The property was stunning! The rooms were nice and exactly how I thought staying in an Italian farmhouse would be. The views from the rooms were beautiful. It was really nice to go on walks around the property and take in the beautiful Tuscan countryside. The vineyards were lovely and you get a bottle of wine made from the grapes grown here. You can see San gimignano from the property however you can't walk there easily. The road to the town is narrow with quite a few speeding cars. You must rent a car. We attempted to rent a car and had issues and were unable to do so. We let her know as soon as that happened we weren' t going to have a car. After a full day of traveling by train and bus to San gimignano she finally offered to pick us up after we sat on a bench looking for a taxi for 45 minutes communicating via email the whole time. Luckily there are several rooms for rent at poggio muleti and you can meet friends as we did with some Swiss sisters staying below us. They were ever so gracious to act as our hosts and told us where to go, what to do and even gave us rides. They were amazing!
Depending on the time of year you go there may not be people at the house to help you.
The phone number on the listing is definitely not her phone number and we had a very difficult time getting ahold of her. We both tried calling her since we had paid to have our phones working in Italy and neither phone calls nor text messages would work with the number that she listed. We even asked an Italian man to try on his phone and it was an invalid number.
During our correspondence prior to our stay I asked about having bikes a few times. I was assured that there would be bikes there and this was part of the reason I decided to stay here. When we arrived my husband asked where the bikes were and was told that they were not ready. So we never saw a bike the whole time we were there.
The heating was 12 euros a day! We were told that there was a lot of firewood we could use. We went and gathered it up and tried for two hours to get one lit but because the wood is stored outside it had been soaking in the rain for weeks so we were unable to ever have a fire.
Overall beautiful property, beautiful area, neat place to stay, but if you plan to stay here plan to be self sufficient.
Hi Jamie, so sorry you've found difficulties in stay at us. In fact winter is not the best period of the year to stay in a countryhouse in Tuscany. Heating is very expensive here, but sometimes it could not be needed. Concerning my telephone number it is the right one and 95% of our guests had no problem in contacting me with text messages or calls. We've 5 good quality bikes, but in this season there're stored to safe them from rust. Have you asked Giancarlo for them? I thank you to have been here. you're net and polite. I wish you a merry Xmas
Valentina drove an hour just to greet us! She welcomed us, asked us if we had an idea of what we wanted to do in Tuscany, and drew out a map with key locations and suggested places to visit. Super helpful and welcoming!
The location was great with a beautiful view of the idyllic rolling hills and Sam Gimignano rising in the distance. The vineyards were great to just take a stroll through, and the complimentary bottle of wine was a surprising bonus!
All in all a beautiful, quiet get away location with a great view!
Our stay at Poggio Muleti was fine. The room was small but had a comfortable bed and bathroom which is all you need. The kitchen which we had access to was useful. It definatley isn't luxury accomodation but the property and pool and the views are absolutely beautiful and the resident cat was sooo cute!
Very central flat with a great view over Firenze's houses. The kitchen provided us with all equipment necessary for a cooking session and the terrace faces the Duomo so closely that you get the impression you could touch it if you stretch your arm. We definitely recommend to stay in the flat. Just be aware of the €50 cleaning fee as described in Valentina's add.o
