My neighborhood is a quiet, diverse suburb with trees and uneven sidewalks. The train station is about a 15 minute walk and gets you to NYC in 35 minutes for $12.50 round trip. There's a bus stop nearby but additional connections are needed to get to NYC. Montclair has tons of restaurants with a wide range of prices and palettes. Most are BYOB. My immediate neighborhood has a Chinese take out, pizza joint, and Caribbean take out so if you arrive starving, food is immediately available. The 15 minute walk to the main drag brings you to lots of shops, antique stores, a museum and coffee shops. There's a University at the far end of town.
I'm pretty laid back. I will make recommendations on things to see and do in NYC. I work full time but will be happy to chat at days end and hear about your adventures. My husband and April, the cat, are my co-hosts.
You have use of the common rooms, kitchen, living room, dining room, and you can keep food in my fridge, and cook if you like. There is FIOS internet but no TV. :(

Montclair is a pretty urban/ suburban place with lots in walking distance. Nice to come home to after a day in the big city.

Betsy was welcoming and accommodating. We were running late. She was easy to reach and provided helpful information about the location and how to get there. Her home was lovely and in a safe, quiet neighbourhood. We would definitely return.
Our time in Betsey's room was short but very good! Very friendly and welcoming! Everything was clean and good organized, we got a cup of coffee in the morning , couldn't have been better! Thanks a lot
The house is on a quiet street and easily accessible. Room is how it appears in the photo and very comfortable bed made for a good nights sleep. Coffee was made for me and other guests in the morning. The hosts for this house are very friendly and gracious.
Betsy was out of town for the two days that my mom and I stayed there, but her husband was home. He let us in and gave us a tour of their beautiful home. We were planning to go into the city the night we got to their house, but we were running late. He kindly drove us to the train station. My mom is a pretty slow walker, so the walk back to their house after taking the train took about 45 minutes, but should have only taken around 15/20. (My gps on my phone took us a longer route than what Betsy's husband had suggested, and my mom was taking breaks every couple of blocks.) I was totally content though because their neighborhood is so beautiful. There's another option to get into the city by driving to Newark Penn Station (20 minute drive from their house) and taking the path train to World Trade Center. Jay lent us subway maps/an informational booklet for the city which was a huge help! The room had a personal AC unit, which was great to choose our own temperature. The only complaint I have is the stairs leading up to the room were very steep, which was difficult for my mom to walk up. Other than that, everything was wonderful!
Was welcoming, room looks as-is in the picture. Was a little hot (the ac unit took awhile to kick in!) up in the attic, but the place and bathroom were both clean. Jay was also kind enough to help me with the parking into the driveway and also with getting a load of laundry completed. All in all a pleasant experience!
Betsy and Jay are helpful and very kind. They offered us almost all the things that we need. The room is small but very sweet and exactly the same as the picture.
The neighborhood is very safe and quiet.
The price is very fair. Betsy and Jay helped a lot.
Again, I had wonderful experience with Betsy -

About the Host, Betsy
I enjoy meeting new people which is why I choose to share my home with you IF you complete your profile with picture and verification.
I have extra rooms since my children have moved out. I'm in a nice neighborhood of single family homes, safe for walking to and from the train or bus.
My life motto: do the right thing, be fair.
