For a stay in Rome, this apartement has a very good location and is very cute!
But concerning the reactivity of the owner, that wasn't good at all. We had a problem with our key: it has broken in the lock and we were locked inside a Sunday 7:30 p.m for 15 hours. It could be very dangerous because the 2 windows could not open and the apartment is located in a backyard: nobody could hear us.
We tried many times to reach the owner, we left him many messages and mails. We had finally an answer 15 hours later. He didn't leave any emergency numbers in the apartment.
And we've finally called the firemen who opened the door.
But dixit the owner "Unfortunately we're not a hotel so it's hard to solve any problems That Could Happen Especially on a Sunday night."
So if you're sure that any problems could happen to you on night / sunday, you can rent this flat!
I just want to add that the Airbnb's agents, I've reach several by phone, were very present and nice, and they really tried to solve our problem as they could...
The location for this place is great. You walk outside and nightlife is abound. I only have a few issues with this place and I'm sure they're all because I'm from Los Angeles and live a cushy lifestyle. One, I wish Diego had explained the hot water situation with the water heater. I'm not sure what happened but it didn't work and we had no idea how to get it started. We basically showered in ice water for 2 days. The A/C didn't seem to work. There were definite mosquitos everywhere and the lamp on the table was not grounded and shocked the hell out of me when I accidentally touched it.
Also, the bathroom was super tiny. Good luck sitting down on the toilet if you're taller than 4' 10".
Diego was great about meeting us for check-in and was very friendly. I'm sure the issues were not his fault but were rather the result of never being to Europe before.
Also, strangely the person who checked us in introduced himself as another name than Diego.
Location, location, location! I couldn't get over how wonderful the location of the unit was. Right in the heart of Trastevere, everything you could want was at your doorstep. We found walking from the unit to the major attractions very easy.
The unit was clean and comfortable. Do watch your head upstairs! I am nursing a few bumps due to the low ceiling.
There were no hassles for the key exchange. Very smooth and on-time. Diego's communication was great too.
We would have no hesitation staying in this lovely unit again.
Diego's apartment was in a brilliant location within the Trastevere district of Rome.
surrounded by small restaurants, bars and shops - the area was bustling at night and felt like a vibrant and cool spot to be in.
the apartment was perfect with a great internal courtyard, Diego was very helpful and accommodating.
10/10 for location, as soon as you walk outside the front gate you are surrounding by great nightlife, shops, restaurants.
The town of Trastevere is fantastic, you can also walk to the Vatican, colosseum, and other big sites in about 20mins.
The apartment is quite quirky and I enjoyed the decor. I'm not sure why others complained about the noise it was very quite for me.
It was very easy to meet the hosts to exchange keys.
Cons - the apartment doesn't have a lot of natural light and airflow
The roof is very low upstairs, I hit my head every single day, my girlfriend once. Ouch !
Don't expect anything 5 star here but it's good value for money and you will be too busy exploring rome to worry about the apartment.
The location of the apartment is perfect. Very pleasant district of Rome. It was also appreciable to enjoy the calm atmosphere of the apartment.
Diego, the main contact wasn't available for my arrival so he asked a friend of him to replace him to provide the keys. His friend wasn't present on time and didn't respond to my messages for a while. Finally, after responding to my call, he arrived one hour late. It is not cool when you arrive alone on a city you don't know.
Very wet apartment.
There were no matches to light the cooker.
Great apartment, everything you could possibly need, and in the heart of Trastevere!
There are good and bad points to be made about this studio. Apart from being a little damp, the apartment is in a good location and fine for a few days with a friend or partner. It was a little noisy at night, but not a big problem.
However, Diego isn't exactly customer friendly. After turing up at 8.30pm he demanded 30 euros when the cut off time for arrival was 8pm.
"You can see it all on the website" he states without any humanity whatsoever. "But we're only half an hour late!?" I said. He simply repeated his previous response. No negotiating. Nothing. I couldn't believe it. I wish I had't given it to him, but he was awkwardly persuasive and I was tired from travelling.
Also, he would not let us leave our bags anywhere on our last day, when our flight was in the evening. "You can pay to leave your bags in a locker in Termini, it's not far." He says. Termini being a 45 minute walk away. For the number of apartments he claimed to own in Rome, it appeared he couldn't be bothered to help us out with a place to dump our bags for a few hours. So we carried them around with us. After all. Why would we want to go all the way to Termini, dump our bags, then go all the way back into the centre of Rome for our final days sight seeing?
Overall. I wish I had booked with someone else. I got infinitely nicer responses and help from a number of other owners in Trastevere, but unfortunately I booked through Diego in a bit of a panic as prices were going up for flights rapidly. My girlfriend and I are both teachers, and are very tolerant, patient and understanding people. Diego is none of these things. My advice. Book with someone else who has an idea about what it is to deal with perfectly nice customers.
Most definitely not a good guest, wouldn't recommend to anyone! David doesn't read the adverts before booking so he can blame it on hosts afterwards. It's clear on the advert about the house rules and everyone understands and respects it. Apartments are not hotels and a host shouldn't have to wait for a guest until whatever time he wants for they also have lives and jobs. Furthermore the late fee is nothing I came up with, all the hosts charge it. Same thing regarding the the check-out. If you read the voucher you will see the check-in and out times, also if the calender is free or not. Rules are made to be followed and I owe the same respect to the next guest, so the best I could do was recommend a place to leave the luggage.
It's a nice nest in the heart of Trastevere. The flat is a smal duplex on the ground floor, so it's not very bright. But this disadvantage is balanced with the perfect location.
Tratevere is very noisy neigbourhood, but the flat is on the courtyard, so it's very quiet and you don't hear the noize from the street.
Be carefull for hight person because the ceiling of the bed is very low.
The kitchen is totaly equiped so you can cook easly. But there is so many restaurants around the flat, that you will going out a lot for eating.
Diego was sympatic because we where late and he was waiting for us. But he doesn't live on the flat, he's just rent it.
Enjoy your stay !
A great place to stay! If you like Trastevere and it's vivid night life, we recommend this apartment. It is indeed small, but if you don't intend to stay inside all day (you are in Rome huh!) it's perfect. Although located in the middle of a busy area, the apartment is very quiet.
Diego helped us with great restaurant tips and transport.
