Interaction with Guests

I'm always a text away. Feel free and let me know if you'd like to try some local flavor - food, sites, music, non-profits.

The Neighborhood

The North End of Boise is remarkable for its 100+ year history combined with its proximity to downtown and untouched nature. Countless miles of trails in Camelsback for hiking and biking only a few blocks away. White water rafting down the Payette is a 45 minute drive and floating the Boise River requires nothing more than jumping in. Let me know if you'd like passes to The Springs in Idaho City...

Boise is my home, but I travel frequently. I love welcoming guests to this fantastic city.

Getting around

Boise is one of the most bikeable cities in the US. Hop on a bike at the Boise Bicycle Project or grab the bus, which stops on my block, to get downtown. You can also walk - just a few blocks to restaurants and less than a mile to downtown.

  • We had a wonderful time retreating back to this clean and comfortable house close to everything after exploring Boise and the Idaho countryside. Communicating with John Michael was easy; he suggested places to go and music to see. The neighborhood is inviting, just a few minutes walk to a few restaurant/bar choices. If you don't mind an upstairs bedroom (downstairs bath), this place is worth checking out. When we find ourselves back in Boise, we'll be staying here again!

  • This little home is a gem in the Boise North District. The minimalistic decor and warm colors mixed with authentic furniture will make you feel at home. John Michael was a great host and made sure we were well taken care of.
If you ever find yourself in Boise, I would recommend staying here if its available.

  • This is a very cute house in a great location. The host was helpful and responsive. When we asked for a rolling pin and there wasn't one in the house, he even sent the next door neighbor over to lend us one. The bedroom isn't pictured on airbnb. It's private with a nice queen bed. The bath tub is great, backyard is cute, interesting art throughout, big fur rug on the floor, interesting books to peruse, kitchen items that a cook will appreciate including quality knives and many pans. Two thumbs up for John and his cool home!

  • We enjoyed an extended stay - about a month - in John Michael's home while we were getting prepared to move into our new (website hidden)'s home was our temporary sanctuary during a time of transition and chaos. And we are so grateful to have had the pleasure of staying (website hidden) was exceedingly accommodating to us. The house is cozy and welcoming with cool style and warm comforts. It's located in a great neighborhood within an easy walk/bike ride to Hyde Park and downtown. We highly recommend this home for your next stay in Boise - so much better than a hotel. It's like staying at the home of a very dear friend.

  • Lovely place. Private and quiet while being easy to reach and close to everything. Charming touches and the updated lighting is elegant and functional.

  • John Michael's space was lovely—an homage to his designerly taste! Very centrally located in a great neighborhood with shops and bars/restaurants. The space was ideal for a working/relaxing weekend. The secret garden in the back is such a nice reprieve!

Though the host was not the one to show us the space, he ensured that there was always a point of contact for us just in case we needed anything.

The upstairs bedroom did get a little warm, but there (email hidden) unit to help cool it down; I'm sensitive to white noise when I sleep, so we just cooled it down ahead of time and shut it off when we were ready for bed. Getting up and down the stairs could be challenging for someone who is less spry; definitely turn on the lights and tread carefully!

  • We loved this space. It was great to be in the North End - just a couple blocks from Hyde Park. The house is so stylish and comfortable and the host was very responsive, although we didn't get a chance to meet. The only thing I would mention to prospective guests is that the stairs to the bedroom could be a bit dicey if you weren't used to climbing stairs in the middle of the night. We will likely be back if John Michael will have us.

  • The North End Victorian is fab, fab, fab. So clean, comfortable, and cute. Oh, it is so conveniently located too. Though I have been to Boise on many trips I have never spent time in the Hyde Park neighborhood, it's really great. Also the home is located 3 blocks from Camel's Back trails. This is the perfect base camp for someone visiting Boise for work but wants to hit the trails too!

  • John Michael's place was wonderful, thoughtful and cool decor, comfortable bed and living space, a secret garden backyard that was so lovely. I'd highly recommend this adorable house if you stay in Boise, it is in a cool neighborhood and super close to downtown. John Michael was responsive, kind and easy to reach - great host!

  • Had never been to Boise before and didn't know what to expect. John's place was spacious, tasteful, and located walking distance to a great Boise food coop and very close to downtown. I even slept in the hammock in the backyard one night. Overall, a great place to stay when in town especially if, like me, you prefer not to stay in hotels.
