About this listing
You will be staying with a young couple in a great location, just blocks from the heart of the Lower East Side. Our apartment is close to the subway, great food, awesome NYC sights and nightlife. Please read our entire description!
It is very important to us that our guests enjoy their stay and feel comfortable. We strongly encourage you to read our entire description to help meet with your expectations!
Guests will be staying WITH a young and very easy going couple. Greg is a musician and Olivia is a pattern maker in the fashion industry. We work relatively normal work hours and are usually home during the evenings. We always welcome you into our home. We have hosted many travelers from all over the world and truly enjoy the experience! You will be staying in the lower east side which is a beautiful vibrant neighborhood just south of the East Village (another young, vibrant area).
We have found that guests who enjoyed their experience the most were ones who stayed busy and used the apartment as a home base to sleep, shower, rest, etc. We want your expectations to be realistic. The apartment is small but very comfortable and it offers you the essentials of a comfortable bed, clean sheets and towels, and a hot shower.
We really take pride in making your stay unique and comfortable, but if you are expecting more of a hotel atmosphere this may not be the right choice for you. If you are looking to stay in a cool vibrant neighborhood that is conveniently located and want to save some money on hotels, then this is most certainly the right fit for you!
Our apartment is close to the F train stop at East broadway. Not a long walk to the JMZ train stop as well. We are located about 20 minutes from Times Square, World Trade Center, and Central Park. The apartment is situated right between the Williamsburg Bridge and the Manhattan Bridge which makes for easy and enjoyable walking to Brooklyn. We have a cool coffee place around the corner. The funky, infamous, historic 169 bar is a few blocks away (the bloody mary's there are amazing) Oh, and for the foodies Mission Chinese just opened just down the street from us!
Your room has a double/full size bed, a bed-side table, and shelving so you can unpack and be comfortable. The bathroom is shared. Feel free to leave your luggage in the hallway leading to your room! The room has two sunny windows, and always new artwork on the walls. There is an air conditioning unit in your room as well for the hot summer months.
We have a great apartment! We are very clean and friendly. We both work and are out and about most of the time.
We are right next door to chinatown. It's an amazing place! I'm a dumpling fan, and we are next to the best in NYC (There are several places I can recommend!). Seward park is a nice place to hang out and people watch, and the food and bar life in the lower east side is awesome. We are only a few minutes away from the walkway along the East River, it has a great view of the Brooklyn bridge and Manhattan Bridge.
It's so close to so many major famous New York places of interest! I've lived here for four years and still finding new interesting things even in my local neighborhood.
I also recommend you check out my guidebook where I've highlighted some of my favorite spots around the neighborhood.
Thinks to remember:
-We live here so you will be staying with us!
-The bathroom is shared
-The area is diverse and extremely safe. Remember, it's NYC, the most diverse city in the world
-We are conveniently located on the 2nd floor
-Usually we can't budge all that much with our check in and check out times. Of course you are more than welcome to leave your bags at the apartment the day of check out if you have a later flight and come retrieve them later. No one wants to lug luggage around the city all day!
We encourage our guests to make themselves totally comfortable. You'll have a set of keys you can come and go as you please. We have towels and sheets for you ready and clean.
Interaction with Guests
Definitely don't feel obligated to spend time getting to know us (though not discouraged!), odds are you are here to see NYC so get out there and see it!!! We both have jobs and like to be out and about ourselves. Usually we like to keep our relationships with our guests non formal and easy going.
Don't worry about being out late! We expect people to be exploring NYC as much as they can while they stay with us. Plus, we are really easy going, it's pretty hard to bother us.
Our neighborhood is great because it is right next to everything you could possibly want to do in NYC, and still it isn't really busy right where we are so it gets quiet in the evenings. We're next to Chinatown so there is some overflow and influence from there. There is a lot of new interest in our neighborhood and new places are popping up all the time. There are several great restaurants and bars close to our place, along with lots of art galleries and coffee shops. All of this is within a 15 minute walk from our apartment.
There is a subway stop 3 blocks away from us which can take you anywhere in the city. It is the F train, and that will take you directly to Midtown (where most of the NY stuff you see on TV and movies takes place) A little further along and you are at the base of Central Park.
There are also all sorts of busses close to us. The bus is a great way to get around and is often overlooked. I like the bus because you get to see the city while you get around, and not a tunnel!
If you have a car or decide to rent one there is off street parking all around, though beware the street sweeping schedules! And finding a parking spot is sort of an art in Manhattan.
Other Things to Note
Please make note that the bathroom and living room are both shared. Light kitchen use is also okay.
You must enjoy your stay in NYC!
We are respectful people and hope for that in return (:
We try to keep check in anytime from 3pm on and check out at 12 noon...this really helps with our transition should there be a following guest. If you need to check in later in the day that of course is fine. If you arrive to the city earlier than 3pm we will try our hardest so you can drop off your bags at our apartment earlier, though I can't guarantee it.
Check out is at 12pm noon.
