We had the pleasure of visiting Magaly's beautiful chalet over Memorial Day weekend 2015. Our group included two 30-something couples and two dogs. A lovely time was had by all!
The home is a very convenient drive off the Teconic but feels a million miles away. There are no homes or even streets in sight from inside the house, all you see in any direction (including up! Every room has a skylight) is a beautiful forest.
The living room has an incredible wood beamed and vaulted ceiling and cozy couches. The kitchen is very nice and we made good use of the new grill outside. All of the beds were comfortable and we appreciated that they were already made up for us when we arrived.
Downtown Hudson and Chatham are both quite close and we had fun exploring the towns on foot with our dogs.
Magaly was a wonderful host, and made herself available by text if we had any questions over the course of the weekend. Overall, a great experience!
Wonderful post and beam construction home. Accommodations were comfortable and welcoming. Location is perfect for visitors ready to explore the surrounding Berkshire attractions. Biggest surprise were the wonderful area eateries. Nearby Hudson and Catskill are a foodies dream!! Thanks Magely.

We had a lovely winter weekend stay. Some notes:
- due to a lot of snow, we did have to hike up the steep driveway, which is no easy task. it took about 20-25mins with kids and tears were shed. we had to make a few trips up and down.
- the tap water tastes like sulphur.
- it would be wise to bring all of the food and water you'll need, and kleenex, if going in the winter.
- our first night in the house was very chilly and we put on multiple layers, wool socks, slippers, and huddled by the fire.
- the firewood was buried in snow so we made an excursion to get more. lots more!
- eventually the house warmed up and our second night was much more comfortable.
- the shower water temp is marked opposite...hot for cold and vice versa. got very nice and warm once we figured that out!
- layout works out well for 2 couples or a family with 3 kids.
- there are sleds and the driveway has a long steep incline.
Stayed here with my girlfriend for a few days in January. It was a cozy getaway and just the type of place we hoped for. Nice fireplace, comfy bed, kitchen had plenty of utensils for making meals.
There was plenty of firewood outside the house (mostly unchopped and in a bit of snow). We had a good time figuring out where the ax was and how to properly split the logs for the fireplace - but we were pros in no time!
All in all we had a great time and I recommend it to anyone. The driveway was a solid block of ice when we stayed - so we parked on the street and hiked up the driveway. Hope you enjoy your stay at the chalet!
This house is great for a winter get away. The fireplace is a dream come true. The bedrooms are cozy and private. The master bedroom has a skylight for star gazing, this was a pleasant surprise. The kitchen is fully equipped for heavy cooking. It's a great location just a 30 minute drive to Hudson in NY and the Kripula Institute in Mass. We enjoyed our stay there immensely.

About the Host, Magaly
Hey! I’m Magaly. I started hosting international students 8 years ago and enjoyed the experience so much I began renting out other family-owned properties. When I’m not spending time with my husband and three daughters (or working), I like salsa dancing. I’ve lived in the New York City area since childhood and am delighted to share what I know about being a local and how to experience this incredible city. Renting/hosting travelers has enriched my life and I want to continue providing affordable residential accommodations from homestays and apartment shares to private rooms and vacation rentals.
