My first visit to Burlington and it was fantastic to stay at Mike's. All the reviews here are accurate. Perfect host. He makes a delightful homemade breakfast and is comfortable sitting down to have breakfast with you and help you plan your day or give you recommendations. He graciously loaned me his bike lock as I cruised around Burlington and made my 30mile round trip cycle to The Islands and back. Location is ideal-- city vibe and only 2 blocks from Church St. What more could you ask for? If you are a female traveling alone, like myself, it can be unnerving to stay at a private home with a male host you don't know. Trust me, Mike is the consummate professional and compassionate host. You can put your mind as ease, ladies! My cycle trip took longer than I had planned during my stay and when I got back, Mike kindly conveyed his concern but glad I had a great time. Can't wait to come back to Burlington - of course I'll stay @ Mike's! There is no other option in my mind.
What a great way to visit Burlington for the first time. The house is beautiful and sits in an awesome location. The host was fun to chat with at breakfast and throughout the day. If you need to know a little history about the city, the host is the guy to talk to. The breakfast he cooks each morning was the icing on the Burlington cake.
It is safe to say our expectations were completely met and exceeded. Highly recommended.
Perhaps our only regret staying at Mike’s was that we had stayed for only a day. Mike was a gracious host, and we thoroughly enjoyed his hospitality and the conversations we had. He made sure we knew our way to his property, which is perfectly located between the downtown (Church St. area) and UVM, and provided us with solid recommendations for sightseeing and eating in town. Our most memorable experience, however, must be the wonderful breakfast he prepared for us the next morning, despite his busy work schedule. It was not only delicious but very filling. We look forward to visiting him again in Burlington.
Our stay with Michael was very enjoyable. He greeted us when we arrived and showed us around his home. We enjoyed chatting with him each morning over delicious gourmet breakfast he prepared, it was different every day and always wonderful! The location was perfect for exploring the city, and he was full of information about where to go and what to do. We'll definitely be staying again if we visit Burlington!
This was our first time in Burlington and Michael couldn't have done a better job at making us feel welcome. The location is great; just off downtown and a short walk to the lake and the downtown amenities. Michael had excellent recommendations for places to eat.
The room and house itself were great. It was a clean and welcome home and the breakfast was excellent.
Michael is a skilled host. He lives right in the center of happening Burlington.
Michael was very communicative from the second we confirmed our booking. He followed up twice with detailed directions to the house and he was flexible with the key retrieval. He cooked us a tasty breakfast, with pomegranate juice and hard cider jam, and we had great coffee conversation about his community work. This early 1900s row house in downtown Burlington has a lot of charm on its own. Michael has great style and his attention to details adds great ambiance. The bedroom is bright, clean, warm and quiet. We did not have time to soak in the claw foot tub but that looks like the spot to unwind. Enjoy your trip to Burlington.

About the Host, Michael
I like to host and entertain in my distinctive century-old townhouse. When I travel I seek unique lodging experiences which are comfortable and convenient, and I strive to provide the same. I have visited all corners of the US, a good portion of Europe and East Asia. Meeting a wide-range of people is enjoyable. I enjoy meeting people and have the ability to hold up my end of the conversation in most any situation.
Originally a farm boy from the Midwest, I have been in Vermont for 15 years. I've found many hidden treasures and like to share those with family and friends.
