Rumi or "Stone" in the local quechua language, is a charming room with original stone walls of the Inca era. It is spacious and located on our ground floor with a view to the central interior patio courtyard under our skylight roof.
The room has a comfortable queen bed and en-suite bathroom. An additional single bed can be added if requested when booking for $30.
Rumi is one of our 6 individually unique rooms that we offer in Picafor Tambo, a"bijou" guest house nested beneath the sacred mountain of "Pinkuylluna" with a peaceful aqua lullaby and beautiful balcony views to the Inca ruins above.
The house is located within the living Inca village of Ollantaytambo and offers you a perfect relaxing "sojourn" and break before or after your next adventure to Machu Picchu, the beauty of our Sacred Valley, Cusco or nearby into the delights of the jungle.
Our house offers the discerning guest a tranquil and unique experience of Peru and its rustic mountain countryside in a comfortable and cosy atmosphere. The house also showcases local craftsmanship and wood carving in traditional local style.
All our guests are most welcome to share our cosy salon with its warming fireplace.
We also offer a hearty breakfast of local produce to set you up for your day and of course, a full bar to relax after a full and fun day of exploring.
We look forward to helping you with your booking and making your stay with us special.
Please note there is no smoking inside the house. We are a tranquil Guest House and we expect quiet and respectful guests especially after 10pm.

Hilda and her staff made us feel very welcome. Hilda was available to help us with taxi arrangements and to recommend good restaurants in town, etc. The rooms are comfortable and authentically decorated. The beds and pillows were somewhat hard for our liking. Breakfast was Peruvian buns and coffee with choice of eggs.
Picaflor is located a short walk from the town square and many restaurants and coffee shops located around the square.
All in all we enjoyed our stay and would recommend Picaflor Tambo.
What a little gem! We had the pleasure of staying at Picaflor Tambo for 4 days and had a great experience. In my opinion it looks a lot better in person than in the pictures shown, from the gorgeous door to the lovely balcony, to the eucalyptus scent, the fresh flowers, and stone -so many thoughtful details! Everything has a hummingbird, so cute!
We got there quite late at night and it was dark, when we woke up and saw the view from the BNB we were stunned, the views are quite stunning. We were greeted warmly by Liliana and she took great care of us. The next day we met the owner and she shared some pisco sour with us and other guests, that was a nice touch. I never asked the owner her name so I feel so bad, but she was so nice, warm, and present.
The room was super clean, the bathroom and shower were great, the bed was comfortable and warm.
The only thing I would suggest for light sleepers are earplugs because you can really hear everything -for the first night we had quiet neighbors but at the end of the stay there was a family with children and they were quite loud, it didn't bother us too much but I would suggest ear plugs if noise bothers you.
Overall, this BNB is gorgeous and you can tell someone has put a lot of love into it, I highly recommend it!
Accueil chaleureux. Petit déjeuner au top. Très propre. Couvertures chaudes. Eau chaude.
My friend and I stayed here on our way to Machu Pichu and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Ollantayambo or the Sacred Valley area. Our host was very welcoming and helpful with recommendations and arranging transportation. Breakfast was included, no frills but cute place, clean and great value. Only drawback is that wifi is slow, but that seemed to be the case at most places I've encountered in Peru
Very charming place and impeccable service. Just across the street from the entrance to the amazing climb of Pinkuylluna that gives you the best (and free !) view of Ollantaytambo an it's main ruins. Only downside: the walls seem to be made of paper as we could hear our neighbors whispering...
We stayed in the Rumi room, on the ground floor and next to the street/pathway outside.
Checkin was a little disconcerting. We were met by a relatively unfriendly young man (not the lovely hostess who appeared later) who led us into a unwindowed, harshly lit room to fill in forms. It felt a bit like an interrogation room.
Overall this was a nice stay in a lovely town. A few things to be aware of:
- If you are big on privacy, this may not be for you. All the room doors open into the same hallway, so sounds travel easily. The room doors are paned with glass and have curtains that only just cover them.
- Our bathroom was amazingly modern, but smelled very strongly of mildew as soon as the shower had been run.
Breakfast was great, custom-made at the time of our choosing.
The burbling water channel outside was indeed nice. The location is right next to the Pinkuylluna trail leading up to the granaries - a phenomenal hike.
I would stay here again but would try to get a room upstairs.
The Rumi room at Picaflor was the perfect place to stay following my visit to Machu Picchu and the breakfast in the morning was exactly what I needed. It was a very beautiful house in a very beautiful, lively, and safe little town. I would definitely recommend staying here even if you don't have plans to go to Machu Picchu.
