Malaysia's culinary is a mixture of many cuisines such Malay, Chinese, Indian, Thai and even Arabian, and so we bring all under our roof, where we serve the best of the best food. My wife and are ex –restaurateurs and we are experts in all Malaysian and Middle Eastern Cooking. We usually prepare our cooking in traditional way and we use variety of fresh vegetables and legumes to satisfy all our guests including the vegetarians. We also serve many various dishes of seafood, fish, meat and chickens. On request, we serve our guests daily meals for lunch and dinner and of course the breakfast. Between meals, we give our guests some refreshments of local sweets or snacks after they return from city tour. Guests who want to take part of our cooking workshop are most welcome into our kitchen.
Our breakfast is like 3-star-hotel breakfast which is a combination of Malaysian, Arabian and Western food. Usually our guests do not need to have a lunch after they had such big breakfast.
We have our own transport and our son who is good tour guide can show the guests all Melaka interesting places including Melaka historic sights. There are so many interesting places to see in Melaka and we happy to show our guest the hidden treasure of our city where tourists can not reach. Guests who want to use public transport can reach historic sights by bus.
We can arrange for our guests to attend Malaya Wedding Ceremony. We did arrange for some of our guests in the past. But please be here at least one weekend for attending a wedding.
At our home, we treat our guests like family members and we let them feel at home. We like to host families with children, singles, couples, senior folks and even students. Our guests can share us the living room, watch settle-lite TV with us, and can even play chessboard with us.
If you are looking for a truly authentic, cultural exchange, with some of the best home cooked meals, Os and Hasnah's homestay is highly recommended. We stayed for 3 nights, and had some great home cooked meals. The dinners are incredible, and their son can take you around town whenever and where ever you might need to go. They are a great family that go out of their way to make you feel like you are at home.
I was staying for 3 nights. Os and Hasnah are s(phone number hidden)nice. We chat each night like a real family. They just chatted, taught and educated me in the same way my parents did! And don't miss Hasnah's cook!! I never imagined that I was crying when I left their home, I even can't speak a single, or I would cry then. I mush come back again, since they are also my parents now!! Miss you from the bottom of my heart.
i had a terrific week in melaka with os, hasneh and amad.
a warm welcome, a simple but clean and comfortable room, and a constant stream of incredible food and hot tea made for a fabulous time!
amad drove me all over melaka at a very reasonable rate, and couldn't have been more charming, helpful and flexible. i very much enjoyed his company and conversation....we like the same movies!
ask amad to take you to villa sentosa...it was a highlight of my visit.
i had some minor tooth trouble in melaka and os recommended an excellent dentist to me. this sort of thing can be a disaster while on holidays overseas, but instead, it was all efficiently dealt with in a couple of hours.
os and hasneh love having visitors and really go out of their way to make you welcome and comfortable. we had some great conversations and a lot of laughs.
the house is a bit out of town, but with amad on tap with transport, it is not a problem at all.
the apartment is much closer to town, and it is easy to get taxis or the bus.
I chose to stay here because I love good food and wasn't concerned about being centrally located. Even if you don't stay here, I would recommend contacting the host about coming for a meal or a cooking class. Malaysian food has just become a new favorite with me. The host and hostess were friendly and kind. I had great discussions and enjoyed the warmth of staying with a family in a real homestay. There son is available to taxi around and that was worth the extra cost and convenience to me. Would gladly go back for more good food and cooking lessons. Room and bed were clean and simple, can sleep up to 3 people.
There are 2 sides to my stay with Os & his lovely family. First & most important was the food. Os's wife is a superb cook & a gracious hostess. The dinner table was laden with many tasty dishes each night consisting of chicken, fish, vegetables & rice. The spices used to make each dish made simple food into a gourmet delight.
The other side of the home stay was the difficulty in lack of easy public transport. To get to heritage city which is 6kms from Os house, it requires 2 buses which are not frequent. Walking to first bus requires walking on side of a busy road as there are no pavements.
The alternative is to always use the service of Os's son in their car. This cost is RM15. for each trip into the city, same coming back.
Overall it was a very nice experience & Os enjoys sharing cultural & travel stories with his guests.
What a memorable experience ! Os and family offered us great hospitality. Os's wife is an excellent cook and her food was world class. This was an excellent way to closely experience malay culture and living. I would recommend this as one single reason to visit Melaka.
We had a wonderful stay with Os and his family. They made us feel very welcome. His son Ahmed picked us up at the bus terminal and helped us get around town.
Pro: Hassa makes nice Malay meals and helped us learn about new dishes, we were able to visit a typical Malay wedding, great price for Tom and reasonable price for meals and transportation.
Con: a bit far from the city but Ahmed was good at taking us around.
Definitely recommend for budget traveler and foodies.
Os and his kind family treated us like family! They were so welcoming and generous, shared a lot of time with us for great conversations and some sight-seeing. His wife cooked the most delicious food we had in all of Malaysia, a mix of Arab and traditional Malay dishes, healthy and at a really affordable price.
Their home is comfortable and clean. Comfortable beds with a private bathroom/shower. They live about 20 minutes away from downtown, which is easily accessible by bus/taxi. They also offered transportation, which was much cheaper than taxis and more time-saving than buses.
I highly recommend staying with Os and his family. Take the opportunity to make friends and eat some of the best home-cooking during your stay in Melaka.
Thank you so much dear Helen for the compliments and for sure I appreciate your wonderful reference and review on my profile. Please give my warmest regards to your dear husband, I am sure he is very nice man, and I hope to see you again in the future.
warmest regards from Os and family
Os and his family made a big effort to make our stay memorable. Their son came to pic us up from the bus station and dropped us to town for a low price so the fact that their family home is far from the touristy center was not a problem. The food they cooked us was truly wonderful!!! We can only recommend a stay at their place if you want to have a peek into Malaysian (arab) cuisine and life!
The room was cozy and big enough for 1~2 persons. The host and his family were very kind, and it was quite a good time to have conversation with them. Food was worth of 15 MYR. The location was a little bit far away from downtown, but Os provided the transportation, at a cost of 15 MYR for one way, so I could comfortably enjoy the night in Malacca.
This is the final rate, including any fees from the host and Airbnb.
