The Space

Our home is a very unique place in Dublin, Myself and partner run a website and food project called 'News of the Curd' our home is a central place for all things food and drink in Dublin, most weeks we host a 3 course meal to the public. If you happen to stay with ourselves on that evening you are more than welcome to partake! We are both very active in the community and very social. Kevin a life time Dublin knows all the spots and sights to make your stay amazing! Our apartment is inside of an older factory it's warm and welcoming. It always smells of good food. The kingsize bed comfortably fits two people! There's a big auld wardrobe for you to keep your stuff and balcony to look over the street. Bed linen and towel provided. LGBT friendly household. You are no more than 10 minutes away from anywhere in the City!

Guest Access

You will have your own private en suite bathroom, access to our sitting room and kitchen, though the kitchen is always a bit busy.

Interaction with Guests

We also live here in the room across the hall, we are both very chatty if you want to chat. With suppers each week we are used to having new people around. If you happen to have a meal you will get to interact with some of the most socially aware people in Dublin, find out whats on and make the most of your stay.

The Neighborhood

As we are in the centre of Temple Bar, the weekend can be on the noisy side, midweek it's pretty quite, less the few shouters. We live two floors above a nightclub, which depending on what you are used to, can be a little loud, so just incase we can give you a set of ear plugs. Depending on what music the club has on, on a particular night there can be quite a bit of bass

Getting around

Dublin is great for getting around. You can walk almost anywhere, we are about 30 seconds away from a public bike rental station and about 15 min walk from most major city attractions.

  • Temple Bar location allows for walking to most sites. As warned, the night club below the flat is very loud, with the vibrations more of a problem than the noise itself (which is muted fairly well by the ear plugs the hosts provided). I was there Thursday and Friday nights and only Friday was an issue for that. The room was as pictured. Comfortable king-sized bed. No issues with bathroom or showering, other than having to plan to allow for the water to heat up, but not a problem. Kevin gave me a good recommendation for lunch when I arrived. I met them both on my arrival-other than that, I had no interaction with them.

  • Robin and Kevin's apartment is in a great central location near next to the Olympia Theatre, Temple Bar. The room was very clean and comfortable, and Kevin gave me a couple of great tips on local cafes and things to do. For seriously good coffee, make sure to visit Fumbally cafe which is a 15 minute walk from the apartment.

  • Kevin was a great host and this apartment is, as others have said, about as centrally located as you could get! The room's very cozy and Kevin was super accommodating and friendly in offering recommendations and helping me get situated. Would definitely stay here again.

  • Great experience! Robin and especially Kevin were friendly, helpful, and had great suggestions and information. Room was as described with comfortable bed and en suite bathroom. Using switch to turn on hot water was not an issue. Also, great location within walking distance to dining, shopping, tourist attractions, train stations (even with luggage), and bus stops. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to others!

  • Hard to say what to say about this week long stay.
Better suited for a younger person comes to mind.
You'd have to be sleeping in the street to be more in the center of Temple Bar.
I was amply warned and you should be too. :-)

There is loud club music on the weekends and maybe some weekday nights too. The famous Olympia Theatre is just across the alley way.
And as is the nature of this, you don't really hear the music so much as the loud pounding of the base beat.
It reverberates up from that narrow alley below to a become a near window shaking, teeth rattling, cadence of pounding and drumming that seems to go on forever.
    Its quite the experience really.

Almost as loud is the cacophony of conversion from the friendly crowd. Clearly enjoying themselves. You are welcome to join them.

Surprisingly when the drumming stops, usually sometime after 3 a.m. the nearly as loud conversations linger for almost another hour. They are clearly disappointed the night has passed on so quickly.
Finally the night terminates with the staccatoed screams and hoots of some adolescent men announcing the end of the nights revalry, not unlike how a rooster might signal the breaking of dawns light... (were the rooster partial to profanity). And with dawns light conveniently being only another two hrs away (during the summer months) should you still be lying awake for some reason, another night in Temple Bar has passed.
Luckily you're on holiday and can sleep in. Robin and Kevin do.

And don't blame Kevin and Robin for the noise, they are great hosts.

  • This is probably the best-located place I've ever had the opportunity to stay at during a European vacation! What a gem! Robin and Kevin are gracious hosts. We arrived right before their weekly public dinner, but Kevin still carried up my bag and gave us a wonderful welcome. We got to attend their dinner and it was really impressive. My husband and I both agreed that we probably wouldn't have been able to afford such a delicious, locally-sourced meal on our own. To be honest, we were pretty sick during our stay with a cold, so I don't know if we were great company. But we still did all of the tourist stuff, so we came home totally exhausted every night. The king size bed was a welcome sight and we slept wonderfully. The nightclub really wasn't an issue at all. I always bring earplugs during travel (and they actually had a pair waiting for us!), and my husband sleeps like a log. So the Temple Bar location was DEFINITELY worth it. By the way, the water heater switch is a non-issue. If you can master a light switch, you can master Robin and Kevin's shower.

  • I stayed here for 5 happy days and Kevin and Robin were great and very friendly hosts.
Kevin even called me to offer an umbrella when it was rainy and carried my suitcase up- and downstairs!

The room is nice and cosy with a big bed and if you are aware of the night club downstairs (only at the weekend), you can enjoy your time in Dublin.
Because this is in the middle of Temple Bar everything is in walking distance.
Thanks and I would visit again.

  • Robin and Kevin were just the most friendly and amazing hosts. The space was perfect for my hubby and I. We had been on the road for 7 days prior to getting to Dublin and had slept in tiny beds dotted around Ireland. I was so ecstatic to see that the bed inside the flat was a nice, big, fluffy, mass of coziness! The location could not have been better, right in the middle of everything. Perfect, perfect, perfect!
When we arrived and settled in, they kindly invited us to go and have a beer at a local Asian hot spot located in a basement. Of course we accepted and had the privilege of getting to know our hosts. Thank you guys so much for having us. Best! xo

  • Robin and Kevin were great hosts!

This was my first experience and Robin was kind enough to help me organise my profile and make sure I had all the information a host would need. They also kept in contact while we got a little lost hunting for their place :)

Their place is fantastic and if we hadn't had to actually go sightseeing I could happily stayed and read over the impressive comic book collection. We hardly even noticed the club downstairs and it's fantastically close to all the major sites in Dublin meaning you can literally do the whole place by foot.

Couldn't recommend them anymore and I would persuade anyone looking for a nice place in Cental Dublin to go here
