Interaction with Guests
3 other rooms in the apartment are rented on this site. You may have interactions with other guests in the common areas. I work very long days so you may only see me on occasion. My roommate Dave is home more often, he serves as a host when I am not available. You can view my other rooms under the "Other Listings" section.
The neighborhood is a Puerto Rican immigrant community. Mixed with old gritty industrial areas and new luxury buildings. All kinds of creative types have been filing into Bushwick and a considerable amount of trendiness is trickling in from its ultra-hip neighbor to the west, Williamsburg. New dive bars, bodegas, and gallery spaces continue to flourish, fueled by the intrepid movers and shakers that are pouring into Bushwick’s converted loft spaces. Although Bushwick is busy reinventing itself, a somewhat grungy heart still beats beneath its remodeled exterior. The Neighborhood Is Very Safe. I have been here for 10 years without any issues. My guests have never had any issues as well. There are many people around on the streets at all hours. We are right next to the train for those who are out late in the evening as well.
We are 1 block away from the Dekalb stop L train, 15 minutes to the city and a few blocks away from the JMZ train. USE HOPSTOP FOR SUBWAY DIRECTIONS! It is also available as an app. This will tell you much more clear detailed instructions on getting here from the airport and getting around the city in general. The house is approximately: 20 minutes away from LaGuardia Airport 25 minutes away from JFK Airport 35-45 minutes away from Newark Airport (these are average times with minimal traffic)

Was all good, the info was all there & at the right time, the place was comfortable. I didn't see anyone there while I was there, but that was fine! Thanks for the stay!
Mark was very helpful and welcoming. He emailed me each day just to check in and to make sure there were no issues. His home was very clean/comfortable and was in a great location.I felt safe even walking back at 1 am. Very close to the subway, and there is an amazing coffee shop if you turn left out his home, it's at the corner. I really appreciated him providing towels, and he also had complimentary tea and coffee. I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay!
My Father's stay at Mark's place was a pleasure, he got what he was promised and enjoyed a comfortable, clean and pleasant environment. This is definitely a place we would use again in the future.
The apt was really nice had my own (email hidden)d was comfy..5 min walk to the L train
Situated in a pretty prime Bushwick area close to the nightlife with a fun Hispanic twist. The place was as described, sadly didn't get a chance to meet the host but other guests were very friendly and knew the area a bit. Good stay!
The house was very clean and everything is in great shape. Mark was extremely responsive and helpful. They've got a great cleaner who visits frequently, which made things nice and fresh upstairs. That being said, this is the basement apartment, so know what to expect in terms of limited natural light and limited fresh air. The other rooms upstairs in the house might be a better bet - they also seemed to be occupied by guests - especially on the fresh air side of things. There's a single screen window exposed to a brick ventilation shaft near the entrance of the room, but the air coming in there wasn't great. Maybe that will be improved though as a result of my feedback. That being said, for the price, it's probably good value considering it's 20 minutes from Manhattan on the train at any hour.
Mark's apartment is large and clean. Location is great and he was quite helpful and direct about logistics. I recommend it.

About the Host, Mark
I am an artist originally from Rhode Island. I have been living in Bushwick for over 10 years. My roommate/friend Dave is a musician and here to help when I am not available. As a host I like make myself available if needed but otherwise try to give all guests their privacy.
