This 1920's vintage 3 flat building is a relaxation zone. Located on the first floor, it is comfortable, clean and inviting. Perfect for the guest who likes calm.
The room is located off of the kitchen and is very private. It has a twin bed, night stand, dresser/desk and wardrobe. A coin operated washer and dryer, located in the basement, is available for use. The room can accommodate two people with a blow up mattress, but it will be tight. If you are just looking for a place to sleep this will work.
We are centrally located in Oak Park. Very close to the Hemingway House and Frank Lloyd Wright architecture. There are numerous parks and restaurants within walking distance to enjoy during your stay.
Transportation is about a 15 minute walk to either the Blue Line or Green Line trains (we Chicagoans call it an El or the subway). Both take you directly to downtown Chicago and the Blue Line takes you straight into O'Hare Airport. It takes about 8 minutes by car to the 290 on ramp to downtown Chicago or out to the western suburbs. Downtown Chicago offers a bounty of things to do and visit: museums, Millennium Park, Navy Pier, and the Shedd Aquarium - just to name a few sites, and don't forget the theater.
I have one dog at any given time, sometimes two dogs, depends on whether or not Ava is visiting her friend, Maddie . Both are friendly but they are caged when we are not here, so coming and going is no problem.
This is a no-smoking environment but smoking is allowed outside.
All reservations must go through AIRBNB including last minute reservations.

Excellent Chicago location; easy access by car or train to suburbs or city ; Darlene is welcoming, and very responsive to text messages.
Just as advertised a nice cozy room in Oak Park. Darlene was very welcoming and the family was delightful. Also enjoyed meeting her two friendly doggies.
It was a nice stay in Chicago! Darlene was very friendly:) she took me to the station when I go back to the airport. And I liked her house! I'd like to come back when I visit Chicago again.
Darlene's place is great. Everything was clean and cozy and comfy. Her dog Maddie is an adorable sweetheart. The accommodations are phenomenal and Darlene couldn't be more pleasant and helpful. The location is great in a great town I am moving into (my place turned out to be not quite ready for move in) which is full of parks and beautiful homes. Transportation to Chicago from several sources (blue line, green line or metra) are all within walking distance. For the price you pay you get a wonderful experience.
This old apartment is very well decorated and spacious with good furniture room is very cute.
I go to Chicago for my back treatment and stay there one week after treatment due to huge pain.
We did not have good vibe from the first day because
Darlene thought that I am coming one day after that day.
Wi-fi is not working in the room so that I stayed in the sofa most of time.
Second day, She notified that she will have family member coming over so wants to leave me, I was panicked because of the situation. I feel very devastated and try my best to book any AirBNB last minute but failed so I just go to Motel.
It was a sad story and on the day I left she does not even say bye .
I trusted good review that she got so far, but I think I will trust my gut feeling since now.
As I said, it was a bad match from the beginning. Michelle told me she was arriving at 4:00 pm and showed up at 11:30 am. I was out and came back immediately to let her in. Before I left (again) I drove her to the grocery and she left her food bags on my kitchen floor, which my dog proceeded to get into. She fed my dog chicken (and the fat) and my dog got sick. I only put my dog in a cage when I go out, but because she was sick, I caged her so I could watch her. When I left, she left my dog out of her cage because she did not "think it was okay to lock up a dog." She was here for three days, not two, and on the day she left she asked my granddaughter to help her with her bags and she did. I always say goodbye, because I need to get the key to my house back. I am so sorry about this match, but as I said previously, she seems like a nice woman, but this was not a good fit. As you can see, it was not a good fit for her either.
Darlene's place is really like the description, and it's clean and confortable.... The neighborhood is safe and close to the train when you want to go in Downtown... Darlene is very friendly and she made you feel right... For me, it's really what I expected because i don't want just to find a room like in a hotel but a family ambiance and here, it's the case. A big pleasure to stay here !
Darlene was very hospitable and knowledgeable of the entire city. She had towels and a bottle of water stocked in my room which was very clean and comfortable. I would certainly stay there again if I visit Chicago!!
I have hosted exchange students in the past and enjoyed it very much. I have traveled all around the States, to several countries in Europe, and have been to Mexico a number of times. I have always enjoyed the experiences of travel. At this time in my life I have small passions: traveling, gardening, and a good glass of wine. I look forward to opening my home and meeting people from other places.
