About This Listing
We are in a great location, just blocks from the heart of the Lower East Side. Our apartment is close to the subway, great food, awesome NYC sights and nightlife. Interesting art covers our walls in a warm comfortable apartment!
You will be staying with a young and easy going couple! Greg is a musician (don't worry I'm quiet) and Olivia is a pattern maker in the fashion industry. You will be staying in the lower east side which is a beautiful vibrant neighborhood just south of the East Village (another young, vibrant area).
Our apartment is close to the F train stop at East broadway. Not a long walk to the JMZ train stop as well. We have a cool coffee place around the corner. The funky, infamous, historic 169 bar is a few blocks away (the bloody mary's there are amazing) Oh, and for the foodies Mission Chinese just opened just down the street from us!
Your room has a double/full size bed, a bed-side table, and shelving so you can unpack and be comfortable. Feel free to leave your luggage in the hallway leading to your room! The room has two sunny windows, and always new artwork on the walls. There is an air conditioning unit in your room as well for the hot summer months.
We have a great apartment! We are very clean and friendly. We both work and are out and about most of the time. We try to always keep some extra room in our refrigerator specifically for your use.
We are right next door to chinatown. It's an amazing place! I'm a dumpling fan, and we are next to the best in NYC (There are several places I can recommend!). Seward park is a nice place to hang out and people watch, and the food and bar life in the lower east side is awesome. We are only a few minutes away from the walkway along the East River, it has a great view of the Brooklyn bridge and Manhattan Bridge.
It's so close to so many major famous New York places of interest! I've lived here for four years and still finding new interesting things even in my local neighborhood.
We encourage our guests to make themselves totally comfortable. You'll have a set of keys you can come and go as you please. We have towels and sheets for you ready and clean.
Interaction with Guests
Definitely don't feel obligated to spend time getting to know us (though not discouraged!), odds are you are here to see NYC so get out there and see it!!! We both have jobs and like to be out and about ourselves. Usually we like to keep our relationships with our guests non formal and easy going.
Don't worry about being out late! We expect people to be exploring NYC as much as they can while they stay with us. Plus, we are really easy going, it's pretty hard to bother us.
Our neighborhood is great because it is right next to everything you could possibly want to do in NYC, and still it isn't really busy right where we are so it gets quiet in the evenings. We're next to Chinatown so there is some overflow and influence from there. There is a lot of new interest in our neighborhood and new places are popping up all the time. There are several great restaurants and bars close to our place, along with lots of art galleries and coffee shops. All of this is within a 15 minute walk from our apartment.
There is a subway stop 3 blocks away from us which can take you anywhere in the city. It is the F train, and that will take you directly to Midtown (where most of the NY stuff you see on TV and movies takes place) A little further along and you are at the base of Central Park.
There are also all sorts of busses close to us. The bus is a great way to get around and is often overlooked. I like the bus because you get to see the city while you get around, and not a tunnel!
If you have a car or decide to rent one there is off street parking all around, though beware the street sweeping schedules! And finding a parking spot is sort of an art in Manhattan.
Other Things to Note
If you are confused because most of our reviews are for "Ben and Greg" it's because my good friend Ben used to be my roommate and has since moved out and my girlfriend, Olivia, has moved in!
You must enjoy your stay in NYC!
We are respectful people and hope for that in return (:
We try to keep check in anytime from 2pm on and check out at 12 noon...this really helps with our transition should there be a following guest. If you need to check in later in the day that of course is fine. If you arrive to the city earlier than that you can drop off your bags at our apartment, though I can't guarantee that the guest before you have left.
Also if you fly out late in the evening I will like to collect the keys and have your belongings out of the guest room by the latest 12 pm. This way I can clean up and prepare the room for the next guest.
I enjoyed my 2 nights stay at the apartment in early June. Greg and Olivia are accommodating and laid-back hosts who tried to make my stay as comfortable as possible. They even purchased an ironing board in advance of my arrival because they knew I had to attend a formal event, which was greatly appreciated! I would describe the apartment and bedroom as compact and 'no frills', but overall very quiet and comfortable. I can recommend staying at this apartment because of its superb location and the inviting hosts. Thanks Greg and Olivia!
Greg and Olivia are a lovely couple they made us feel very welcome and comfortable, I wish we had more time to chat a little bit more or even maybe going out for some drinks. Apartment is very cozy, the room was clean and perfect for our staying. The location was perfect, and the neighbourhood is really nice. We had a great stay. Thanks guys! Highly recommend.
My college roommate and I took a redeye flight to JFK and arrived around 8am. Greg was really accommodating with the time because we wanted to drop off our bags before check-in time but would not be back at a reasonable hour to pick up the keys. Thus, he left them at this cute neighborhood bar around the corner for us to conveniently pick them up when we were ready. Our flight returning to LAX was after check-out time but Greg was super nice and allowed us to keep our bags in the living room and pick them back up on our way to the airport. The pictures posted are accurate and we had a unique experience of New York because it felt as if we were just going home to our apartment. The F train is just a short walk (a third of a mile) and Chinatown eateries were close-by. The only thing that subtracted from our experience of New York was the weather (humid and rainy in May) and since the apartment had no air conditioning, we were a bit uncomfortable but nothing that opening a window wouldn't solve [but keep in mind we are from Los Angeles--spoiled by the weather haha]. Overall, a great deal and chill, accommodating hosts.
Overall a great experience staying with these two. No issues what so ever. The room was clean, bed quite comfortable and the surrounding neighborhood was pleasant. I was able to walk the Williamsburg Bridge into Brooklyn with relative ease. They were kind enough to provide towels, clean sheets and a clean room and (email hidden)e check in/out process was pain free as well. Definitely recommend for your trip into NYC.
This stay was exactly what I needed at a great price! The hosts responded quickly to all my questions and I found the apartment without a problem. I was given a key to the place and could come and go as I pleased. It was my first time in NYC and found the location good and easy to come/go from. Arriving back late was not an issue. The apartment was clean and everything in good order. I would gladly stay here again and recommend it!
We stayed with Benjamin and Greg for two nights and had a great time. The location was perfect for us and finding the apartment is easy. Wi-Fi and everything else we needed was readily available on our arrival.

About the Host, Greg And Olivia
I'm a musician and my wonderfully talented girlfriend Olivia works as a pattern maker in the fashion industry. We are both very easy going, clean, and find humor in everything.
We both like to socialize and grab drinks with friends. Walking up and down the east river is also a favorite of ours. Olivia is a wonderful cook and I am a wonderful consumer of her cooking.
We love to welcome guests into our home seeking a wonderful experience the lower east side of Manhattan has to offer. Ask us about our favorite bars, shops, neighborhoods, coffee shops, etc!
