A great get-away for peace and quiet, whether you are a writer/artist or individual/couple who just needs that special time and peaceful space away from the hustle bustle of everyday life. My home is just four miles east of the vibrant center of Amherst, this simple but comfortable 3-room unit has its own private entrance on landscaped grounds with flower gardens and acres of wood across the road in beautiful conservation land.

Interaction with Guests
I want guests to enjoy their privacy, because that is very important to most people; the efficiency unit is a get-away from your work, a vacation spot, so with a brief warm welcome, and/or any questions or concerns you may have, just walk right in a make yourselves comfortable. I am a quiet person and have to get up early for my teaching job, thank your for your understanding.
The neighborhood is rural; homes far enough apart for privacy; its a great location (only 4 miles easy drive to downtown Amherst) whether you are here on business or just exploring the area.
You need a car for transportation!

Thank you. I am confident you will have peace and quiet and will enjoy your stay. Warmly, Holland
I booked this unit for my parents while we were all up in Amherst for a family visit- and they were so happy with the unit! Location was great, private and comfy. The grounds are beautiful. Holland was a great host and responded quickly and appropriately to my emails before the stay.
Thank you so much and my parents and I highly recommend staying here if you are anywhere in the area!!!
Holland's home is lovely and she is a gracious host. Great location to relax and get in touch with nature, but also close enough to Amherst and Northampton -- best of both worlds. I only wish I could have stayed for longer!
Serene and Comfy! We had a wonderful stay at Holland's log cabin. We felt it was the perfect amount of seclusion for us... It was just far enough away from everything to enjoy the peace and quiet, but close enough to be a convenient 10 minute drive from restaurants and shopping. The space was clean, comfy, and lovingly cared for. We had a lot of nice moments sitting by the pond, walking around the grounds and the conservation lands nearby. Holland was friendly and attentive, we had a wonderful stay!
The cabin was everything we wanted in our two days in MA. The setting was just what we were looking for out in the woods and the location was perfect for our travel plans with our relatives in the area. Holland was a perfect host and we plan on staying there again when we visit our family.
Our one night stay at Holland's home was great. The backyard and grounds are beautiful, relaxing and peaceful. The bed was very comfortable. The place is wonderful for a couple wanting a retreat. We also enjoyed the hiking trails right across the road and the close proximity to Amherst too!
Thanks Holland for the great stay, we would love to come back soon and stay longer.
Svenja & Stefan
Hi Svenja and Stefan; do you think you could translate this into English, so future guests will read your kind and thoughtful words. I went to "translate" in my (website hidden) docs page and got the english meaning, so thanks for your excellent review, but it would be good if it is in english so others who may want to come and stay will understand your words, many thanks and have a continual fun and safe journey, holland
I loved this house! It was even better than I expected. It is a beautiful little place to stay, a perfect balance of rustic/artsy and modern/elegant. Absolutely clean, quiet, comfortable, lovingly cared for, with thoughtful details everywhere (including outside in the yard, where whimsical little works of art and other treasures are tucked away in surprising places). The huge sunroom is an especially wonderful place to sit and relax.
Holland was a lovely host, available and communicative but also very respectful of my privacy and space. Just a few examples of her thoughtfulness (above and beyond the basket of toiletries in the bathroom and the cold bottles of water in the fridge): One morning she knocked on "my" door bearing a little bowl filled with fresh raspberries she had just picked in the yard. And when there was a big thunderstorm one night and she was going to be going out, and I wasn't home at the time, she left a note on the door to let me know that we might lose power and where to find a flashlight.
The location has an out-of-the-way feeling, tucked into the woods, but it's just a 5- to 10-minute drive to all of the amenities of Amherst's quaint town center and the many supermarkets and chain stores along Route 9. I also spent many peaceful and productive hours working in the Pelham public library, just a few minutes down the road.
If you stay at Holland's home, bring bug repellent so you can enjoy the expansive and creatively landscaped and decorated grounds (also a good idea in general for being outdoors in that area since it's very buggy). Also, don't miss swinging on the big swing out in the field.
All in all, really a wonderful place for a quiet getaway.
I am a wildlife artist/sculptor and enjoy working on my art projects in between my full time job as a high school teacher. I enjoy nature and outdoor activities and environmental issues are important to me. I have been living in this beautiful land of western Massachusetts for more than twenty years. The natural environment here is peaceful, the surrounding towns are full of exciting things to do and education is the hub.
