In the heart of shelburne falls village, one block from the center, set back from the street and surrounded by trees. This private guest space is near eateries, art galleries, boutiques, and 10 minutes to 91.
The studio apartment is located above the shop, out behind our house and gallery. The space was recently built by Jim and now has wifi, t.v., a reading chair, a desk, a table to eat at, coffee maker, a bathroom with a shower, a couch, and a king size bed. The lower shop is air sealed when work is being done, and we treat the upstairs as a "dust free zone". The shop is not in use when guests are here without making prior arrangements. The space is very private and great for a couple or single person passing through. We have a futon foldout for kids also. This place is an easy jump out of bed for a coffee or stroll through town. Being in the heart of our little village, you'll find local movies, live music, the coffee shop, numerous restaurants, a great food co-op, the artisans co-op gallery, and lots more. We are also about a block from the entrance to the Bridge of Flowers and 2 blocks from the Glacial Potholes.
The Arcansus Gallery, located in the lower street front of the house, has woodwork and wildlife photographs, and is open to the public on weekends. Out behind the house, you'll find a paver courtyard, a nice lawn, sandbox, gardens, a chicken coop, and the shop, a.k.a. 14 9/16th.
We try to keep things very clean in general.
The apartment has a full bath, king sized pillow-top bed, futon pullout, small fridge, coffee maker, pot & utensils, a 24" t.v. w/dvd, cable, wifi, and an ipod/phone docking station w/speakers.
We are currently not offering breakfast, as we are just to busy with two little girls and life in general. We would highly recommend Mocha Maya's coffee shop, McCuskers co-op, or the Foxtowne Diner. Most are open quite early.
We hope you'll come stay with us and enjoy our space and beautiful surroundings.

wifi, t.v. w/cable and dvd, clock, radio, air conditioner, hot shower, pillow top king size bed. Sorry, no use of the shop:)
Interaction with Guests
We are often around and out back playing with the kids, gardening, feeding the new chickens (no rooster!), and going about our lives. The gallery is open only on weekends. We enjoy company and are glad to say hello.
Good eats, friendly people, beautiful river, and a special feeling.
Not really much for public transportation. There is the franklin regional transit authority (frta) stop 1 block away.
Other Things to Note
We have kept the space open this winter for 2015.
We only expect people to be respectful and nice. We hope that you will treat the space as you would your own home. We will empty the trash and wash the sheets. We do expect guests to let us know if they need anything or if anything should happen. The shower is a step in claw foot tub with overhead shower head. Please be aware of the water spillage. No cigarette smoking and no excessive alcohol consumption. Have fun!
We had a great stay in Jim and Cyndee's wood shop. It's a beautiful space with very easy walking access to all that Shelburne Falls has to offer.
Jim is a great host and made us feel welcome through the entire process.
Cyndee and Jim were wonderful hosts and their woodshop is one of the coziest places I have ever slept in all of Airbnb. Everyone was busy Saturday morning getting ready to go ski, so we only met them briefly, but Cyndee and Jim were full of local tips and advice (even helping my girlfriend with some herbal remedies for a nasty winter cold). Jim is obviously an experienced craftsman and the woodshop proves it. It was a pleasure to meet them and we hope to stay again soon.
I just loved the woodshop.
It smelled like the country and felt like home. Jim and Cyndee were so welcoming and helpful. I only wish I could have spent more time!
I'll definitely be going back. The location is perfect and the space is so unique. One of the reasons I love Airbnb.
Cyndee and Jim were very responsive to my emails with questions about my chemical sensitivities and allergies, and even provided an alternative plug-in heater. The space is very sweet, but I was unable to stay overnight, because there is no door between the woodshop below and the bedroom above, and I had a bad reaction to something in the air eve after airing the space out for over an our while I went to dinner. It would have been helpful if this was mentioned in the description or if it had come up in our email discussion before I booked. (This is an unusual set-up, and if I had known that, I would have known that the space wouldn't work for me, and been spared the 2-hour drive home after dark and the cost.) I was surprised not to hear any response back from them about this.
Everything was fantastic, very easy stay. Jim was very communicative and helpful. thank you!
The woodshop studio was perfect for our needs and our stay! Even on a cold December evening, Jim made sure we were taken care of and that the studio was heated to a comfortable temperature. The studio is clean, quiet and perfect for a relaxing stay in the Valley. Highly recommend.
Great spot super close to the downtown area! Cyndee and Jim were unfortunately away the night we were there, but communication beforehand was very clear so this was not an issue at all. I would recommend this to anyone traveling in the area, though I would say it's best suited for a couple or a couple and child rather than 4 people.

Im Cyndee! I am a mom of two beautiful girls, Isabela and Marlee. I love to cook, create functional and ridiculous art, build, ferment, sing and play guitar, laugh, mountain bike and hike, swim, play sports, read and to garden. I enjoy good people with good hearts from all different backgrounds. We are active in our community and work hard to achieve our goals. We are excited to use Airbnb!!
