Galway city is a vibrant place, said to be Ireland's city of culture, it has many lovely restaurants providing both locally sourced produce and also ethnic foods and of course many pubs with traditional music.
There is a festival in Galway most of the year! Easter has the food festival which is very popular, Cuirt the literary festival follows on and then into the summer for the Galway Arts festival and the famous Galway races, Through the year there is always a great buzz in the city and to be part of it you only have to stroll through town, watch the buskers and street performers and have a drink sitting outside one of the many pubs and do a spot of people watching!
While here it is a great opportunity to visit Connemara, the Cliffs of Moher in county Clare and the Arran islands, all can be done as day trips from the city with one of the coach tour (email hidden) is possible to hire bicycles to explore the city.
Before you leave you should walk the famous Salthill prom,
and of course you kick the wall at Blackrock.
I would be pleased to help you enjoy your trip to galway and to provide any more information for you.
NB. sometimes my daughters cat is in my house for holidays!!
There is a minimum booking of two nights during June/ July and August.
Sarah picked us up at the train station and gave us a quick, helpful orientation to Galway. She has a really cute cat and her house is cozy and neat. The continental breakfast is a very nice touch. We didn't see much of Sarah because we were out most of the time, but she was friendly and communication was easy. The rooms are cozy and private.
This was the perfect place to stay in a perfect location. Sarah was very welcoming and relaxed, making me feel at ease in her home. It is a lovely house in a really nice part of Galway. I had a great room with a very comfortable double bed and a small table to do some work on. Having my own bathroom was a real bonus. I would definitely be hoping to stay there again.
Even though Amanda and I only had a short visit staying with Sarah was absolutely wonderful! The room was adorable and Sarah was very sweet and accommodating. Hopefully next time we come we can stay longer to enjoy my only Sarah but the beautiful city as well. :)
After we arrived in Shannon airport at 7:00 AM, we drove straight to Sarah's Galway house where we were greeted warmly with a fresh, delicious breakfast and a quick tour of the house before Sarah was off to work. The location was perfect with a quick walk to town and the home was warm and welcoming. We saw little of Sarah as she was busy with work and we were off visiting the sites but she was kind enough to wait until we arrived to leave for work so that she could give us a map of town and show us around her house. All around, a great stay! Wish we could have stayed longer than just one night.
Sarah's home is wonderful, eclectic and quirky as well as warm and welcoming. It's just a pity I was working so didn't get much chance to enjoy it or chat to Sarah! Highly recommended, very accommodating host, thanks very much :)
Great host. Picked us up from us station and dropped us off. Made an amazing breakfast two mornings in a row for us. Place is the perfect short walk to the main city center and the trail along the water. Had our own bathroom, bed comfortable and clean. She have great suggestions for places to go and eat.
Sarah is a great host. She has a very nice modern house, very comfortable, in a quiet area 10 minutes walking to the city center. We felt very well when we were together at home, she's very pleasant and gives you lot's of information about things to do in Galway. Breakfast is delicious, nothing more to say. What more can you ask for?
Thank you very much Sarah, hope to see you again, pearhaps in "El Camino"
Sarah is such a sweet host, she pick us up at the bus station n drop us off as well on the day we left!! Her house is in a lovely location with walking distance to the city center and totally love the deign of her cozy house n the cutest cat I ever seen!! Thanks for making us a warm stay in Galway and we definitely will come back stay with you again!!
I don't think I could have found a better host or place to stay at during my trip to Galway...though I found everyone on my trip to be wonderful. Sarah was extremely helpful and very quick to respond to all of my inquiries. I was able to bounce off travel ideas before I came to Galway, and then upon my arrival she had even more local suggestions based on my interests. This type of generosity was not something I expected, but was greatly appreciated.
The location (a bit far from the bus station if you're rolling a large suitcase, but that's my own fault) was close to the town and the accommodations were wonderful.
Traveling is totally whatever you make of it, but staying at a place like this, where the host is able to understand what your needs are, really makes the trip even more enjoyable.
Sarah is a wonderful host, fun and interesting to talk to with many tips on what do to in Galway and surroundings. The house itself is lovely, in a quiet residential area though you can walk into town center in about 20 minutes. The room was lovingly decorated and everything was very clean, breakfast was delicious. Would definitely recomment Sarah to anyone.
