This was a very functional place. Great location in the city. We were able to walk to restaurants easily. Our host was very helpful with reservations for activities. I would definitely recommend for the price.

As described. Easy to find, checking and stay. Host was very friendly and nice. Place is very central and close to anything you need in the area. Walking distance to great restaurants, shops, and tours. Room was clean and quiet. Thank you!

Everything is as described. Wonderful cute place to stay while in La Fortuna. Would definitely recommend to people, especially those looking for a "homey" experience.

The good is that is is centrally located. The room was clean and the people friendly, the wifi was fast and the shower hot. The bad is that our room was unbearably hot during the day. There is no AC, but the room is even hotter than the rest of the house because there is only one small window. Also it is right by the main road, so expect to hear cars, trucks and motorcycles all night.

Response from Peter:
yes, this time of year it is hot since we are close to the equator so we encourage guests to go to the river for a cool swim during the day rather than speneding time in the house

Heidy operates most of the customer interaction, and Peter was there too. We found Heidy friendly, but Peter was less predictable. We initially had a few very pleasant conversations, but when we decided that we did not want to book tours directly with him, without thinking our options through, we noticed a change in tone. We also noticed preferential behaviour towards those guests who booked activities with them, and this made the rest of our stay uncomfortable. We later realised that tour operators literally within 100m were offering the same package for less. Others have reviewed that this guest house does over charge, so do not be misguided by what might appear to be an offer of help. For example we found we could do a Kayak tour for $8 pp less than what Peter quoted. Also, a fellow traveller told us they paid $10 pp less for the Baldi Hot Spring package than what we paid Heidy. Worst of all, after checking out, we were asked for additional payments which had already been made, and for a ticket that we never received. TAKE CARE if you chose to book your activities here, ensure that you ask for a receipt of payment and do your homework before so you don't get ripped off. Read reviews on other sites too, this place is advertised on other sites. The single bed in our room, room 5, was very uncomfortable, so we shared a double bed. Was dark in our room in spite of all the lights being on Good location just off main plaza, local eateries and tour operators within walking distance. Great opportunity to cook simple meals Large, quirky living space which was really comfortable. Good communication in the run up.

We liked our stay in the house of Peter. The athmosphere is nice and the house is situated very central. The check in was perfect. Heidi explained us everything perfectly! :-) Just two, three rude comments of Peter in some situations which would really not have been necessary. But in total, we can recommend staying there.

Peter Ferguson the owner of the The Sleeping Indian Guesthouse and welcomes international travelers from all over the world.. Peter is a world traveler who has explored many varied countries and environments and has chosen La Fortuna as his favorite place on the planet and is enthusiastic about sharing his knowledge of this special area of a special country. The Sleeping Indian Guesthouse is centrally located in downtown La Fortuna named after a little chain of mountains next to Volcano Arenal in La Fortuna, Costa Rica. The wind and rain of millions of years of evolution has formed a chain of mountains that looks just like a sleeping indian. The more you look- the more you are amazed, since it seems that these giant mountains actually are a big Indian lying down. We think that no matter what kind of traveler you are, everybody likes to feel at home. Making you feel at home is Peter's goal. He loves people and he loves hosting.
