Some More Detail….
New garden studio situated at the rear of my home, which is located in the Sydney suburb of Marrickville.
With it's own bathroom and kitchenette the Garden studio has it's own access down a side path of the main house, which is also used by the household chickens to access the front garden.
At night the path is lit with security sensor lights. It's a very quiet neighbourhood and the Garden Studio is a lovely sunny place to relax before or after sightseeing. Nice and quiet at night too if getting a good nights sleep is important.
Transport is good, with a 15 minute taxi ride to or from the airport in moderate traffic.
We are situated close to buses that take you to the city centre 8km's away. The nearest bus stop is a short 2 minute walk through the park at the end of the street.
Petersham Train station is a 10 minute walk away.
Marrickville train station is 15 min walk.
Dulwich Hill train station is a 10 min walk away.
An easy 15 minute walk away, Marrickville’s restaurant precinct is a great place to explore and enjoy affordable places to eat with a great diversity of food cultures, Vietnamese, Greek, Thai and Chinese and Japanese.
Dullwich Hill which is an easy 10 minute walk away provides the closest local shops with a good supermarket for supplies and a couple of good cafes, some great deli's and a good bookshop.
Every Sunday Marrickville’s popular organic market is open early until mid afternoon, a pleasant 15 minute walk it’s worth a visit.
Newtown is a short 10min bus ride away, or a pleasant yet slightly longer walk, 30 mins. Famous for it’s wonderful restaurants, cafes and shopping.
The Garden studio has only recently been built, with a modern bathroom and Kitchenette. The kitchenette is well equipped with a bar fridge, mircrowave, toaster, kettle, egg poacher and a toasted sandwich maker.
There is also a BBQ in the backyard available for guests to use. You are welcome to forage in the veggie garden for fresh herbs and spinach.
There is a TV and DVD player, with a selection of movies available. There is wifi for internet connection.
Muesli, porridge, milk and bread is provided on arrival in the breakfast hamper.
You can also enjoy a fresh egg thanks to Bette, Ingrid and Ivy the 3 household chickens, along with tea and coffee, homemade jam, and other toast spreads.
The queen size bed is situated up a ladder in a loft area. It’s an easy ladder to climb, but a ladder just the same so it may not suit everyone. Sheets are provided with Duvet and an extra blanket and an Electric oil heater during winter.
I work in the main house, so can be available if you need some direction, if privacy is more your thing we can make sure (for the most part) the back yard is all yours. The garden studio faces out on to the garden and then onto the photographic studio where I work, so there are people around in the main house during the week day business hours, weekends you would have the garden all to yourselves (except for when I may need to water the veggie patch).
As a Sydney local, and having lived in Marrickville for over 10 years I’m well equipped to help with any questions you might have about the city or local area.
If you are traveling with a car there is plenty of parking on the street, free all day.
You are welcome to email me with any questions you might have.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Would prefer no shoes in the studio.
Goodness. An air bnb host with both a great sense of style AND with relaxed insight into what makes for guests feeling really welcome and comfortable. The linen was yummy to sleep in and the plethora of breakfast and snack offerings in the basket and fridge were also a great treat. We could walk to more in the area than we even managed to do in the 3 days we were there (so there is no shortage of great food or entertainment). Even with an air mattress on the downstairs floor my friend and I felt we had plenty of room. We'd stay there again in a flash. Next time we'll bring our nona trolleys, and cooler bags and shop up on goodies from the Greek deli and places on illawarra rd.
Stylish and beautifully clean. Everything I needed and a great location. Cath is lovely and helpful.
Very convenient to the airport and a vibrant local community, Cath and her place were very accommodating and friendly and the bungalow is to be recommended for short stays. Its small and gets some aircraft noise but its also well maintained, clean, very comfortable and Cath provided a bunch of great breakfasty snacks - I was lucky enough to get some freshly baked muffins also!
Thank you Cath for a fantastic stay. The Studio was just as described in the listing with all the amenities and appliances one could wish for. The breakfast hamper and well stocked refrigerator made me feel very welcome. Plenty of towels and the shower is a dream. The neighbourhood is quiet and a ten minute walk across the park to the station. I highly recommend the Garden Studio to anyone wanting a base in Sydney out of the city centre.
Lovely set up! Who expected chickens and a veggie garden in a. Small suburban setting?? I loved seeing the chickens. Wandering a mongst the frangipanis and greeting me as I left in the morning or as I arrived home. Cath has done a wonderful job creating a sweet and very comfortable place for her guests to stay. Her breakfast hamper was divine and she thought of everything to make her guests welcome! Thank you!!!
Cath's place was lovely and she was a great host. She left us to our own devices most of the time, but was always available and forthcoming with great advice about the area and very generous with her delivery of home-baked bread, a muesli slice that she made and fresh eggs from her cooks. Marrickville is a really nice area - very quiet and relaxed, but with plenty of dining options within a 15 minute walk and the city and Newtown also very accessible via public transport. Highly recommended!
