About This Listing
The room is located in a 2 Bedroom NYC apartment situated in the cusp of Upper East Side and Spanish Harlem, now known as SPAHA. (100th and Lexington Avenue)
The host stays in one of the rooms.
It is a great mix of the Latino culture with a little injection of the Upper East Side. It definitely has the urban feel but you also feel the change and gentrification.
The "6" train station is only 4 blocks away. It will take you 20 minutes by train to get to 14th street Union Square park which is one of my favorite parks.
Central park is only 6 blocks away (a 8-10 min walk). Central Park around this area is very calm and quiet. Lots of families, dogs and it is not so crowded by tourists.
The Metropolitan Museum is only 15 blocks down. You can either walk or take the bus.
The apartment has:
- Two bedrooms, one is the host's and the one renting out (photos) with a closet, desk chair, two windows with lots of light. The bed is a "full/double" size.
- one living room, with a large L-shape couch.
- bathroom and kitchen. (The bathroom and kitchen are pretty compact like many of the nyc apartments.
- Heat, AC and Wi-Fi internet connections are included.
The apartment is located in a pre-war building. Pre-war buildings are fairly old with some original moldings. You will definitely feel what nyc used to be like. The apartment is in the third floor. This building doesn't have elevator. Also pretty common in the city.
I have a background as a creative director. Now, I work with a non profit that inspires underrepresented kids to pursue higher education.
I Love photography, colors and books, hence you can see them in all the apartment. I love new cultures. II speak English, Spanish and Portuguese in case it is needed.
There is a laundry place two blocks down. You can wash and dry for about $5 dollars.
On the same block you will find a convenience store, one french restaurant and one burger place which offers over 20 different sauces.
If you want to explore Spanish Harlem you will find a bunch of Mexican restaurants that I can recommend.
If you want to explore the Upper East Side you just need to walk 5 blocks down and will find many restaurants, bars and pubs. There is an Starbucks 4 blocks away.
Feel free to message me if you have any questions.

My friend and I visited New York in November/December 2014 for two weeks and arrived at Mauricio’s apartment after midnight. He was ever so kind to receive us at that time which I believe could have been an inconvenience.
On Thanksgiving, Mauricio was kind enough to spend time with us over breakfast that he made especially for us. He was very helpful in ordering our food from the local Chinese restaurant and suggesting other places to eat around the area.
Even when he travelled back home at the beginning of our second week, he remained in contact with us during our stay, to ensure that everything was well with us. We also had the pleasure of meeting Mauricio's brother, who was also very lovely and booked a taxi for us to get to the airport.
The apartment is located in a nice neighbourhood, with a lot of shops around. It is also close to the subway which makes it easy to get downtown and around. The bedroom has a double bed which I found comfortable with no complains. The flat and especially the room was very warm, at times we slept with the window open.
I enjoyed my holiday and would recommend this apartment.
Our stay at Mauricio's was great! We felt like home :) we arrived very tired from the long flight and there were a very cozy and tidy room waiting for us. Mauricio is a very attentive and extremely easy going host, so I pretty much recommend his apartment, which is near to every important place you probably wish to visit in NY. A very safe neighborhood, you can get back on foot late at night and there will be no problem at all. I'm certainly staying there again as soon as I can visit NY in some other vacation!
We love New York! This was the first time we used airbnb and was a really good experience for us, the apartment is beautiful, great location near the subway and Mauricio was a really good host. He even invited us to go out and gave us recommendations of the best places to visit and best way to travel around the city.
If we visit New York again we will definitly stay in Mauricio's apartment! Now we have a new friend!
Great place in NYC! Subway and everything you need very close! Apartment just like in the pictures and very clean. We felt safe any time on the neighborhood even 3am. Mauricio is very friendly and respectful. Strongly recomend staying here!!

Although we did not met Mauricio in person, he made sure that we really had everything we needed during our stay.
His great is great and is located near the Central Park. From here it is very easy to go downtown, visit any sight you can think of and it's an easy ride home with the subway after a night out!
