The Space

PRIVATE ROOM in Coral Gables with TWO TWIN SIZED AIRBEDS and shared bath, in a safe residential neighborhood.
It's a ten minute walk to downtown Coral Gables business district, Miracle Mile shops and restaurants. FREE Coral Gables Trolley available weekdays. Public golf course (great for walking, jogging and bicycling) and historic Venetian Pool are minutes away. Easy access to public transportation - Metrobus, Metrorail, and Miami International Airport ( 15 minutes away )

Hello. Welcome to Coral Gables, the City Beautiful. A Mediterranean Revival Style, pre-planned community, incorporated in 1925. It is a pedestrian friendly destination, minutes from Miami International Airport. I am offering a clean, comfortable furnished room in a single family home, with wireless internet service, and parking.
The downtown area, a short 10 minute walk, has about 140 dining establishments and gourmet shops, and many notable international retailers. There’s local bookstores and coffee shops, as well as sports bars to watch your favorite team. There’s also Gables Cinema nearby if you’re a movie buff. If you enjoy live music, there’s jazz on Saturdays (email hidden)/ restaurant, The Globe. There’s a local Publix supermarket within walking distance. Downtown also has a FREE CORAL GABLES TROLLEY running weekdays from 6:30am to 6pm. It will drop you off at the MetroRail station if you desire to visit downtown Miami, or shopping at upscale Merrick Park. Blocks from my home is a nine hole public golf course, with a café offering breakfast and lunch. There is a local branch library nearby as well.

My home is centrally located, in a beautiful neighborhood, with lots of greenery. From MIA, a 15-20 minute ride by public bus or taxi. Taxi is about $20, bus is $2.25. The house is approximately 1,700 square feet. With two rooms available for guests. One with a king sized bed and shared bath, the other with twin bed, and a shared bath . The home has central air too. You are welcome to use the kitchen, dining room and living room. There’s also a patio out back, and a hammock as well, underneath the mango tree. There’s coffee, tea, oatmeal, and sometimes fresh bread available for breakfast. If you don’t have transportation. I also have local tour books, maps of Coral Gables, and maps of the Miami area for your use. If you wish to kayak during your stay, I can make arrangements. I also have a car for rent.

Nearby sights include Venetian Pool, an aquifier fed pool built from a rock quarry, and on the National Register of Historic Places. There’s also the famed Biltmore Hotel. A 1920’s style hotel with an incredible lobby, and pool area. If you are in town on a Sunday, there are tours of this historic place, including the Al Capone suite, which several US presidents, and other dignitaries have stayed while visiting Miami. There’s also a Sunday brunch that it to be believed. Make reservations in advance, and bring an appetite. Don't miss a photo of the DeSoto Fountain on your way to the Biltmore.

Miami Beach is a 20-30min car ride, an hour via Metrobus.
It's also a 15-20 minute car ride to Key Biscayne, home of the Sony Open Tennis Tournament. Crandon Park, and Bill Baggs State Park, and the Cape Florida Lighthouse. Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden is nearby, as well as the Lowe Art Museum at the University of Miami.

TRANSPORTATION: Bus stops are minutes away. Metrobus #42 from the airport, and # 24 will take you downtown Miami, where you can make a transfer to catch a bus to Miami Beach, if that is on your list.

  • I rented Jim's room for my dad, whom needed a place to stay while he waited for his new apartment when he moved to Miami. Jim was incredibly nice and my dad could not have been happier!!! The are is located in a very cute area near miracle mile and walking distance to the free Coral Gables shuttle. I'm very grateful with Jim and I recommend his place 100% !!!! :)

  • Jim was such a great host!! This house is in an amazing location, walking distance to shops and only a block or so away from a beautiful running loop around a golf course. Location is perfect!! Jim has two adorable dogs who are both so sweet and loving! I miss Smokey and Brickell already!! Jim is also a wonderful person, very kind, accommodating, and full of insights about Miami. He definitely can fill you in on the good places to go! He even hooked me up with a contact he has in Australia (where I'm heading soon). There were other people at the house when I was there too, so I got to meet lots of cool people! I highly recommend Jim, he embodies the spirit of air bnb!!

  • This was my first airbnb experience and I was very impressed. I had 2 nights in Miami before flying home so Jim's place was perfect. Very easy to find from the airport and close enough to Dolphin Mall which was my main aim of the stay!!
Jim was an absolute gent of a host; friendly, helpful and kind (walked me and my very heavy bags to the bus stop)- it's a very laid back house with 2 beautiful dogs to welcome you every time you come in! I would have no hesitation in recommending Jim's place to anyone and I will be back!!

    Thanks again for everything.

  • That was my first time using airbnb and the experience was great. Jim is a really good guy, the room is very comfortable and the neighborhood is safe and beautiful, you can walk at night from downtown Coral Gables to the house without problems. There's a bus stop a block away from the house and you can use the #24 bus to go straight to downtown Miami for only $2.25.

    I really recommend this place.

I'd describe myself as a person who enjoys both solitude, and the company of others, especially those with a travel bug, and a unique, non-conventional approach to life. I am into fitness, and healthy eating. I love to cook, and enjoy kayaking, bicycling, motorcycles, and live music I have two friendly dogs. I'm a self employed sales and marketing professional. I also enjoy reading, some movies, and growing tropical fruit trees - I grow mango, longan, carambola, jackfruit, fig, avocado, and papaya in my yard.
