It was good overall, from the location to the roommate there. It was so comfortable to use and live there. And unlike the other bad comments about it, it was clean so I think this place is good
Horrible appartement. Wouldn't recommend staying there at all.
The toilet didn't flush properly and the whole appartement stinked nasty.
This room was not comfortable for us! No chairs in the entire flat. dirty. cold. sloooow wifi.
No lock on the room's door! We didn't see the owner never. Flat was open when we're arrived.
One plus — not far from a metrostation and really closer to manhattan.
Manuel was very prompt with the communications.
The place itself is located very close to subway station
and just 5-15 min from Metropolitan museum, etc.
But we would recommend him to improve some elements
in the room we stayed in and the apartment itself:
1. to keep it more clean (the bathroom especially !) and
supply additional toilet paper (at least 1-2 rolls)
2. to fix the beds
3. the floor at the room was dusty and we've got to change
the set of bed sheets because the looked like being used.
Great appartment. I don't have any negative things to say.
Communication with Manuel was easy. I informed him of my arrival time and he provided me with specific directions and his roommate was there to greet me.
The place was clean, it appeared that the cleaning crew had just been through, which was very nice. The room looks identical as it does in the pictures.
The location was great as it is very close to the train. This place was exactly what I was looking for and I recommend staying here when in New York.
Initially, we had a problem where I totally accidentally cancelled the reservation but rebooked immediately within 30 min, but since this host uses strict rules with cancellation, we were only refunded $250 out of the total $500. I contacted the host, and despite the fact that I had explained the mistake to him, that I gave immediate responses when he informed me of the cancellation, and that we never caused him any economic loss, he refused to refund. Eventually, Airbnb took care of it for us but I'm sure not everyone is that lucky with customer service. He is a host who will say that his own mistakes should be understood because this is not a professional facility, but will take advantage of your own human mistakes.
Also, when we arrived, the sheets were covered in a mix of dust, dust bunnies, and hair. The other guests told us they had been picked up from the floor in the common area and just used without cleaning. Manuel said there were clean sheets somewhere but he was never specific so we never found them. Eventually, Airbnb refunded part of the first night.
But the worst part is that, when we arrived, the other guests told us that the family who stayed in our room before us had bed bug issues. But we heard this past 9PM and really had nowhere to go. I actually would have slept in the car if I could go back in time, because now, my apartment has bed bugs! I calculated the number of days it takes bed bug eggs to hatch and I'm sure that this happened during our trip. We did stay at another place before arriving at Manuel's, but the dirtiness of the place, the testimony of the other guests, plus the notice that was apparently up in the building about bed bugs makes me conclude that it must have happened in this apartment. If it weren't for the bugs, I would tell you to stay here if it was your only choice. Because of the bugs, I am telling you to not come here even if it means sleeping in your car or paying hundreds to stay at a hotel.
All people friendly, just furniture and kitchen area might be little more in order. But still they are renovating, so that will probably change...
We stayed at Manuel's place for two nights and it was very nice. The room was clean, fresh towels were provided and the location is great! Also, Manuel's roommate, Martyna, who was there during our stay was very friendly (and beautiful :D) and helped were she could. There was no elevator so walking up four floors multiple times a day was quite a workout :)
THIS IS LONG BUT READ IT
My experience here was THE WORST ever in shared apartments. Stay somewhere else if you can for real...
The apartment was a mess, all dirty, the garbage bag In the middle of the living. A lot of people. The bathroom unbelievably dirty.
The deal was I would sleep in the living Room for the first night because my room was occupied.. When I arrived, there was a couple sleeping on one couch and also there was a dog that wasn't specified on the description that was supposed to leave later that day, but the dog was also sleeping on the couch I was supposed to sleep, all the couches of the living were very very dirty and the sofa bed had some sheets also dirty and full of hairs, I didn't even know where to sit down for a while.
When I went to the bathroom that was the worst, it was SO DIRTY as it hasn't been cleaned for one month or more, I didn't wanted to touch anything; I wanted to take a shower but there were no clean towels for me.
The girl who was going to give me the keys arrived after me and she didn't know where the towels were, I just wanted to go running out of there.
If you don't care a Clean place this is your place but if you care a little bit search for another apartment to stay. I have stayed in so many shared apartments and its not an excuse for not having it clean.
I tried to make a deal because I didn't stay in the apartment, i didnt feel comfortable at all and it didn't fit my necessities so I went somewhere else almost immediately, i had read the cancelation policy But I still tried to ask for a refund at least for the half because it didn't seem fair to me but I didn't have luck, the owner offered me 100usd in refund but then he never answer me back; so i didn't even get the 100; in the end I preferred to go somewhere else even I didn't get my money back than stay there.
In my opinion I really don't know how can people live there. CONCLUSION: SEARCH ANOTHER PLACE, the price doesn't worth it.
Mayra arrived early in the morning before check-in time, and before we could prepare the apartment from the previous day's guests. She saw some friends in the living room who had visited from out of town and stayed over from the night before. They had a dog with them, but they AND the dog both left that very morning, and were not staying in the apartment at all during the dates of Mayra's stay in the apartment. Mayra left the apartment before she even looked at the room she had booked, so its unfortunate she hasn't even really seen this place that she is writing a review about.
