Your accommodation is a solar-powered 2013 Airstream Bambi, parked in the vegetable garden at Mariposa Creamery, a goat microdairy located on the property of the historic Zane Grey Estate in Altadena. Our farm includes a kitchen garden, orchards, chickens, quail, and dairy goats--all on a 1+ acre homestead only 15 minutes from downtown Pasadena or Los Angeles. Your Bambi is stocked with soap from Altadena-based Pine Street Products, including goat's milk soaps made with our girl's milk! We also provide delicious Altadena spring water from our local mountain spring for drinking during your stay. Basic rate includes an optional goat-milking lesson each morning, and a simple farm breakfast delivered to the Bambi is free on request.
The Airstream Bambi has a small kitchenette including a refrigerator, and there is a propane grill on the deck.
If you are planning on visiting on a weekend, we suggest you check the calendar of classes at the Institute of Domestic Technology web site to see if you'd like to participate in food crafting classes (including cheese making) being held during your stay.
Wifi is available in the Airstream and also in the various patio locations around the property. Our property is gated and on-site parking is available.
The main bed of the Bambi is just shy of a full size. The dinette also folds down to make a slightly smaller bed.
There is a $50 cleaning fee per stay.

Love this little airstream! everything is so cozy and perfect, 1 night stay is not enough! looking forward to going back.
It was an amazing experience! We stayed in their Airstream trailer while attending The Institute of Domestic Technology's Bread Camp.
The trailer was cozy and warm and the grounds were beautiful.
We especially enjoyed learning about the goats and milking them. I would stay again in a heartbeat!
Surprisingly spacious interior to this beautiful little Airstream. Very comfortable stay with good hot shower. Very very quiet at night.
Gloria was a great host - delicious yogurt, fresh bread, preserves and good coffee in the mornings.
We had a lovely time at the Farmstay in Altadena. We stayed one night. We picked up a pizza and a bottle of wine and ate it on the deck for dinner. The next morning we woke up and learned to milk the goats. When we got back to Bambi after milking the girls, there was apples, oranges, fresh goats milk yogurt, jam and oatmeal breakfast cookies waiting for us. Totally great time!
My husband wanted an experiential birthday present, so I surprised him with a farm stay at Gloria's place in Altadena - he was TOTALLY delighted and we had a great time.
The Airstream is surprisingly plush and cozy and a novel place to stay. We took advantage of the opportunity to milk goats (well, I slept through it, but my husband milked a goat) and spent some time just hanging out with the animals.
It was a unique and fun experience; it was also great and thought-provoking to chat with Gloria about what they do at the farm & creamery. Good stuff.
We had a great time during our farm stay! Gloria is a wonderful host.
We loved our cozy Bambi on the Zane Grey estate, and also the access to parts of the mansion. The provided goat cheese, bread, and coffee breakfast was yummy! The goats are cute, quiet, and entertaining and we saw some chores up close. Gloria and Steve are beautiful people who are intently engaged in a very worthwhile urban farm and learning center. Our stay was a great time for all.
The Bambi is adorable & comfy cozy a little added bonus was the TV...it was perfect for 2 peeps...we enjoyed BBQ's on the wood deck under the stars...waking up was great Gloria our host had fresh coffee, scones that were to die for, fabulous fruit, goat cheese from her own goat farm, goats milk and homemade breads...I took The Institute of Domestic Technology Class Food Crafting 102 which is held on the Property in a Grand Culinary Kitchen...the class was top notch Joseph Shouliner was my instructor he was entertaining and extremely informative and talented in the kitchen Joseph taught me how to pickle carrots & make my own multi-seaded crackers. Dan the beverage instructor showed me how to make Hard Apple Cider and more I also learned how to make a chevre cheese to spread on my new cracker recipe...I also shared the experience with my 9 year old son learning how to milk goats this was a awesome experience for both of us...highly recommend for travelers who like a airstream, outdoors, farm & culinary experience combined or who simply want to enjoy the great outdoors and great peeps!
Gloria and Steve were super-nice, they let us move freely around the premises, were happy to chat and brought us delicious breakfast. There is a whole community of artisanal foodies centered around this place which is super-cool. as our family grows, the trailer will unfortunately be a bit small for two adults and two kids but if they ever add a room inside the house, we are sure to come back regularly.
What a unique experience, with close proximity to the mountains if you'd like to hike.
