Hey! I'm Steven and I'd love you to stay at my Marrickville apartment – it's comfy & clean, nestled in a quiet street & just 25 min to Sydney Central Station from my door (I timed it!). FREE WiFi, tea, coffee and conversations! Sounds cool, yeah? :)
(I have a few types of listing for my apartment. Find them under “My Other Listings” on this page.)
My sun-filled apartment is tucked away in a tranquil, quiet family neighbourhood. Peacefully backing on to a pond, and a very short stroll to the Cooks River, Golf Course, Parks – it's in a lovely spot, yet in moments you can be enjoying some of Sydney's best food and coffee or be headed in to the city. I love the place and I reckon it will meet most needs.
Inside you'll find everything you'll need – clean and fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, multi-function desk/dining, internal laundry and multiple lounge areas thanks to clever layout and flexible furniture which you can shuffle around to suit! You'll have access to all appliances and everywhere in my apartment (except my bedroom).
My balcony and kitchen both overlook a pool and leafy green communal garden areas with a nice view of sunrise and plenty of singing birds to watch if that's your thing. The balcony is a great spot to enjoy a meal, the sun or a good book.
And don’t forget, you can access my WiFi for FREE anywhere in the apartment or outside in communal garden areas.
My lounge and dining areas are best described as transformers! I like to keep the layout fresh, dynamic and adaptable so guests are welcome to shuffle things around to suit – things fold out, extend, move and flip. It's like having a few extra rooms in one!
Is situated in my lounge room. It’s an extra large, comfy, DELUXE single inflatable mattress with a bunch of comfy bedding to boot. (I've slept on for 10 nights in a row as a trial – it's a great sleep!). It has an electric pump to inflate and deflate with the push of a button :) My guests are always happy with it.
Note: If you’re a couple, I also have the option of a deluxe inflatable QUEEN size bed to fit you both :) If you’re two friends, I have the option of TWO deluxe inflatable singles – I’ve got it covered.
The bed isn’t far from my kitchen, and my fridge makes a STRONG hum when it's cooling down inside so I’m happy to provide earplugs if you’re a light sleeper :) (Please keep that in mind if you’re interested in this budget stay)
You'll have access to all appliances and everywhere in my apartment (except my bedroom). While you’re staying, it’s your home too! Help yourself to condiments, herbs, spices – whatever you need.
Interaction with Guests
More on me, and what to expect
I cycle early most mornings and work during weekdays, so you won't see much of me until evenings. When I'm around, I'm happy to chat as little or as much as you like.
I love meeting people and learning more about the world. I’m open minded, intelligent, honest, affable and have an immense passion for life, and learning.
Have a look at some of my reviews for an idea of what past guests have thought about our interactions :)
Marrickville is a big, beautiful, diverse, multicultural suburb which, in recent years, has evolved into a very desirable, trendy place with something for everyone – great food, fantastic coffee, quiet parks, performance venues, entertainment and shopping abound. Plus, transport is among the best in Sydney.
During your stay, be sure to check out the great and varied dining – some of Sydney’s best food and coffee can be found in Marrickville. Enjoy a Vietnamese Pho or Pork Roll, a delicious Greek Yeeros, fresh Thai, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Portugese–ok, you get the idea. I’ll happily point you in the direction of anything to suit your taste and budget!
After some food you can relax by the Cooks River, unwind at Vic On The Park, watch a game at Henson Park, discover hidden treasures at Reverse Garbage or, if it’s a Sunday, visit the renowned Addison Road Organic Food and Farmers Markets.

That's all there is to it :)
Steven was a great host. He's flexible with the check in and out time and also always respect my space. The place is very convenient, very easy to get around and many great food just few bus stops away. I'm sure Steven will look after anyone just like he did to me. Thanks again.
Even though I only stayed for one night, Steven is really nice and loves to share his experience and stories. Really enjoy the conversation. Place is cozy and feels like ur friends place. Nice!
I'm so happy to have my first Airbnb experience staying at Steven's place. Though I was only there for 2 nights, he was such a considerate host and made sure I was taken care of and satisfied throughout my stay. His flat was clean and tidy and full of character. And I most enjoyed our conversation! He's such an amazing person to be around and made my stay more enjoyable. Highly recommend his place to anyone who's looking for a great place with an awesome company.
I arrived in Sydney quite late at night and Steven was kind to wait for me at that time of the night. With the directions and information he provided in his profile I knew I will be located in a central place in Sydney.
The minute I met him I knew I was taken care of already. I walked in the house, he had printed all the information on what, where and when of the house and neighborhood details. I could not have asked for more. Steven is friendly, hospitable and kind person -- best host so far in Airbnb. Well, been a member since 2014 but know a wonderful host when I meet one...
His space was clean, modern interior decor and can cook ;) Well spent most of my time out in the day but generally quite in the mornings and at night.
The place in Dulwich Hill is convenient to anywhere by train in CBD, Bondi & Manly (I mostly used the trains!).
If you sport fanatic, great places to run (didn't explore much!), for a swim there is also an olympic size pool not far from the house (by bus) and of course, the fresh market at Marrickville (by bus) 5 mins from the pool. Not much here and around Sydney on the cycling routes and hiring bikes but there is a local cycling club around the place (didn't explore much!)
Couple of coffee shop around Dulwich Hill serving delicious brekkies and great coffee. There is a grocery store with ethnic and reasonable priced vegetables and fruits across the train station.
Ok, I booked with Steven again, well i enjoyed by stay so much that I extended to more few days. Again, was lucky no-one had booked the place and Steven was accommodating even last minute when I changed my mind on extending the Sydney visit.
Again, this time pretty much the same experience as above but this time managed to "fit in"-- the non-tourist approach i.e. visiting less crowded sites in Bondi (must see Bronte-- visited the three blue ducks restaurant and the bronte beach!), Manly (found a nice italian coffee shop bacino-- a must the gelato, expressos; booked the manly bike ride with Francesco)- reached timely in both places 'cause of staying in Steve's place- quite accessible in and out of the area! Also, ask Steven and he will give you the local tips where to go, see etc. invaluable information, won't get it in the lonely planet book....
Of course, when it came to enjoying meals managed to make my own meals in his kitchen, using the coffee machine etc. At the end, exhausted with the outdoor life and in my double bed with a big smile :-)
This was a great overnight stay. The apartment was clean and warm and Steven wrote beforehand very clear instructions on how to arrive get there.
Steven was very hospitable and made sure that my needs were well taken care of. Appreciated the heater in the room and the guide to Marrickville. Steven's place was also near to lots of good food and cafe! The house looks exactly like the listing: clean, tidy and well-furnished. Steven was a great host. I had fun chatting with him briefly and I also had lots of personal space to do my own things. He made my first AirBnB stay really enjoyable!

By day, I'm a Graphic Designer/Art Director living in wonderful, multicultural Marrickville. By night, I'm an investor, wealth building mentor and vipassana meditator.
I had the honour of being invited by Airbnb to run a workshop in Nov 2014 at the inaugural Airbnb Open in San Francisco. I take a lot of pride in my hosting and ensuring guests have a great time!
I also have an endless passion for all things science, learning and understanding – this encompasses not only the physical world, but extends to people, cultures and the infinitely varied ways in which one can experience life.
I’ve been hosting guests for a while now, and found that I take great pleasure in it. So I have...
3 types of listing:
1) Entire Apartment - Have my entire apartment to yourself
2) Private - Have a private room in my apartment
3) Budget - Sleep in the lounge room – economical
I love guests opting for listings 2 and 3, as it gives us a chance to chat when our paths cross, and to learn a bit about each other – always a delight! I’ve met some wonderful, interesting, diverse people so far.
However, you’re welcome to take the whole place if you want. Lots of couples (in particular) do this.
For sharers: I'm a friendly host – great to talk to but happy to give you some space if you want it too!
Located in a tranquil neighbourhood and close to transport, my apartment is nestled in a lush, off-street trio of quiet buildings. Peacefully backing on to a pond, and a very short stroll to the Cooks River, Golf Course, Parks – it's in a lovely spot. My balcony and kitchen both overlook a pool and communal garden areas with a nice view of sunrise and plenty of birds to watch (if that's your thing). The balcony is a great spot to enjoy a meal, the sun, a glass of wine or a good book.
Inside you'll find everything you'll need – a good sized bedroom (if booking my entire apartment or private room) with storage, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, multi-function desk/dining, internal laundry and multiple lounge areas thanks to clever layout and flexible furniture which guests are welcome to rearrange! I love the place. It'll definitely meet the needs of most – unless you’re looking for a luxury palace!
It's in a great location. Just 5 mins walk to the train (I timed it) then under 20 mins to Central station (I timed that too, record is 15m 32s). The light rail is right by the train station too. It goes to the city but the scenic (slower) route. There's also a bus to the city right outside my place. And within a 10 min walk: Supermarket/Groceries, Cafés, Restaurants, Dining (including the renowned Illawarra Road precinct), Post Office, Tattoo Parlour – even a great Wine Bar.
Drop me a line if you have any questions or enquiries about my place–any of the 3 listing types. I’ll be happy to help. :)
