Interaction with Guests
We try to at least be around for the initial orientation and a chat, but there are times that we haven't even met our guests. There are also times that we've all gone out for breakfast or enjoyed a meal together. It really depends on our busy schedule. We're happy to help you plan your visit, but we won't be in your hair too much!
It's a cute, quiet neighborhood about a 30-minute walk (7-minute drive!) from downtown. We're also only 2 blocks from the gorgeous Rideau River, and its surrounding park and pathways.
Driving, busing and/or walking downtown are all super easy from our place. Two bus routes each stop within a block of our house.
The only thing we ask is that you don't smoke indoors. We have a lovely back deck if you want to indulge outside! We also ask that you keep the noise down after 11pm on weekdays.
Molly and Nil are very friendly and helped us in everything we needed. The room is big and confortable. The only thing that is a bit humit because is situated in the basement (but it has a window). If you have a car it's a perfect place because you can park in front of the house for free.
Cecilia and I were in town for a conference at the University of Ottawa, and we stayed at Molly and Neal's new property for about a week. Both of them were fantastic hosts and they made sure we were comfortable. Since their place was recently acquired, there remain some renovation work to be done, but we experienced minimal disturbance. Our basement room was spacious and clean, and the furnishing was more than sufficient even though Molly and Neal are still working on it (we actually slept better here compared to a recent stay at a 4-star hotel in Boston).
Molly and Neal's place is conveniently located, and it did not take us more than a 15 to 20 minute bus ride to the heart of Ottawa or the University (otherwise, it is a pleasant 40 minute walk - which we preferred to do on several occasions). There is a supermarket just 5 minutes walk away for those considering self-catering.
We look forward to be back!
I had a great time in Ottawa and the room was very nice! Thank you for being such great hosts.
We had a good stay at Molly and Neal's house this past weekend. Neither Molly nor Neal were home when we arrived and there was some issue with the lock box on the front door so Molly let us know the house would be unlocked when we arrived and the key would be in the room. Everything was as stated and the bed was very comfy. We were initially a bit worried about not having a window in the bedroom but there was one in the next room and there was a cut out in the wall so some natural light came in. The basement room and 2 bathrooms (a water closet and a shower room) we clean. We had great sleeps! We met Neal on Sunday night and had a nice chat with him. Very pleasant and interesting man. I would recommend this AirBnB to anyone visiting the Ottawa region!

About the Host, Molly
Neal and I are an active couple in our 30s. I'm a high school teacher and Neal works in various fields, as well as doing instruction for several of the outdoor education programs at Algonquin College.
I absolutely love to travel! I've been all across Canada, and a large portion of the world (spending my last two spring breaks in Yellowknife and Dubai - slightly different climates!). I lived in Australia for a year in my mid-20s, and I wish Airbnb had existed then! In spite of all the wonderful places I've lived, I keep coming back to Ottawa. Neal and I both love this city, and would be happy to help you plan your visit!
