Hey! I'm Steven and I'd love you to stay at my Marrickville apartment – it's comfy & clean, nestled in a quiet street & just 25 min to Sydney Central Station from my door (I timed it!). FREE WiFi, tea, coffee and conversations! Sounds cool, yeah? :)

The Space

(I have a few types of listing for my apartment. Find them under “My Other Listings” on this page.)

My sun-filled apartment is tucked away in a tranquil, quiet family neighbourhood. Peacefully backing on to a pond, and a very short stroll to the Cooks River, Golf Course, Parks – it's in a lovely spot, yet in moments you can be enjoying some of Sydney's best food and coffee or be headed in to the city. I love the place and I reckon it will meet most needs.

Inside you'll find everything you'll need – clean and fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, multi-function desk/dining, internal laundry and multiple lounge areas thanks to clever layout and flexible furniture which you can shuffle around to suit! You'll have access to all appliances and everywhere in my apartment (except my bedroom).

My balcony and kitchen both overlook a pool and leafy green communal garden areas with a nice view of sunrise and plenty of singing birds to watch if that's your thing. The balcony is a great spot to enjoy a meal, the sun or a good book.

And don’t forget, you can access my WiFi for FREE anywhere in the apartment or outside in communal garden areas.

Transforming lounge/dining
My lounge and dining areas are best described as transformers! I like to keep the layout fresh, dynamic and adaptable so guests are welcome to shuffle things around to suit – things fold out, extend, move and flip. It's like having a few extra rooms in one!

Your bed
Is situated in my lounge room. It’s an extra large, comfy, DELUXE single inflatable mattress with a bunch of comfy bedding to boot. (I've slept on for 10 nights in a row as a trial – it's a great sleep!). It has an electric pump to inflate and deflate with the push of a button :) My guests are always happy with it.

Note: If you’re a couple, I also have the option of a deluxe inflatable QUEEN size bed to fit you both :) If you’re two friends, I have the option of TWO deluxe inflatable singles – I’ve got it covered.

The bed isn’t far from my kitchen, and my fridge makes a STRONG hum when it's cooling down inside so I’m happy to provide earplugs if you’re a light sleeper :) (Please keep that in mind if you’re interested in this budget stay)

Guest Access

You'll have access to all appliances and everywhere in my apartment (except my bedroom). While you’re staying, it’s your home too! Help yourself to condiments, herbs, spices – whatever you need.

Interaction with Guests

More on me, and what to expect
I cycle early most mornings and work during weekdays, so you won't see much of me until evenings. When I'm around, I'm happy to chat as little or as much as you like.

I love meeting people and learning more about the world. I’m open minded, intelligent, honest, affable and have an immense passion for life, and learning.

Have a look at some of my reviews for an idea of what past guests have thought about our interactions :)

The Neighborhood

Marrickville is a big, beautiful, diverse, multicultural suburb which, in recent years, has evolved into a very desirable, trendy place with something for everyone – great food, fantastic coffee, quiet parks, performance venues, entertainment and shopping abound. Plus, transport is among the best in Sydney.

During your stay, be sure to check out the great and varied dining – some of Sydney’s best food and coffee can be found in Marrickville. Enjoy a Vietnamese Pho or Pork Roll, a delicious Greek Yeeros, fresh Thai, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Portugese–ok, you get the idea. I’ll happily point you in the direction of anything to suit your taste and budget!

After some food you can relax by the Cooks River, unwind at Vic On The Park, watch a game at Henson Park, discover hidden treasures at Reverse Garbage or, if it’s a Sunday, visit the renowned Addison Road Organic Food and Farmers Markets.

Check out my guidebook for a comprehensive overview of what’s around my place.

  • I recently moved to Sydney for University and I feel quite fortunate being given the chance to stay with Steven, he always let me feel at home allowing for my move to be so much easier. His place is ideal for people looking for a quiet area in the city that is also very close to downtown. Staying at his place was the best opportunity I could have been put in and WOULD recommend his place to everyone.

  • I had a beautiful week at Steven's place.
It is a cozy swimming pool view appartment.

Steven absolutly, really got me by his caring, positive thinking, life and career planning and a volcano of knowledge and sharing, such as meditation technique, 3d printer ( it is amazing actually!), or music or even his family stories.

He took me to a local jazz bar on Thursday night which is nice, warm atmotsphere and has a number of weird stuff to look at while chitchat or listening to jazz, like a dentist chair becoming a cool light.
I feel safe and very comfortable at his appartment and
definitelly recomment his place to you.

    Thank you, Steven. -:))
I do miss those days at your place.

  • Steven's shared accommodation was like being in a 5 star hotel but with a price of a half star backpackers hostel!!!.
The apartment is very clean and spacious and if you are in Sydney for just a few days is the perfect spot to rest your head at night. close to shops, train and bus stations and also some restaurants, if you book this, I strongly suggest the Thai restaurant close to the Train Station, you won't regret it :).
Steven is a great host, was very attentive during my stay there, and before I made my booking he always answered to enquiries promptly. He took the time to show me where to buy my groceries and helped me with the basics of how things worked in Australia (Transportation, rentals, mortages, utilities).
Also if you come from a non english speaking country, talking to Steven will give you the opportunity to practice your english and to know more about him. He's a very relaxed, a down to earth person, kind, polite, decent and overall a great guy!!!!.
In summary, book this place if you are looking for:
-An awesome host with whom you can have a great conversation
-Quiet place and surroundings close to restaurants and shops.
-Somewhere you can have a good night sleep.
    -affordable accommodation

  • First of all, let me share about the host as alot of guests would like to know about the host even before they see the place of stay.

A great and an awesome host. Very very helpful. Professional. Quick response to enquiries. That's one of the crucial factor that make me decide on this stay. Till the very end where he helped to book a taxi to go to the airport. Not all host will give that extent! Well done!

    Abt the place:
Easy to find even I arrived at night. Near train station. Lots of eateries nearby. Supermarket nearby too. A very quiet area, (very safe at night too!), tranquil, if you are into running/jogging, its perfect to do it every morning/evening in this neighbourhood.

A coffee machine is literally there for you to use & make coffee. It's all part of the package. Steven even showed me how to operate the machine. Good free wifi connection. (Almost all guests would want this in mind).

I would really recommend this place to solo travellers or even couples who want privacy. (You gotta book entire home though). Will stay here again if I have the opportunity to go Sydney again.

  • Steven was a very helpful host! Although we did not manage to meet him in person, we had coordinated everything seamlessly through email and mobile. His apartment is cozy and comfortable, and very tastefully renovated. I would recommend this to anyone visiting Sydney!

Graphic Designer/Art Director (Brands, Web, Packaging etc)
I'm skydiving over the Swiss Alps in my first photo. I'm a Graphic Designer/Art Director living in wonderful, multicultural Marrickville. I also have an endless passion for all things science, learning and understanding – this encompasses not only the physical world, but extends to people, cultures and the infinitely varied ways in which one can experience life. I’ve been hosting guests for a while now, and found that I take great pleasure in it. So I have... 3 types of listing: 1) Entire Apartment - Have my entire apartment to yourself 2) Private - Have a private room in my apartment 3) Budget - Sleep in the lounge room – economical I love guests opting for listings 2 and 3, as it gives us a chance to chat when our paths cross, and to learn a bit about each other – always a delight! I’ve met some wonderful, interesting, diverse people so far. However, you’re welcome to take the whole place if you want. Lots of couples (in particular) do this. For sharers: I'm a friendly host – great to talk to but happy to give you some space if you want it too! My place: Located in a tranquil neighbourhood and close to transport, my apartment is nestled in a lush, off-street trio of quiet buildings. Peacefully backing on to a pond, and a very short stroll to the Cooks River, Golf Course, Parks – it's in a lovely spot. My balcony and kitchen both overlook a pool and communal garden areas with a nice view of sunrise and plenty of birds to watch (if that's your thing). The balcony is a great spot to enjoy a meal, the sun, a glass of wine or a good book. Inside you'll find everything you'll need – a good sized bedroom (if booking my entire apartment or private room) with storage, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, multi-function desk/dining, internal laundry and multiple lounge areas thanks to clever layout and flexible furniture which guests are welcome to rearrange! I love the place. It'll definitely meet the needs of most – unless you’re looking for a luxury palace! It's in a great location. Just 5 mins walk to the train (I timed it) then under 20 mins to Central station (I timed that too, record is 15m 32s). There's also a bus to the city. And within a 10 min walk: Supermarket/Groceries, Cafés, Restaurants, Dining (including the renowned Illawarra Road precinct), Post Office, Tattoo Parlour – even a great Wine Bar. Drop me a line if you have any questions or enquiries about my place–any of the 3 listing types. I’ll be happy to help. :) Cheers! p.s. If you like my place, feel free to click “Add To Wishlist” – it will help make finding it again easier :)
