Why stay on a Merlot Vineyard surrounded by textural views of the local mountains with lullabies from foxes and owls and morning wake ups from turkeys gobbling in the distance? It's probably the fresh eggs from the hen house or the local hospitality

Doug and I appreciate time away for respite. We are here to help with any needs that arise but completely respect your desire for privacy which can be absolute.
We love living in this valley. Most families have several generations of history with respectful ties to the earth through agriculture. It has a home town friendliness and pace that is welcoming and relaxing.
There is an Amtrak station about five miles from the location;.

Our stay at Doug and Judy's was fabulous! We could not have been happier- accommodations were clean, beautiful and honestly one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in!
I'm by no means a frequent reviewer for anything on Yelp or Airbnb or whatever, but I had to make an exception for this stay. Our hosts were exceptionally accommodating, friendly and hospitable, and provided our group of 5 with so many extras that I won't list because I don't want future guests to think that they're obligations.
I confidently give them a 6 out of 5 stars, because they really went the extra mile for us. Their own vineyard and walking distance to grazing pastures, wineries, restaurants, etc. really rounds out a perfect wine tasting weekend. The guest house is impeccable, 100% clean, and stocked with everything you need to make it feel like home. We will definitely check to see if they're available the next time we go wine tasting, no question. It was worth every dime. If you're going to stay around Napa for vacation, you might as well make the experience complete with your choice of overnight stay.
Some friends and I recently stayed at the Guest House on Merlot Vineyard, and it was FANTASTIC! Exactly what you see in the listing page, and better. Doug and Judy were warm and friendly, treating us like friends rather than strangers. They made us feel right at home when we arrived at their beautiful property, inviting us to use the nice outdoor seating area where they and their family had been visiting when we arrived, to enjoy a walk or run in the vineyard, to pick fresh eggs from the chicken coop in the morning, and even to jump on their super fun trampoline! Unfortunately, our stay was short, so we didn't get a chance to do these things, but we all agreed we would LOVE to come back again for longer. When we went inside, we found a delicious cheese plate with crackers, grapes, and nuts. Doug and Judy even saved an Easter egg with lotto scratchers inside for each of us from their family Easter egg hunt earlier that day! The guest house itself was immaculate. Very clean and organized, and stocked with everything we needed--clean towels, toiletries, ingredients for a full breakfast, Keurig coffee and other drinks, DVDs, and games. There was no Wifi, but Judy had already warned us about this, and we didn't miss it since we were there to relax and get away from the daily grind. We had a very comfortable, restful stay. The next day we took advantage of the complimentary wine tasting at the Vezer Family Vineyard, which we really enjoyed--good wine, beautiful setting, and friendly service. There we learned that we could also enjoy another complimentary tasting at their second tasting room just down the road. Unfortunately we were on a tight schedule and weren't able to go, but we all hope to come back again!
'WOW', this is how we felt the whole time while staying at Doug & Judy's place. We were soooooooo happy & thankful that we chose this place for our 'post-wedding' vacay / 'pseudo' honeymoon with our parents.
Judy & Doug were so friendly & welcoming that our parents thought we had known each other for a while. They showed us around the house and we immediately regretted we were only staying for one night...
The guest house has EVERYTHING you'd ever need - food - a big cheese platter & fruits, juice, fresh eggs, toiletries, washer/dryer...EVERYTHING. This is a place that you really get to relax and not want to do anything distractive (especially being on your smartphone or computer). Honestly, their place is the definition of 'Vacation'.
We really enjoyed the wedding gift surprise that Doug & Judy had prepared for us at the end of our trip. If we had not had something scheduled for the next day, we'd definitely extend our stay.
Thank you for making our stay so wonderful, Judy & Doug! We'd definitely come back again!!!
We had a wonderful stay for my birthday weekend! There were 6 of us total, and we spent the day in Napa, and came to the house in the early evening. The house and property are so peaceful and quiet and pretty that we stayed till late the next day, enjoying the backyard and cooking, and hanging out with Doug and Judy a little.
The private house is lovely- the rooms are decorated beautifully, and everything is very comfortable. There are even movies and games available. Perfect! Can't wait to come back.
This was our first Airb&b experience and Judy and Doug set the bar very high for future stays anywhere else! Communication was excellent and the lodging was even better. If a hotel, their place would be rated a 5 star stay for sure. Beautiful private guest house with a beautiful view and grounds! A welcome tray of fruit and cheese was in the refrigerator as well as the makings of a delicious breakfast. And on top of all this Doug and Judy were delightful! Can't wait to return one day!
The guest house and the property overall were spacious and beautiful, but I cannot speak highly enough about Judy as a hostess. She was very responsive and helpful when I was planning my trip to wine country, giving me personal recommendations of wineries to visit and places to eat in the area. She was very flexible and understanding in terms of check-in and check-out, which my party certainly appreciated. Additionally, she surprised us with an amazing plate of cheese and nuts, a delicious cake, and a plethora of other snacks and drinks. To elaborate on the guesthouse, it was very much as advertised (maybe even better than advertised) and housed our party (6 people) very comfortably. I would absolutely stay here again.
