The Sugar Shack was the perfect HQ for our month-long stay on the Big Island. We had great access to everything we wanted to do, and on the days that we wanted to just kick back, the patio was an ideal spot. The ocean is a two-minute walk away. We chose to catch some of the sunsets from the shoreline that you can access by walking through the pathways of the condo complex at the end of the road. The view there is hard to beat, a full 180-degree view of the ocean. Would love to stay here again in the future.

We spend eleven nights here with our two young kids, and our parents. The balcony has a great sunset view. The kitchen and the whole house was well equipped. We would stay here again.

My family and I had a wonderful time staying at John's place. The place is fully equipped with whatever you may need, and the deck provides a wonderful space for eating any meal throughout the day. I would suggest this place to anyone - especially those that are looking for a laid-back and cozy atmosphere.

It was great to have stayed at this accommodation. His advice for the direction and where to find the key was accurate. The key box is attached on the pole at the porch, just in front of the main door!!! It was very hot inside the house on arrival and hard to spend the evening inside the house without air conditioning, but gradually getting better by the time we went to bed. (We realised that it was because the windows were closed during the day on the day.) We occasionally have found some insects and lizards visiting us at house, but other than that, it was very quiet and we especially enjoyed to have breakfast and dinner at the balcony. Thank you very much, John!! Highly recommended. (FYI, there are two hair dryers!)

We had an amazing week on the Big Island staying at the Sugar Shack and wish we were still there. The location is really convenient with shops, restaurants, and the waterfront very close by. We were very fortunate to have Ray there when we got there to give us lots of inside tips on things to see and do in the area. It was really warm in July so we were very thankful to have the air conditioning in the master bedroom. Thank you for opening your home to us. We hope to return again soon!

The Sugar Shack was an awesome find. A comfortable home with lots of space - 3 large nicely decorated bedrooms and adequate bathrooms to accommodate the maximum number of guests. It was ideally located - an easy walk to my meeting and close to a shopping center and the highway. Everything was provided in the house that any guest would possibly need. A very clean, well kept home.

After living in Kona for more than 6 years work forced me to relocate for most of the year to NYC. I try to return to the Big Island a couple times a year. Its where my soul is rooted and home to the best people I've ever found anywhere.
