Adorable Esplanade Abode

Apartment - Entire home/apt · Esplanade Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70116, United States

The Space

This one bedroom, one bathroom slave quarter apartment is located two blocks from the French Quarter on beautiful, historic (and safe) Esplanade Avenue. The apartment was completely renovated in 2013 and has brand new appliances, hard wood floors, and an amazing courtyard.
The private bedroom has a brand new, super comfy, pillow top queen size bed and a 32" television with Apple TV for streaming shows and movies on Netflix, HuluPlus & HBOGo, or use your personal itunes account to rent.
There is plenty of local artwork throughout the house, and toiletries, linens, towels, snacks and coffee are provided. There is also a blow dryer, and if there's anything else you may need, just ask! I'm happy to help :)
The kitchen is fully furnished with pots & pans, spices, utensils, etc. if you want to save some money by cooking or just want to have breakfast in the courtyard.
Being located in the rear of the house, the apartment is perfectly quiet for a good night's rest, but the French Quarter is only two blocks away, a five minute walk, so its easy to be in the thick of it all, when you choose. The neighborhood is absolutely beautiful, perfect for an evening stroll, and there is also a bus stop right in front of the house, so public transit is a breeze.

There is a washer/dryer and wifi.

  • Shaunda was a wonderful host for our first trip to New Orleans! She responded incredibly quickly to every inquiry message we sent from the beginning and throughout the whole trip. The house itself was perfect for what we needed. It was easy to find, very easy to find parking at any time of day (even later at night), and spacious with great tall ceilings. The house was clean and filled with beautiful light during the day. Fresh towels, a TON of toiletries, and snacks were available as well. It was the perfect distance for walking to the French Quarter, which only took about 10-15 minutes to walk to Jackson Square, with beautiful houses along the way. We would 100% recommend staying in this apartment again, and hope to when we come back to New Orleans!

  • Shaunda was the perfect host. She was very collaborative and informative in terms of telling us how to find the place, get the keys, and was available if we had any further needs. The place was super clean, in a great location, and looked exactly like the pictures. It was also well equipped with extra toiletries, towels, snacks, sheets, etc. - everything we could ask for.

A quick side note - even on a muggy weekend - the AC and open air set-up contributed to a really comfortable, airy environment in the house.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Shaunda's lovely place. Shaunda met us at her place when we arrived and she was always in close contact with phone and texting, and very helpful. Her place was wonderful with comfy furniture and cozy ambience. It was a safe and short walk to the French Quarter. We'd love to come back!

  • A charming little apartment in a wonderful, not-fully gentrified, authentic neighborhood. Not only is it an easy walk to the French Quarter, it's also a neighborhood we enjoyed exploring and discovered lots of good things there: restaurants, a super hair salon on the corner and a nice piece of graffiti by Banksy, himself. As I was taking a photo of the Banksy piece, 3 or 4 people came over to chat about it's history, when Banksy was there, how some men tried to jack-hammer it off the building, the "gray ghost"'s attempt to cover it with gray paint, the plexiglass protection that now covers it and the stenciled graffiti on the plexi protection. One of the men had taken photos of it both before and after the jack-hammer caper and he was kind enough to email them to me. There's probably no place else this could have taken place and it happened right around the corner from the Adorable Esplanade Abode!

  • My family and I loved our stay at Shaunda's place. The location was great, with easy and safe walking access to the French Quarter, Marigny, Bywater and Frenchmen Street. The apartment was very clean, comfortable and homey. We appreciated the quiet and privacy, as well as Shaunda's suggestions and information on New Orleans. Can't wait to come back to NOLA - and I highly recommend staying here!

  • We had an amazing time in New Orleans and we would stay here again in a heartbeat. The place was so close to the French Quarter and parking was easy right out the front. We had everything we needed and the southern spices in the kitchen were a nice little touch.

  • We had a great trip! Shaunda was there to greet us when we arrived, and the apartment was clean, tidy and exactly as described. Convenient to the French Quarter but also Marigny/Bywater, safe to walk home at night and ideal for our vacation. Recommend the Sunday jazz brunch at Buffa's, only 3 blocks away!

    We'll be back!

  • Great stay! Plenty of room, nice patio with lounge chairs, rocking chairs, and tables. Easily walked to the French Quarter.

Shaunda had a stack of great information about where to eat and things to see.

Highly suggest this place, I'd stay here again in a heart beat!
