Private room in beautiful Capitol Hill home, 1/2 block from Lincoln Park. Walking distance to Eastern Market Metro (6 blocks), Union Station (1 mile) and the Capitol Building (12 blocks).

The Space

There are 2 rooms available in the house; this listing is for:

Small second floor bedroom with either a queen or 2 single Aerobed air mattresses ($70/night)

Also in the house: Sunny large master bedroom on the second floor queen sized bed ($100/night — https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/876290)

The rooms SHARE a full bath on the same floor. Towels, linens, & hairdryer provided. Shower stocked with shampoo, conditioner & soap.

I will be occupying the basement bedroom during your stay along with my affectionate yet sometimes elusive cat.

Guest Access

Guest will have use of the rest of the large Victorian house with full living room, dinning room, kitchen, and back deck.

Getting around

The street parking in my neighborhood is free & unlimited on weekends and limited to 2 hrs on weekdays (7am-8:30pm). There are most often spaces to be found on my block during the day, and while the street gets crowded at night, there is usually something to be found within a block or so.

The closest Metro station is Eastern Market, about 7 blocks away; and Union Station, about a mile away. There are buses that drop-off and pick up a 1/2 block from my house. And there is a City Bike station a block away -- a fun way to get around!

Other Things to Note

Check-in and -out times are often flexible, and its always possible to leave luggage at the house before/after your stay — just let me know what works best for you when you inquire.

  • The location is great, it's close to the Lincoln Park, Eastern Market, Capitol Hill and the Union Station. Heather's house and its bedroom are very nice. We like the Asian style in the house and the cozy bedroom made us feel comfortable. The kitchen is big enough and you can find anything you need for cooking. Also, the co-host Aaron is very warmhearted. There are two lovely cats in the house but they're very quiet at night. Thanks for the hosting from Heather and Aaron, we had a great stay in this house.

  • Heather's house is lovely and she was very friendly and accommodating. Everything was clean and tidy. We visited in late June, and the neighborhood was gorgeous, with the urban canopy in its full splendor, and plants/flowers everywhere. It is a short walk to Eastern Market (both the market itself and the Metro station), and to a Capital Bikeshare station, which allows for quick and easy access to the Capitol and the Mall. I would definitely stay again and highly recommend it.

  • Heather was a very accommodating host, easy-going, and insightful about local events during our brief stay. Her comprehensive list of the best local attractions and eateries was also helpful.

Check-in was a seamless experience, and Heather was very flexible with times. She was quick to respond to all communication before and also during our stay.

The house itself is very clean, with beautiful artwork adorning the walls, and two friendly cats who add to the homely feel. The location is in the middle of a quaint neighbourhood with tree-lined streets, and centrally located to all the main sights of DC. Although our bed was a blow-up mattress, the foam pad topper made it very comfortable to sleep on.

Overall experience was great, and we'd gladly stay here again.

  • Heather is an excellent, very professional host. The room and bathroom was nice and clean and the location in Capitol Hill couldn't have been better.

  • Heather's place is perfectly located 10 minutes away from the Capitolium. You couldn't ask for anything better than that! Even though I used the second room which had an inflatable mattress, there was another mattress on top of it so it made that a really really comfortable bed.
The house was perfectly clean and really cozy and Heather was more than helpful when it came to meeting all our "special needs" such as early checkin or luggage drop. It's definitely a place I will go back to when I go back to DC.

  • Even though it was a very quick stay, we enjoyed staying at Heather's house - the room was clean and comfortable, and Heather's welcome letter was very helpful. We will definitely try to stay here when we are back in DC.

About
I am an acupuncturist who has lived in New Hampshire, Oregon, California, Hawaii, Australia and Brazil, and who after quite a number of years here is still surprised to find myself living in Washington DC. I love my Capitol Hill neighborhood because it has a community feel with wide treelined streets along with the advantages of the city -- metro, shops, restaurants, and parks. As a host I'm happy to give you tips as to the best way to get around town and interesting places to go, as well as providing you plenty of privacy. My goal is to help you feel comfortable and at ease in my home.
