Highly recommended. House was clean and incredibly well stocked. Found everything but a pancake griddle. Our 2 year old found the toys in the b playroom just right for her age. Our 7 year old lovred the pond amd the swing. Parenta loved the fire pit and outdoor tabke and chairs and the wide open space for kids to run. Would have liked a second bathroom but if you get the outdoor ahower working that will help.
Pics didnt show the great fire pit. Plus we thought we might be close to the main road but it was 2miles in. Really quiet.
We will be back. Relaxation was easy. Thanks.
It is a lovely house in a beautiful setting. It was perfect for our needs. The owners were very nice and even mailed us a shirt we forgot.
This is such a wonderful place to stay. I have stayed in other vacation rental properties where it feels like the bare necessities are there for you, but nothing else. This is not the case at Rockwood. Every detail is thought through. Throw blankets on the chairs, toys for kids, books, even a jar for fireflies. The beds are very comfortable and cozy. Ann went out of her way to make every detail special and thoughtful. The pond behind the house is picture perfect. The fire pit is awesome. We had such a lovely time. It felt like house away from home. Thanks for everything Ann!!
Our experience at Rockwood Farm couldn't have been better. Ann was a wonderfully accommodating host, and the house is beautiful. My family (three) stayed with another family of four, and there was plenty of room for all of us. The kids adored the children's corner in one of the upstairs bedroom, and it was so nice to have a cozy living room for the adults to chat in after the children were asleep. The property is stunning, and I wished we had so much more time to explore everything!
Ann was incredibly helpful, especially when I inadvertently found myself and my toddler daughter locked outside when our friends had taken the house key with them into town for several hours. She immediately helped me get a spare key. The house itself had everything we needed for our trip -- including emergency toiletries, a bottle of wine, fresh eggs, and homemade cookies!
Thank you, Ann!!
We had a wonderful time at Rockwood, Ann was a wonderful hostess! From the moment we entered the door and were greeted w/ homemade cookies, fresh eggs and a bottle of Virginia wine, to all the little touches throughout the house - I couldn't have asked for anything more. Our group was comprised of a total of 6 women for a weekend of visiting wineries and antiquing, we each had our own bed (using the pull out sofa for one) and more then enough room in the house. The kitchen was fully equipped, linens and everything we needed were provided - I've never packed so light for a vacation :) Everyone also reviewed that their bed was very comfy and we all slept great. The location was amazing too, nestled into our own little corner of the country but still close to wineries, Charlottesville, grocery stores, etc. I would be happy to go to this house again and do nothing but sit there all weekend, the rocking chairs on the porch are so relaxing. There is also a dock and benches out over the pond, an outdoor table and chairs, a swing hanging from one of the tall old trees, and the fire pit which we all enjoyed gathering around. Everyone is already looking forward to returning and cannot wait until next time.
Our stay at Rockwood Farm was absolutely amazing. Ann truly thought of everything from hotdog roasting sticks, fishing poles and rafts for the pond, to the children's corner and family games. In addition we were welcomed with fresh eggs, tomatoes, wine, and a lovely welcome card. We made lasting family memories at Rockwood Farm and the only regret we have is that we should have planned our stay to be longer, which is exactly what will do next year when we return to Rockwood.
We loved our stay! Everything was so comfortable, and the landscape was truly beautiful. We had a great time eating outside and roasting s'mores. The kids had a terrific time romping around outside, and swinging on the tire swing. We will certainly be back!
We were looking for a quick escape from DC for the long Memorial Day weekend and we found it at Rockwood Farm. Ann was a very welcoming host and gave us plenty of tips on how to make the most of our stay. The kids loved the fresh baked cookies and we were happy with the farm fresh eggs and wine. We spent 2 relaxing days with a visit to Monticello, s'mores at the fire pit, lounging on the grass reading, fishing in the pond (both kids caught 2 fish each), watching a family friendly movie, and hours on the tire swing. It is a lovely home which is well stocked. We share a bathroom at home so only one bath was not a problem. Beds were so comfortable we slept for 11 hours one night. Easy drive to Montpelier and to Monticello if you want to soak up some colonial history and also easy access to Skyline Drive for hiking and beautiful vistas. We will definitely be back.
Perfect for family vacations. Ann and Bill are very friendly people and welcomed us with home baked cookies, wine, and eggs from their farm.
The house is very comfortably decorated. We do wish that there were another bath in the unit. But there were so many positives that we could easily overlook that fact. The cottage has many facilities including a reading room, croquet set, a pond and fishing equipment, swings, outdoor fireplace etc.
Thanks Ann. We will definitely come back to this property!
