This is a cozy, private entrance, nicely renovated (Fall 2012), apartment in the basement of our personal home. It includes a small bedroom with a double bed, a living room with a high quality, comfy futon. Relax on the reclining loveseat while watching cable TV or using the WIFI. In the chillier months there is a small log fireplace to keep warm.
You can use the microwave or make coffee at the kitchenette area that also has a small fridge and single burne. Walking from the parking area down to the private entrance there are spotlights to light the path.
Two can snuggle up in the double bed in the bedroom. There is also a very comfortable futon that sleeps two in the living room area.
The basement entrance has a nice lower screened in deck with a double swing that faces the backyard fire pit where we can get a fire started for you, providing we have good weather. We usually have S'mores that are always a good addition to the fireside experience. In the cooler months we can whip up some hot chocolate, tea, or coffee to sip as you are mesmerized by the flames. You may see deer or other wildlife roaming the woods!

The neighborhood is on a quiet cul de sac. The road is great for an evening stroll to the main road or a jog up town. There are woods surrounding one side and back of the property. Toccoa Falls on the college or Henderson Falls park is very close for picnics or walks.
There is no public transportation, like public buses. There are taxis in town a mile away. The Amtrak train station is a mile and a half from the house and can be taken south to Atlanta on to Birmingham, AL or north toward Charlotte, NC and on to D.C. There is a small airport in Tocoa about 2 miles from here also.
There are no buses that come through Toccoa.

I had a wonderful stay at Shirley's and Harley's sweet apt. I arrived around 4:00 and Harley greeted me and help carry my things into the apt. I mentioned that I would like to see the Taccoa Falls before dark and he kindly led me right to the falls and brought me into the sign in desk and introduced me as a guest. The apt is as described on the site. It is a lovely setting out back with a grove of trees where you can sit on the deck and enjoy the ambiance of the mountains. Very quiet and safe area, houses not close to each other.
The weather was very hot and humid and I felt the bedroom was too hot for sleeping. Harley quickly remedied the situation upping the air conditioner, wherein the sleeping room was more comfortable. Prior to coming, Shirley had written extensively about the area, restaurants etc. which was very helpful. Shirley was out of town so I did not meet her. I would definitely stay here again if my travels bring me into that area again.
Shirley is a wonderful host. The apartment was very comfortable, clean, and she even left snacks/goodies for the tired traveler (me). Both Shirley and her husband are kind and interesting people, so not only was she was very accommodating but she also had fantastic recommendations for sightseeing in the area. I hope to return to stay in her apartment some day.
This was a tremendous experience. Shirley graciously welcomed us into her home and made sure we had everything we needed from snacks to directions to a lit fire pit! The space was quite cozy and quaint. We really enjoyed our stay and would certainly stay again when traveling to the area.
This was an excellent base as we waited for the train from Toccoa Station. Shirley made us feel so welcome. She even made brownies from scratch for us! She had stocked the kitchen with fresh fruit, milk and breakfast items. It was so incredibly nice. The place looked exactly like the pictures and was very comfortable with everything we needed. There is a beautiful ravine and sitting area. We traveled to Toccoa falls and had a wonderful breakfast in the cute downtown.
Shirley was home to meet me and very helpful, her apt. is very clean in all the right places and the porch is a readers delight. I recommend this place highly.
Shirley was a wonderful host! She left us a well-stocked room (with snacks and toiletries, in case we forgot ours) and gave us great recommendations for places to go and things to do in the area.
We live in the foothills of the Smoky Moutains in NE Georgia. I love taking adventures and going to see new places. Its fun to meet new people and hear about their travels and suggestions.
I love the motto "Live, laugh, love" and all it's variations.
Humor is such an essential part of life so I love to be around fun, truly humorous people.
The amazing expanse that God created, its stars and planets are so fascinating to me. Even dying stars, like giant nebulae are incredible! Always up for watching a meteor shower!!
I love sitting around a campfire & chillin'. Campfire smell is so soothing! Hope it's a nice evening when you visit, if you're interested in pulling up a chair to our backyard fire pit and toasting some S'more! We've also been known to have morning coffee there too!
