We ended up in this apartment VERY last minute when our original booking was cancelled. We were happy here. Only a few comments...
It's a sparse apartment with plenty of room and a large kitchen. Location = great. Linens = not stellar. Fortunately, the apartment was clean if bare. Unfortunately, other reviewers are correct that there wasn't enough toilet paper or towels for 4 people for the duration of our stay nor bath soap.
It's an excellent stay on budget, but it's definitely no frills. Malee was responsive to our calls and made scheduling accommodations for our arrival and departure. Oh, our apartment didn't match the pictures, but I think it's just from one of the other flats in the building.
Would I recommend? Sure -- I'd just explain that it's a very simple accommodation in a great location. :)
I had a few new colleagues in town stay here. They were not too impressed and the wifi was did not work the entire time.
Very nice apartment! Good location between Chinatown and Financial District.
The place is so nice and it has a great location. Malee was so nice and helpful. Will definitely stay here again.
This spot is close to North Beach, which was perfect for myself and travelling companion. The place was clean and adequately furnished. The kitchen was very impressive -- I wish I had been staying longer because for a small apartment this has one of the nicest kitchens I've seen.
Malee was flexible on key pickup -- we got in fairly late (around midnight).
The only thing I would recommend is bringing one's own towel -- the towels furnished were small and a little threadbare -- other than this, a good experience.
The only positive features of this place are the location, and possibly the price. Beds and linen were average at best. Curtains were all ripped and practically see through. The road noise was pretty bad. If you're struggling to find the place, its the horrendous pink colour amongst some really nice houses.
All of this probably would have been over-looked if the check in and check out process wasn't so heinous. No instructions were given for checkin, yet the host was distraught that we hadn't called 1 hour before and had already left before we arrived. She was subsequently rude and uninviting. Checkout was a non-negotiable 10/10:30am, but came knocking at 10am, annoyed that we hadn't left yet.
I do not recommend staying here unless it is the last place available or you're on an extreme budget.
first, we were quite pleased to find a place in north beach, especially on short notice. the place was fine - standard small san francisco apartments, but minimalist was an understatement. there was no soap, just three towels, and it was unclean (a dust bunny escaping from under the vanity, a dirty bath mat, and...another thing i'd prefer not to mention).
the listing shares that it's a two-bedroom place and accommodates four. when we booked the place, we knew that it would be the two of us and i stated that i would try to find friends to stay in the other bedroom, if they were available. upon arrival, malee pleasantly informed us that no visitors could be in the apartment after 9.00 pm, due to previous issues with previous short-term tenants. but she also stated that we're the only ones who could stay.
here's my issue with that: the listing says four people can stay, i informed her that we would try to fill that in my request, then she tells me the moment of our arrival that they can't.
when i met them at the door downstairs and told them the situation and that we would skirt it by being quiet. she overheard the conversation from the below unit and was rightfully angry and told us that they could not stay. the whole situation could have been avoided had she been more communicative at the very beginning, stalling the booking, and telling us her preferences to stay.
my word of advice when working with her in the future would be to always book for four - it's no extra cost - then it's just a bonus if you show up with two. the place is truly minimalist, though, and the other comments that i made are a fair assessment of the apartment. i would not stay here again.
Pretty much what I expected. Clean, no frills apartment, typical San Francisco.
Malee’s place is more than surprising as it does not really correspond to pictures you can see on airbnb! Even if the apartment is quiet the same (2 bedrooms), it’s much older than on the pictures and there is no equipment or decoration. No picture on walls, no bedside table, no lamp, really old linen (tried or torn)…
There is nothing cozy in the apartment that help us feeling comfortable and in your own place.
This is definitely a cash cow apartment.
In the kitchen you just have 4 plates, 4 glasses, 4 cutleries, no microwave or any other equipment instead of a small coffee machine. Nothing to cook!
But there is a really large table, avoiding you to use the entire space.
Bathroom, we finally understood why there was no picture! Old and really close (not recommended to people with overweight). We decided to wash the towels before using them!
The place was not really clean (dust under beds) and there was nothing to clean, no broom or vacuum.
But on a more positive note, the apartment is very well located.
Let me start off by saying the good stuff about this place because I am not typically one to leave bad reviews This apartment was located in the perfect location, walking distance to bars restaurants and everything you want to see in San Francisco. It was very easy to walk back after a fantastic night out in the heart of the city.
However, I will never be stating here again. (Let me keep this brief) We had a very terrible experience wit the apartment and host in general. It first went wrong when she told us to meet her at the apartment at one and wouldn't let us in till two, making us late to our wine tasting adventure we had reserved. The apartment was not clean NOT CLEAN there were dirty towels on the floor (which judging by numerous forms of evidence led us to believe that these were the towels we were expected to use) then there was ONE , I repeat ONE roll of toilet paper for three girls and FOUR DAYS . We also found a diaper under the couch in the living room which I'm sure is still there. Now here's where it gets good and really made me want to write a review. She came bal to the apartment about three times to scold us. SCOLD US Once about leaving a light on and the second she comes pounding at the door at 9am yelling at us about not Hain parties. 1. There was never a rule about not having parties an 2. We didn't have a party it was the boys in the apartment above us!! And last but not least to make sure
We were out by 10:45 on our check out day "to make sure the cleaners have time " where were these cleaners when we needed them ? And last but not least if you are a light sleeper DO NOT STAY HERE !!! The foot steps upstairs are extreme you can basically here your upstairs neighbor breathe.
