The top terrace of 'Casa El Nido' offers a double room with delightful outdoor shower, lovely palm shaded terrace with loungers, fridge, coffee maker and high speed wifi.
We are ten mins walk from Puerto Escondido's most beautiful and exotic beach - Playa Carrizalillo - a perfect place for learning to surf and watch Puerto's famous sunsets.
There are excellent restaurants on Rinconada Avenue - Italian, Argentine, Spanish and Oaxacan high end Mexican cuisine . You can also breakfast, lunch and dine at the beautiful Villas Carrizalillo hotel - looking down onto the beach. We even a small art cinema all within easy reach from the house by foot.
'Casa El Nido' has birds and breeze in a lovely residential setting. Two blocks from the house you can get taxis and other transport - its also an easy walk to our local market - full of Mexican surprises...
Puerto Escondido is famous for surfing - it prides itself on its Mex-pipe status and as a result we have surfers from all over the world as regular visitors.
Puerto's natural environment is impressive. Ten mins from Casa El Nido - in either direction - there are fascinating wild and rugged landscapes. - Beautiful unspoilt bays with natural jacuzzis - one way - Stunning lagoons -fireflies, early morning kayaking and incredible bird watching, - the other.
In both directions there are baby turtle releases and mother turtle returns, at certain times of the year.
Puerto Escondido is still one of the undiscovered regions of the world. I have friends who dolphin watch with their favourite skipper almost every weekend and others who enjoy horse back riding along the virgin beaches most sunsets...
Puerto also has good food and music all year around and lots of yoga and dance to choose from as well.
I am British by birth - a writer - teacher and singer. I have been living and working in Mexico for over 12 years and have lived in Europe, Latin America, and Asia.
I have travelled extensively throughout Mexico and can suggest many wonderful places for you to visit both close and further away.
I am happy to pick you up from the airport.
I love the convenience and the quietness that my neighbourhood offers.
Three minute walk for taxis and colectivos to main town beach and market. Ten mins to local beach...Playa Carrizalillo
I have yoga mats, snorkels, fins and beach towels at your disposal. Please just ask.

Do you need a place to stay in Puerto? OKAY, look no further!
When we booked with Julianne and Alfonso we didn't really know what to get... We hit absolute jackpot!
Two own rooftops (one is a killer for sunbathing), private outdoor shower with hot water, and perfect location. It's located right in the middle of our two favorite beaches and the grand market!
It's a pretty basic bohemian getaway with everything you need. Your own fridge, coffee maker and drinking water as much as we wanted!
Julianne and Alfonso showed us the town and the beaches and all sorts of different activities.
Even found us a specialist doctor when we needed one AND gave us a ride and translated for us. You couldn't ask for nicer hosts and we will forever remember our stay!
If you're reading this review, go ahead and stop your search. This is the place! Julianne and Antonio are some of the coolest cats we've ever met. Little did we know that when we booked with them it would turn our vacation from hopeful to amazing!
Where do I begin? First, the price is awesome. Don't let it fool you. Their location is awesome because it's not right in the middle of all the noise, it's nicely tucked away but definitely close enough to just get outside the hustle and bustle in Puerto. It looks further on the map, but that's just because Puerto is so small. Three blocks and there's a whole row of restaurants, access to our favorite beach, Carrizalillo, Puerto Angel where we left from after Julianne helped us book our awesome sea-animal viewing boat tour, and also another cool beach, Bococho, where you can really get away from it all. We had the whole beach to ourselves! Two blocks the other way is the main highway to get in/out of town with the bus station nearby as well.
Juliane was so nice from the beginning and helped us book over three different excursions. And these were the good ones with good guides and good prices! Ask them about the lagoons and ask Julianne to show you the dance spots. Together they know half the town! Antonio is one of the most entertaining and funniest guys I've ever met. His stories humbled us "seasoned" travelers and he's got loads of them. Ask him for a game of backgammon or Fichapool in the garden and your ears are in for a treat.
The private room and terrace complete with private WC, sink, shower, coffee, refrigerator, hammock, books, super comfy bed, and washing machine was way more than we had hoped for. There's a nice big fan to keep you cool and if you want to catch some rays the terrace is perfect.
With the risk of sounding like any other super awesome review, I have to say this AirBNB experience is what we hope to achieve for people staying with us in our own listing. It's way less about the amenities and it's all about who you're staying with. This is why people AirBNB. We will miss these two and hope to visit them again in the near future. Thanks guys!
simply (email hidden)eat room so are julianne her partner and not to forget the pets!!
p.s. the shower is fantastic!!
Muy agradable todooo!! super lindo, espero regresar =)
While travelling with a friend we booked this space, and found it to be just as wonderful as it sounded. The space is bright and airy in a quiet neighbourhood. It's located 10 mins from a bunch of restaurants that Julianne thoughtfully pointed out to us. It's also very close to a stunning beach that's great for swimming in, and also where those interested in surfing can take some lessons.
Julianne and Alfonso were both wonderful resources of information about Puerto Escondido and we enjoyed their company very much. The apt was kept tidy and was a pleasure to spend time in. Thanks Jules!
The reservation was canceled 46 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
My recent stay at “enchanting apt in the palm tops” at the end of June was delightful. I have been to Puerto Escondido before and am always looking for a good place to land and acclimate myself.
I found the neighborhood to be quiet and convenient, walking distance to both the beach and the main street for catching a taxi or a collectivo. My host was very gracious. The apartment was very clean and comfortable. All in all I would say that it is a nice place to stay at a very reasonable price.
Julianne was not here when we arrived but her husband was and he picked us up at the airport which was very nice. Their place is in a great area of Puerto Escondido above the best beach in town.
Unfortunately, the pictures don't exactly match up with the reality of the place as it seems a large storm has knocked down the awning from the photo and the balcony was covered in dilapidated patio furniture. The house also seems to be a bit devoid of a women's touch and our bedroom was quite dirty. In fact, we had to change the bedsheets when we arrived because they were covered in dirt splash marks from a window that had been left open. Luckily we found some other sheets on a shelf that seemed fairly clean.
The house mascots, a dog and a cat, were both super friendly and Alfonso (Julianne's husband) is a nice guy. The mango tree in the middle of the yard is huge and was producing massive fruits while we were there and all in all the place has huge potential. However, cleanliness is a major issue. If this was dealt with, I would most definitely recommend this place but until then, it's not really worth the price.
So sorry I was not there to greet you Daniel! Puerto Escondido does have lots of storms at this time of year as its rainy season as I know you will appreciate. The house is now back to its peaceful and sparkling self after the storm and I have replaced the terrace furniture. I am so glad you enjoyed our wonderful beaches and delicious mangoes and that Lola and Charlie were loving and kind. I would like to offer you 2 nights free accommodation to make up for any in convenience you might have felt. Best of luck Daniel, Jules
