Rumi (Quechua/stone),Ollantaytambo

Bed & Breakfast - Private room · Lares Calle, Ollantaytambo, Cuzco Region, Peru

The Space

Rumi or "Stone" in the local quechua language, is a charming room with original stone walls of the Inca era. It is spacious and located on our ground floor with a view to the central interior patio courtyard under our skylight roof.

The room has a comfortable queen bed and en-suite bathroom. An additional single bed can be added if requested when booking for $30.

Rumi is one of our 6 individually unique rooms that we offer in Picafor Tambo, a"bijou" guest house nested beneath the sacred mountain of "Pinkuylluna" with a peaceful aqua lullaby and beautiful balcony views to the Inca ruins above.

The house is located within the living Inca village of Ollantaytambo and offers you a perfect relaxing "sojourn" and break before or after your next adventure to Machu Picchu, the beauty of our Sacred Valley, Cusco or nearby into the delights of the jungle.

Our house offers the discerning guest a tranquil and unique experience of Peru and its rustic mountain countryside in a comfortable and cosy atmosphere. The house also showcases local craftsmanship and wood carving in traditional local style.

All our guests are most welcome to share our cosy salon with its warming fireplace.

We also offer a hearty breakfast of local produce to set you up for your day and of course, a full bar to relax after a full and fun day of exploring.

We look forward to helping you with your booking and making your stay with us special.

  • I wish I stayed longer!
Antonio was a great host. Before my arrival, he helped reserve a private taxi from Cusco to Ollantaytambo. I was taken to a few sights on the way as well.
Upon my arrival, he saw that I was not feeling well and rushed to make me some tea. I was traveling alone and felt so well cared for while at Picaflor. Ollantaytambo is a cute town with such character. I only stayed one night but plan to stay longer next time. The room was clean and the bed was so comfortable. After a difficult day of travel, this was exactly what I needed. The wi-fi was not easy to access but Antonio just graciously handed over his laptop so that I could use it. He helped me with accesing the train station and schedules to Machu Picchu. The next morning, I had a beautiful breakfast ready for me. It truly nurtured me for another busy day of travel. Antonio had been worried that I was disturbed with noise throughout the evening- I guess there was activity on the street on Saturday night. It was very sweet of him to worry- I slept great with no problems! I had a great stay in the Rumi room @ Picaflor.

  • From the moment you walk down the ancient Inca street you feel as though you've been transported to another time. Unique boutique inn, with lovely decorated rooms. Impeccably clean, with down comforter and good pillows. Best of all was the attentive service by the low key staff. Incredibily sweet, kind, and helpful. Safe, secure area. I would return (which we did after 2 days in MachuPicchu) and I highly recommend this inn!

  • Picaflortambo is the perfect place to stay in Ollantaytambo. The rooms are spacious, clean and the beds are super comfortable. The hot water for showers is always available which we were thankful for after some of our hikes! The hosts were wonderful, going our of their way to make sure we had everything we needed, from hot water for tea in our room each day to the lovely fresh breakfasts. One of the highlights was definitely the pisco sours and popcorn each evening for guests in the bar area with a warming fire in the background. We would definitely recommend staying at Picaflortambo!

  • Picaflor is an excellent hotel/homestay hybrid in Ollantaytambo. The rooms are very clean, with separate bathrooms and are quite nice to look at. The employees are very friendly, breakfast is ample and the hosts are quite happy to fulfill your needs. Everyone can get by with English. The only issue might be the noise from the city, if a party is going on, comes through sometimes, though it never went on past 11 pm. Definitely recommended.

  • We LOVED staying at Picaflor!! All the staff are wonderful and so friendly. The room was beautiful and we spent nine lovely nights in Rumi. The whole hotel is very clean and they provide a delicious breakfast every morning. We were also invited to several nights where the hosts made drinks and local corn snacks for us to try. We really had a great time and recommend them highly :)
