SORRY, NO PETS!

How is the Ojo Cabin handling the COVID outbreak?
JULY 15 UPDATE:
Because of statewide closures as mandated by our governor we are not accepting guests who are not New Mexico residents. Also we are accepting only stays of three days or longer. The Ojo Cabin calendar will show no availability to prevent 'instant booking'. However there may be availability for your dates so please inquire and a special offer will be made to you.
Thanks for your understanding!
Dave

Due to increasing pandemic issues The Ojo Cabin is only accepting reservations of two or more nights. If you bookTHREE or more nights you will receive via PayPal a 15% refund of the amount received from ABNB for your stay.
There is always at least a full day between bookings in the cabin, and since its inception the cleaning routine employed in the cabin after guests leave, has always met the standards set today for COVID-19.
We are in a remote place, with little visitation. Cabin guests ALWAYS have the property to themselves. (Glenna and Dave live on the land too but do not interact personally with guests unless there is a necessity to do so). When you are here, you are on a large tract of land and often spend your time here and never see anyone else. The pavilion is thoroughly cleaned after every visit, and you will always be the only people in this facility.

It is summer in northern New Mexico!
Cool nights and hot days are the norm, but the rainy season is on the way so you can often expect a cool shower in the afternoon.

What a great time to visit!

DO YOU HAVE A GROUP OR A POD?
We now are offering The Ojo Group Camping on AirBNB! Groups get everything you see on this page! Even if there are as few as 5 or 6 in your group or pod it is a BARGAIN!
In this time of COVID-19, there are just not enough opportunities to get together with your intimate group whom you know to be free of the virus. This is your chance to isolate together in a really beautiful place, throw some horseshoes, find a cool pool of water to settle into, or sit back and watch the sunset.

You'll find free wi-fi and a full kitchen in the dining pavilion.
The NEW kitchen provides more counter space and a better set-up is going to make this place even more of a great place to hang out!

Visitors now PARK in the Bosque and approach the cabin via a one minute trail to the Ojo Suspension Bridge!
Your private experience just got even better!
Cooking is not allowed in the cabin but the pavilion is only a minute or two walk away.

The new and beautiful pavilion is enclosed and kept warm for your visit. The space has carpet and laminate flooring, gas range, gas heater and is fully functional with a complete kitchen and hot showers.
Optic fiber is here! We now have complimentary high speed internet available at the pavilion where you can relax in comfort in any weather!

'The Ojo', our name for the land, is a sanctuary for people and wildlife, and has a wild river flowing through it! We love animals, but please, NO PETS! Our trails, from easy to challenging, give you plenty to explore right here, with easy access into the fantastic neighboring wild BLM badlands! Hike our private Shadow Mountain Trail and have the entire Black Mesa top to yourself!

Although you may be staying for only a night, to really appreciate this place we call 'The Ojo', consider spending more time here!

The Ojo Cabin is cozy, think 'tiny house', and located in the heart of ' The Ojo' and within classic Bosque of Northern New Mexico; perfect for short or longer stays. The comfy BeautyRest queen bed has been moved downstairs for greater ease. The loft is now a place to lounge in the sun in the winter, hang out and enjoy the view or use it to stretch or do your morning yoga routine!

For cold weather the cabin has propane heat. In 2020 power was brought to the cabin which creates a much easier experience for guests. The cabin has a bathroom/shower with hot/cold water and a 'Curve' RV type portable flush toilet. If you have any questions about how the cabin functions, special needs, etc. PLEASE ask before booking.
We provide towels, bedding, extra sleeping pad/cot if needed, a light for night time forays, everything needed to make your stay easy! A two minute walk gets you to the PAVILION.
Bring your own food and store it in one of our fridges. Better yet, eat out, Dave knows all the choices in the area!

The cabin is located 45 minutes north of Santa Fe, 25 minutes from Abiquiu, one hour from Taos, and only a 10 minute drive to the Ojo Caliente Spa.

Did you arrive here without sunscreen, lotion, shampoo/conditioner? We have you covered, and each morning of your stay, complimentary coffee/tea is available for you to prepare.

The cabin sits on 116 acres of wild river, mesas, and nearby spectacular desert lands. Many bird species call this area home winter and summer! We are in the Bosque and summer nights are cool and winter nights are cold, but we almost always have pleasant sunny days. The Ojo Caliente river flows through the middle of our property, and directly in front of the cabin. We are wildlife friendly and in residence are beavers, raccoons, a variety of snakes (yes, in the summer occasional rattlers too), many lizards, squirrels, rabbits etc., with elk visiting nightly, yet NO negative interactions with animals has ever been noted.
Trails give easy access to all areas of the property including the challenging hike (1000 vertical feet in just over a mile) up Shadow Mountain (winter ice may close trail). Walking the Cholla Labyrinth in the early morning is an amazing experience!
We are close to many areas of interest in N. New Mexico, including America's latest National Monument. Skiing, climbing, hiking, biking, are all only minutes away, and Dave knows it all! We want to make the cabin your base for exploration!

You will love our pedestrian suspension bridge, and our brand new Ojo Rainbow bridge guaranteed to shift your experience whether you have visited us before or not!

Ask the host for more information!
GPS map information by itself is incorrect and WILL NOT LOCATE our gate! You will be asked to download the free app 'what3words' once you have booked. With the three locator words that will be sent to you, locating the gate day or night is easy!

We are ten miles south of the Spa on US 285.

Sorry, pets are not allowed!

Guest access
Our new all weather parking area in the east Bosque is COMPLETE! All guests will park here and approach the cabin via a lovely trail (one minute walk) through the trees and over our NEW Suspension bridge. Dave is always available to assist as needed with transporting bags to and from the cabin.
Cooking is not allowed in the cabin but it is only two minute walk to the NEW ENCLOSED cooking/dining pavilion.
Available for all guests include, the Cholla Labyrinth, trails, pavilion, two additional showers, a free flowing river, perfect for cooling off in on a hot afternoon. You get the combo to the gate, come and go as you please.

Other things to note
REGULAR GPS DOES NOT WORK IN LOCATING OUR GATE AS THE DATABASE IT USES IS WRONG! USING THE APP 'what3words' WILL BRING YOU TO OUR GATE EASILY DAY OR NIGHT. HOWEVER, IF YOU ARRIVE AT OUR GATE AFTER DARK FOR THE FIRST TIME IT CAN BE DISORIENTING ONCE YOU ARE ON THE LAND, AND IT IS RECOMMENDED YOU ARRIVE IN DAYLIGHT.
COMPLETE AND ACCURATE DIRECTIONS WILL BE SENT ONCE CABIN HAS BEEN BOOKED.
