Pacific Azure, is a contemporary 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house located in the quaint little beach town of Mal Pais, Costa Rica... surrounded by lush tropical jungle, with minimalist elegance, light and space.
The house occupies the 2 and 3rd floors of the Pacific Azure Villa. There are 2 spacious master bedrooms with their own private bathroom and 1 cozy twin bedroom on the third floor. Quality bed linen and towels provided. Additionally each master bedroom has it's own bathroom, flat screen with cable TV, queen size bed with nightstands and reading lamps.
There's central A/C, but for those who rather, there are ceiling fans in each one of the bedrooms.
A fully fitted kitchen with granite counter tops includes all the necessary kitchen appliances and then some. Stove top, refrigerator, microwave oven, coffee maker, toaster, juicer, even a vitamix blender. Not to mention plenty of glassware, pots & pans, silverware, etc.
The villa benefits from a big West facing balcony that has an open air hot/cold Jacuzzi, a big BBQ pit, lounge sofas, hammock and a beautiful dining table that seats 8.
The great thing about our location is that the most important thing is just a short walk away. The beach! In fact it's more like a 7 minute walk. Even a shorter walk is Mary's Restaurant, which we highly recommend for their seafood specials and an overall fun atmosphere to hang with family and friends. There is a small convenient store (Super Chico) in town and a surf shop (Feedom Riding), both are a short walk from the villa.
Pacific Azure is perfect choice for those who want a sense of privacy during their vacation yet maintain proximity to the nightlife, restaurants, and the beautiful beaches of Mal Pais, Santa Teresa and Montezuma.
We stayed at Pacific Azure Feb 21-26th. We had one of the best vacations that my husband and I have ever had and we contribute that to the house and location. The host was very responsive to all my emails/questions! The house itself is much prettier and roomier than the pictures. It is a very good location in the fact that we were able to visit both the Montezuma area and also drive up the pacific coast to find private beaches.
Every morning we had Howler Monkeys visit us.
Diana was very attentive and went above and beyond to help us. We had a 9 month old baby with us and she even got us a crib and toys for her! We felt very safe in the area/house, with Diana and her family and dogs that live on the property.
You do need a car for this area if you want to explore. Santa Teresa is only about 5 minute drive and the "secret beach" about 5 minutes away. One afternoon we went to the fish market and got fresh fish which was wonderful. Having a car makes all this easier.
Imagine having all the bases covered once you make the booking. This is exactly what happened on my trip. The host just took care of everything you could imagine and was a pleasure to work with. He usually got back to us immediately if not within an hour time tops. In our case he also helped us look for rental cars, arranged taxis, had an ATV waiting for us upon arrival to the house, etc etc etc! His caretaker Diana and her family were really amazing as well, they were there to help us with anything we needed; they are a truly kind family.
Regarding the area; it's perfect location. Short walk or an ATV ride away from the beach. The town of Santa Teresa and their great surfing beaches are about 10-15 min away by ATV as well.
The house is exactly as you see in the pictures. Pretty stunning and relaxing. It's a very good place to settle into on your vacation.
My only real issues with the home was with the air condition, the house never cooled much below 80F. The other was the neighbors' dogs that freely ran the street leading up to the home's driveway. They are guard dogs and did not like us passing by at night on an ATV. The good news is that we made the host aware of these issues and just like everything else, they should be taken care of by the time your stay roles around.
Overall, great house and area, I'd love to stay here again soon!
