Your accommodation is a solar-powered 2013 Airstream Bambi, parked in the vegetable garden at Mariposa Creamery, a goat microdairy located on the property of the historic Zane Grey Estate in Altadena. Our farm includes a kitchen garden, orchards, chickens, quail, and dairy goats--all on a 1+ acre homestead only 15 minutes from downtown Pasadena or Los Angeles. Your Bambi is stocked with soap from Altadena-based Pine Street Products, including goat's milk soaps made with our girl's milk! We also provide delicious Altadena spring water from our local mountain spring for drinking during your stay. Basic rate includes an optional goat-milking lesson each morning, and a simple farm breakfast delivered to the Bambi is free on request.
The Airstream Bambi has a small kitchenette including a refrigerator, and there is a propane grill on the deck.
If you are planning on visiting on a weekend, we suggest you check the calendar of classes at the Institute of Domestic Technology web site to see if you'd like to participate in food crafting classes (including cheese making) being held during your stay.
Wifi is available in the Airstream and also in the various patio locations around the property. Our property is gated and on-site parking is available.
The main bed of the Bambi is just shy of a full size. The dinette also folds down to make a slightly smaller bed.
There is a $50 cleaning fee per stay.

My parents spent 3 excellent days in this place for their first time in U.S.A ! Gloria take care of them with even fresh breakfast the morning. Thank you to be so sweet !
We had a fun and relaxing time at Mariposa Creamery. The Airstream was cozy, Gloria was a great host, breakfast was delicious, and the goats were so sweet. We were able to hang out with some of the little ones and that was definitely a highlight.
Our hosts were wonderful. The Airstream is clean and comfortable, and the perfect size for the 3 of us. My child had a great time with the adorable goats. We used the grill on the deck to make dinner, and watched "Artois the Goat" on the DVD player. Gloria gave us a wonderful milking lesson in the morning. The breakfast was sumptuous! All in all, a wonderful overnight getaway!
We had a great stay. At first it seemed a little strange staying in a trailer outside a gorgeous mansion, but the Airstream trailer was comfortable, clean and cozy. It was a pleasure to be so near the garden full of greens and herbs. The mansion is a great, old historical building with tons of character and class. But really it's about the goats and the goats are a real joy. They are clearly lovingly cared for. Steve and Gloria obviously treat them as best as can be and allowed us to milk them, hold them and just be with them as much as we wanted to. They generously treated us to an ample supply of fresh goat milk, yogurt, and feta, as much coffee as we could drink, and a lovely breakfast with some of the best jam I ever had (strawberry balsamic?)
It was all and all a very enjoyable and unique time!
We're a family of 4 and stayed in Gloria/Steve's Airstream a couple of nights ago. Very cool and unique experience! ...and especially right in the middle of a residential neighborhood in Altadena!! The trailer sits in the front yard of the Grey Estate. There are people living in the Estate. At first, it was a little weird hanging out on the trailer's porch - knowing we were in full view of the residents. But the anxiety was all ours - they, of course, are very used to people staying in the trailer. (And to be honest, although I looked for them watching us through their windows, I never saw anyone - I think they live in the back side of the building...) Everyone was very friendly and polite to us. We cooked dinner on the propane grill on the porch - and by the time we were serving, we had gotten over the front yard thing and were in our own world. It was great! Boys both chickened out at the chance to milk the goats in the morning, but my wife and I gave it a try and loved it! The boys didn't feel like they missed out, though - they were more than happy petting and loving on the goats! Lots of babies there right now - SOOO soft and playful and sweet!! To cap it all off, Steve brought breakfast to us at the trailer - WOW - what a spread!! I won't list all of the specifics because I'm sure it changes seasonally to reflect what's available at the farm - but it was great!!
It was a great experience I would recommend to anyone - you don't need kids to enjoy the kids (get it?!)...
Go for the goats! The Airstream is great--clean and cozy and comfy and compact. But the goats---and the adorable baby goatlings--are the best thing ever! You can (and should) arrange for a milking lesson, a cheese-making lesson, or just hang out with the gorgeous goat girls (and boys). This is a wonderful get-away in all respects.
This place is as amazing as it looks. I couldn't be happier with our stay. Gloria made us a delicious breakfast, the newborn goats were super cute, and the mansion is gorgeous. The airstream was a picture of efficiency. It's definitely a tiny space, but it's got everything you need, and it was a very cool experience to live in it for a night.
Love this little airstream! everything is so cozy and perfect, 1 night stay is not enough! looking forward to going back.
It was an amazing experience! We stayed in their Airstream trailer while attending The Institute of Domestic Technology's Bread Camp.
The trailer was cozy and warm and the grounds were beautiful.
We especially enjoyed learning about the goats and milking them. I would stay again in a heartbeat!
