Description

The space

The house is an 1896 Victorian that has been remodeled in a clean, modern aesthetic combined with a collection of art by local artists. This home is quintessential Boise. I have one Queen bed upstairs and can add one Queen air mattress in the living room downstairs if need be.

Guest access

Perfect location for exploring Boise and Idaho.
5 minutes to downtown Boise, Camels Back Park, Hyde Park and the Boise Co-Op. Treasure Valley YMCA and Java coffee shop for workouts and mornings.

Interaction with guests

I'm always a text away. Feel free and let me know if you'd like to try some local flavor - food, sites, music, non-profits.

The neighborhood

The North End of Boise is remarkable for its 100+ year history combined with its proximity to downtown and untouched nature. Countless miles of trails in Camels Back for hiking and biking only a few blocks away. White water rafting down the Payette is a 45 minute drive and floating the Boise River requires nothing more than jumping in. Let me know if you'd like passes to The Springs in Idaho City...

Getting around

Boise is one of the most bikeable cities in the US. Hop on a bike at the Boise Bicycle Project, sign up for the Boise bike share or grab the bus, which stops on my block, to get downtown. You can also walk - just a few blocks to restaurants and less than a mile to downtown.

Other things to note

Unfortunately, due to severe allergies, we just aren't able to allow pets in the house. So sorry!

The house is pretty minimalist with a warm, calm feel to it. Pay a little extra attention to the furniture and I will be so grateful! Please let me know if anything gets dinged or damaged.

The concrete counters in the kitchen are extremely porous. Try and avoid letting anything acidic (wine, tomatoes, juice, coffee, tea) sit on the counter, and be sure and wipe up liquids sooner rather than later. Coasters abound.

One room upstairs is private, but the bedroom and upstairs half bath are all yours.

John Michael's place is in the perfect location -- easy access to Hyde Park and Camel's Back also a quick walk/ride downtown. I booked his place for my parents who were visiting me and his home had everything we needed for their stay!! The big TV was nice to watch late night shows with my mom and with the kitchen in proximity to the dining area, made for great meals and games in the evening! The house is warm and cozy, while still feeling modern and spacious. Mother Nature cooperated and brought snow on their final day here! I'll certainly bring my family back to John Michael's place.

John Michael was very welcoming and made our stay very comfortable. The neighborhood is FANTASTIC! There's restaurants, shops, coffee shops within walking distance and it felt very safe and "neighborly".

This home is a true gem with so much character in a fantastic location. The minute my hubby and I drove up we knew we had picked the right place. From the thoughtful decor to the fun and funky downstairs bath to the lazy hammock outside, everything is designed for the best experience possible. I often stay in Airbnb properties, but this was the first one that is also the host's primary residence, and it shows. There is a lot of love put into this place. John Michael is also great. He is thoughtful, communicative and ready with great ideas for fun in Boise and beyond. Definitely ask him for his personal recommendations. Can't wait to come back to Boise and stay here again!

This was a great home in Boise's historic north end neighborhood. Very clean, newly remodeled, artistic decor, and everything in great working order. The home was very quiet and comfortable. Top notch lodging.

Love this place. So relaxing. Great neighborhood, too. My second time staying there when coming to Boise for business. Hopefully more to come.

John Michael went out of his way to make sure my trip was a great experience... I had such a fabulous time and can't wait to return!

I can't urge you enough to book this space. Every detail has been so thoughtfully curated and the overall effect is one of simultaneous inspiration by its intriguing decor as well as the serenity of a well balanced and comfortable home. In this home you are surrounded by art; from the iconic modern furnishings, original paintings that adorn the walls as well as unique light fixtures...all amount to a home you don't' want to leave. But you should, because not only is the surrounding neighborhood lovely, the parks and foothills nearby are a must to explore and the city of Boise is one I never tire of wandering. There are new restaurants and shops overtime I visit, and the people that live here are engaging and kind. I had the most restful and wonderful week, I can't wait to come back and will definitely book this house again, worth every penny!
