About This Listing
We are in a great location, just blocks from the heart of the Lower East Side. Our apartment is close to the subway, great food, awesome NYC sights and nightlife. Interesting art covers our walls in a warm comfortable apartment!
You will be staying with a visual artist Benjamin and musician Greg ( don't worry about noise though.. he's quiet!) We have an entire private room available with a double bed. You'll be staying in the largest room in the apartment.
Our apartment is close to the F train stop at East broadway. Not a long walk to the JMZ train stop as well. We have a cool coffee place around the corner. The funky, infamous, historic 169 bar is a few blocks away (the bloody mary's there are amazing) Oh, and for the foodies Mission Chinese just opened just down the street from us!
Your room has a double/full size bed, shelving and a mini hanger 'closet', so you can unpack and be comfortable, two sunny windows, and always new artwork on the walls. There is an air conditioning unit in your room as well for the hot summer months.
We have a great apartment! We are clean and friendly guys. We both work and are out and about most of the time. We try to always keep some extra room in our refrigerator specifically for your use. I appreciate good fresh ground coffee and like to share that with you. We have good quality coffee, a grinder and a french press which you are welcome to use. yummy.
We are right next door to chinatown. It's an amazing place! I'm a dumpling fan, and we are next to the best in NYC (There are several places I can recommend!). Seward park is a nice place to hang out and people watch, and the food and bar life in the lower east side is awesome. We are only a few minutes away from the walkway along the East River, it's has a great view of the Brooklyn bridge and Manhattan Bridge.
It's so close to so many major famous New York places of interest! I've lived here two years and still am finding new interesting things even in my local neighborhood.
We encourage our guests to make themselves totally comfortable. You'll have a set of keys you can come and go as you please. Feel free to use anything in our kitchen! Hang out in our living room. Keep some food in the fridge and save some money by having a meal at our place. We have towels and sheets for you ready and clean.
Interaction with Guests
Definitely don't feel obligated to spend time getting to know us (though not discouraged!), odds are you are here to see NYC so get out there and see it!!! Greg and I will both typically be in the general area. We both have jobs and like to be out and about ourselves. Usually we like to keep our relationships with our guests non formal and easy going. We're usually open to joining our guests for a drink in the evenings if we are available.
Don't worry about being out late! We expect people to be exploring NYC as much as they can while they stay with us. Plus, we are really easy going guys, it's pretty hard to bother us.
Our neighborhood is great because it is right next to everything you could possibly want to do in NYC, and still it isn't really busy right where we are so it gets quiet in the evenings. We're next to Chinatown so there is some overflow and influence from there. There is a lot of new interest in our neighborhood and new places are popping up all the time. There are several great restaurants and bars close to our place, along with lots of art galleries and coffee shops. All of this is within a 15 minute walk from our apartment.
There is a subway stop 3 blocks away from us which can take you anywhere in the city. It is the F train, and that will take you directly to Midtown (where most of the NY stuff you see on TV and movies takes place) A little further along and you are at the base of Central Park.
There are also all sorts of busses close to us. The bus is a great way to get around and is often overlooked. I like the bus because you get to see the city while you get around, and not a tunnel!
If you have a car or decide to rent one there is off street parking all around, though beware the street sweeping schedules! And finding a parking spot is sort of an art in Manhattan.
Other Things to Note
Definitely don't feel obligated to spend time getting to know us (though not discouraged!), odds are you are here to see NYC so get out there and see it!!!
You must enjoy your stay in NYC!
We are respectful people and hope for that in return (:
We try to keep check in anytime from 2pm on and check out at 12 noon...this really helps with our transition should there be a following guest. If you arrive to the city earlier than that you can drop off your bags at our apartment, though I can't guarantee that the guest before you have left.
Also if you fly out late in the evening I will like to collect the keys and have your belongings out of the guest room by the latest 12 pm. This way I can clean up and prepare the room for the next guest.
Hang out in 'the nook' We have a stereo down there too that you can hook up to your ipod, laptop etc.
This stay was exactly what I needed at a great price! The hosts responded quickly to all my questions and I found the apartment without a problem. I was given a key to the place and could come and go as I pleased. It was my first time in NYC and found the location good and easy to come/go from. Arriving back late was not an issue. The apartment was clean and everything in good order. I would gladly stay here again and recommend it!
We stayed with Benjamin and Greg for two nights and had a great time. The location was perfect for us and finding the apartment is easy. Wi-Fi and everything else we needed was readily available on our arrival.
Greg and Ben have a very nice apartment in a great neighborhood. The apartment was clean and cozy. The room itself is a good size and the air conditioner is perfect for hot days/nights in NYC. They even kept a scented candle burning during the day and left a small lamp on at night for when we got home late. They are both super friendly, respectful, and helpful. I would absolutely stay here again! Thanks guys!
Ben and Greg are welcoming and easy going guys. They are not talkative but helpful to gave me any info I needed. The room is clean, cozy and spacious enough. Quiet room and comfortable bed make a good sleep. I love Ben's beautiful artworks. Location is perfect for exploring Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn. Close to station. I didn't feel unsafe, at night a bit sketchy though. I had a great stay.
This trip was very great! The hosts were very welcoming and attentive all time.
Apartment and room are very cozy! There was no reason to worry about something.
The perfect location of the block allows you to see a lot of interesting, especially waterfront and bridges!

About the Host, Benjamin And Greg
I'm a visual artist, and Greg is a musician. Both of us are very easy going and laid back.
I like to socialize, drinks with friends. Seeing art and going to openings. Trying new foods. I like dive type places. Places that seem "real" where people are themselves and comfortable.
I like to draw. Making art is one of the few things that makes me feel like I've accomplished something in the day. I need it.
I work several days a week at a coffee place. I like to be a part of the community there. I'm also into good coffee.
I like to remind myself 'it's not what you are doing.. it's who you are doing it with'. Quality people = quality time.
