We are four blocks from the main downtown street in Kingston -- Princess Street -- where you will find all amenities: health food store, many cafes, beautiful outdoor farmer's market, fabulous restaurants, italian food shop, Good Life Fitness, banks, small movie theatre, larger grocery stores, and the centre of all Kingston Tourism: the Kingston waterfront and the Wolfe Island Ferry. Queen's University Campus is a 15 minute walk from the house.

This little house is quaint, full of original art, books, light, and is walking distance to everything you need!

With the house comes a quiet loveable big outdoor tabby cat -- he comes and goes through his cat door to eat and sometimes sleep but you won't see him much unless you love him. We are currently considering a new home for him but if anyone has cat allergies, this might not be the home for you to rent.
Guests can use the whole house. A light breakfast for your first day of your stay will be left in a basket in the fridge -- fruit, yogurt, granola, cream, coffee, and lovely bread. The house will be managed by neighbours when i am out of town but i will be close enough if you need me (35 kilometres away at my cabin in the woods).
Interaction with Guests
There is a chance that we may not be on site as we will also be travelling this summer. There will be a point person to help you if you need. Some weeks we will be staying locally and get help you ourselves. Guests will be using the whole house.
A neighbour will check in and be available for any problems.
A wonderful small community of close together houses on a relatively quiet downtown street -- the neighbours are all friends and we are a little happy community. You might even get a drop in visitor from a neighbour if you are (un?)lucky!
Public transportation is 50 meters from the door and we are 5 city blocks from downtown --walking distance is 10 minutes -- about one kilometre.
Other Things to Note
Parking for free in front of the house on the street 24 hours a day (April - December) and privately (free, December - March).
Our home is for one or two quiet couples or solo visitor or small family. While we adore little children, the house really a more mature space and there are safety concerns for children (no bannister, loose polished glass jewels in the floor, expensive earthen ware plates and a slate floor etc.).
We ask our guests to not have parties in the home under any circumstances and explicitly ask that the house be used only by the renting guests -- this extends to dinner or breakfast parties or any entertaining. We are meaningfully careful in this regard as this is our little loved home and not a hotel nor a restaurant.
This is a no smoking environment and no pets please -- besides the orange tabby who frequents us) We ask that our household furniture and belongings are not brought out onto the deck and that our books and instruments are enjoyed at the house. We ask that for the summer, the woodstove not be lit.
Smoking is permitted on the back deck but please be careful and use the tin with water for butts. If you are enjoying the back deck in the evening, please note that the houses are close together and the by-law requires that there is quiet after 11 p.m.
Beautiful cottage. Relaxing and Zen environment. Heidi was a friendly, accommodating host. Marmalade the cat is lovely too. Walking distance to downtown and campus. I would highly recommend staying here.
Heidi's house is cozy, inviting, and artistic. We really wanted something special for our weekend in Kingston and we got what we wanted. Heidi was very helpful.
Heidi's place is fantastic! We arrived early due to good traffic and got the neighbourhood welcome which was wonderful. It was so neat to see how connected the community was to each other and Heidi's cozy cabin. The house was even better than the pictures depicted and we felt at home right away. Everything was clean and tidy and her cat was a fun mascot for the weekend. Heidi left us helpful information for around Kingston and even some breakfast food! She also spent some (much appreciated) time providing us tidbits of knowledge for a job fair we were attending that weekend.
Overall our experience was a 12/10 and we would highly recommend this gem to anyone who comes across it.
We had a great weekend at Heidi's. The house is incredibly charming and almost feels like being in a tree fort, in the best possible way. The location is very convenient to central shopping and restaurants. Heidi was easy to communicate with and even left us staples for breakfast. Marmalade is a lovely addition to a welcoming home.
Had a lovely stay with friends at "the cottage" during Queen's Homecoming. Heidi (host) had left us some milk, tea and bread for our breakfast --a nice and welcoming touch! Everything was clean and ready for us. This is a charming home, lovely, and special, that will appeal to your inner artist. It favours comfort and natural things so if you are looking for a modern, streamlined place, this is not for you. It is a peaceful home with lots of unique touches. Possible to walk to Kingston's main street with shops etc. (about 5 blocks). It is in a quiet area of older row-type homes and duplexes.I loved being in a place that was nothing like a modern hotel. Heidi was very accommodating if we had a request, she would do her best to make things work. Thank you Heidi for a wonderful stay!
2 close friends and I were so thrilled to rent Heidi's urban cabin on a recent trip to attend a wedding/grad school reunion. From the moment we walked in, we felt right at home. In fact, while enjoying breakfast around the breakfast nook in the morning, my friend remarked that it did indeed feel like my home ;). Heidi's home is a close jaunt to Princess St in Kingston and all ammenities, the neighbourhood is very quiet, a shelf full of books will help lull you to sleep at night and the back patio area is a definite must for enjoying a glass of wine in the eve before dinner. Heidi was away the weekend we stayed but she was quick to answer text messages and left easy to follow directions. Overall, our communication was superb! Heidi's home is a definite must if you're looking for accom in Kingston.
I am a grown up traveller type who now prefers a dock and a gin and tonic on a local Canadian Shield Lake to city living (though i love our neighbourhood dearly). I spend my summer at my cabin north of Kingston and my home then stands empty for most of the summer.
I recently completed a PhD at Queen's and am delighted for that part of my life to be over! Playing in the wilderness in a canoe, kayak, or hiking and trail running are my passions.
The urban cabin will be all set for you and you might not actually connect with me in person but will meet one of our fine neighbours! This little two blocks we live on are full of fun families with children. It's an active street of socializing neighbours walking barefoot with beers or coffees to say hello to each other. Prepare to get caught in the cross fire of this fun community energy.
As for me? I am a connector. I love people, pets, friends, and tables full of laughing people drinking good wine. I am trusting and kind and want lovely humans to live in my home.
My background is in teaching and learning. I am a therapist by profession and a coffee barista in my heart!! I love children though i only got gifted one, she is a marvellous human who delights me every day.I love flowers and gardens and am a local food, local economy type human.
You will find me reflected in the earthiness of this home...wood timbers, warm colours, stone, brick, wood floors, American Clay plaster walls, local artist work and pottery and blown glass, books books and more books.
I am also an "emergent" artist... so my house has fun art and things dancing around in it!
My daughter and i are Airbnb users and recently travelled Italy with backpacks staying in magnificent people's homes, meeting locals, learning about the best places to eat and things to see this way. I am hooked on the magic of sharing our homes and lives with other travellers in this way. We are basically paying for each other to travel!
I look forward to sharing my home and it's energy and community with you...
