Galway city is a vibrant place, said to be Ireland's city of culture, it has many lovely restaurants providing both locally sourced produce and also ethnic foods and of course many pubs with traditional music.
There is a festival in Galway most of the year! Easter has the food festival which is very popular, Cuirt the literary festival follows on and then into the summer for the Galway Arts festival and the famous Galway races, Through the year there is always a great buzz in the city and to be part of it you only have to stroll through town, watch the buskers and street performers and have a drink sitting outside one of the many pubs and do a spot of people watching!
While here it is a great opportunity to visit Connemara, the Cliffs of Moher in county Clare and the Arran islands, all can be done as day trips from the city with one of the coach tour (website hidden) is possible to hire bicycles to explore the city.

We were greeted by James who made us feel incredibly welcome! We loved the breakfast and loved Clovis-sorry if the spelling is wrong! Great location and loved walking the 'Salthill prom' as the Galway girl!
What a lovely, lovely weekend. Warm welcome, beautiful home, thoughtful breakfast and great company. Plus being walking distance from vibrant Galway city, we had everything we needed - making for another satisfying Airbnb discovery.
Sarah immediately made us feel welcome by offering to pick us up from the bus station, and then pointing out different things to do as she drove us to her home. She is friendly, personable, and straight and to the point. She'll let you be if that is what you want, but if you want advice she is very knowledgeable!
Sarah's home is absolutely beautiful, well-decorated, spacious, and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with tea and coffee and the breakfast is delicious. Sarah's home is in a quiet neighbourhood that is perfectly situated between the city centre and the sea side. It was a good place to stop for a cup of tea between city centre sightseeing and walking along the promenade, and the garden is lovely to sit in. Her cat is sweet and adorable.
We could not have asked for a nicer place to stay!
Sarah was the perfect host. Communication before arrival was clear and the accomodation perfect for my 2 day stay in Galway. The room was neat , clean and i had the use of my own bathroom. Sarah provided helpful information about Galway and the accomodation was only a short stroll from downtown Galway. The breakfasts provided were the icing on the cake. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
Sarah really deserves her "superhost" status. From the start her communication with us was prompt and clear and we really appreciated this.
Like other guests have mentioned, it was an enormous help to be fetched by Sarah from the bus station, at exactly the time she'd promised to be there, rather than having to find our own way. This was on top of our arriving a few hours earlier than we'd originally said we would.
And like most other guests have mentioned, Sarah's house is beautiful, the bed is great and I really appreciated having the choice of a feather pillow - the only one in 8 places we stayed in Ireland!
We couldn't have asked for a more friendly, restful, and interesting host and house - hands down the best Airbnb experience we had in Ireland. Thanks so much, Sarah.
We loved staying at Sarah's. The room is comfortable and it is a great location. Sarah is very easy going, helpful and great to chat with. She also prepared a healthy and yummy breakfast for us.
