The Space

The studio apartment is located above the shop, out behind our house and gallery. The space was recently built by Jim and now has a little kitchenette, wifi, t.v., a reading chair, a desk, a table to eat at, a bathroom with a shower, a couch, and a king size bed. The lower shop is air sealed when work is being done, and we treat the upstairs as a "dust free zone". The shop is not in use when guests are here without making prior arrangements. The space is very private and great for a couple or single person passing through. We have a futon foldout for kids also. This place is an easy jump out of bed for a coffee or stroll through town. Being in the heart of our little village, you'll find local movies, live music, the coffee shop, numerous restaurants, a great food co-op, the artisans co-op gallery, and lots more. We are also about a block from the entrance to the Bridge of Flowers and 2 blocks from the Glacial Potholes.
The Arcansus Gallery, located in the lower street front of the house, has woodwork and wildlife photographs, and is open to the public on weekends. Out behind the house, you'll find a paver courtyard, a nice lawn, sandbox, gardens, a chicken coop, and the shop, a.k.a. 14 9/16th.
We try to keep things very clean in general.
The apartment has a full bath, king sized pillow-top bed, futon pullout, small fridge, hot plate, pot & utensils, a 24" t.v. w/dvd, cable, wifi, and an ipod/phone docking station w/speakers. We prefer there not to be a lot of cooking, as the only sink is in the bathroom and all waste must make it all the way to the street.
We are currently not offering breakfast, as we are just to busy with two little girls and life in general. We would highly recommend Mocha Maya's coffee shop, McCuskers co-op, and La Luncheonette. Most are open quite early.
We hope you'll come stay with us and enjoy our space and beautiful surroundings.

Guest Access

wifi, t.v. w/cable and dvd, clock, radio, air conditioner, hot shower (our hot water tank is small and provides a good 5-8 minute shower), pillow top king size bed. Sorry, no use of the shop:)

Interaction with Guests

We are often around and out back playing with the kids, gardening, feeding the new chickens (no rooster!), and going about our lives. The gallery is open only on weekends. We enjoy company and are glad to say hello.

The Neighborhood

Good eats, friendly people, beautiful river, and a special feeling.

Getting around

Bicycle! Canoe!
Not really much for public transportation. There is the franklin regional transit authority (frta) stop 1 block away.

  • My husband Greg and I had the pleasure of staying in Cyndee and Jim's Private Woodshop Studio for a night while traveling through Massachusetts en-route to NY. It was so very cozy. The bed was extremely comfortable and we had a terrific night sleep! the space is very cute, clean and quiet. It had everything we needed for a nice nights stay. Cyndee and Jim were very hospitable and friendly and made us feel right at home! Thank you for a restful night!

  • This is a quaint little studio in a great location, right in the center of town! Cyndee and Jim are very sweet, and great hosts! They weren't kidding about the hot water situation, but nonetheless we truly enjoyed our stay.

  • This was really an amazing experience. Cyndee and Jim provided more then just a cozy nook to "hang your hat." Staying with them provided a fully welcoming, hospitable, nurturing environment. The space is lovely, dogs are invited, and the experience was more then I could have expected. The bare logistics: a skip to town, brisk walk to hiking trails, wood stove for cozy warmth, and two guides who will make you feel like a local (and even might take you around town too!). If you are looking for a real Western Mass experience, in one of the most beautiful towns in the area, then I highly recommend staying with Cyndee and Jim.

  • I was in Shelburne Falls for a Cider Festival with my girlfriend and stayed with Cyndee and Jim in their excellent studio apartment. The wood stove kept things plenty warm on a cold November night (30-40F). Cyndee and Jim were very hospitable, friendly and suggested several fun things to do while in town. Would definitely stay there again, looking forward to the Cider Fest next year!

  • We loved our brief stay here at the Gallery Frame Shop Studio. Everything was in order. Cyndee and Jim were great about communicating all the way through. It's charming, clean and private. The town is a block away with lots of fun shops and cafes with music, a natural food store, etc. Would recommend.
