My time in Mar-y-Sol was beyond expectation and it made my time in Costa Rica more memorable.
The moment I went inside I was amused by its spaciousness and cleanliness. The amusement increased as I took the house tour by the host Charles and Marisol, seeing collection of goods from all over the world, viewing the sugar cane plantations, mountains and rio general from the hammock in the balcony on the second floor. Later on I adventured through the area with nature expert Charles and the young adorable German Sheppard, Pinto. I felt as I were experiencing the summer break in the countryside as I see in the movies with cow, big rocks on the river, view of people fishing and colorful flower which becomes a decoration in the bedroom afterwards. If you have any questions during your adventure, Charles is there to answer with vast knowledge on botanics, geology, history of Costa Rica. After outside journey, Marisol was ready with delicious meal. In addition to her cooking skill, she has a wonderful personality and I enjoyed talking with her which made me feel more comfortable. What makes Hacienda Mar-y-sol stand out is the immersion to the local community being free from other tourists around you. When I stayed “Cabalgata (horse ride fiesta)” was held in the town and it was so exciting to see the neighbors dressed as cow boy/girl gathering with their own horses and be introduced to their relatives (many ticos had a big family). If you want an experience in Costa Rica that not many people could get, this is a place to chose:)
