  • The apartment was modest, but it met our needs perfectly. Our needs: a place to sleep and shower. The beds were small, but comfortable enough. The bathroom was also small, but the shower had great water pressure, which I appreciated. As a host, Melissa was very friendly and accommodating, and I also appreciated that after she gave us the keys, I didn't see a lot of her. Don't get me wrong, she's a very pleasant person, but I enjoyed the sense of privacy. Thanks again, Melissa!

  • While visiting friends in Brooklyn, I just needed a place to put my things, sleep and shower -- and Leffert Gardens was just fine. Melissa is responsive, flexible and pleasant. A good value alternative.

  • My stay at Melissa's was just as I had expected after reading all the reviews. There's been ample space in the room (which I occupied alone) and Melissa is a very kind host. I got exactly what I needed, (i.e. a bed, keys to the place and a good connection to Manhattan at every time).

  • The room was spare but pleasant. The bathtub was not very clean. The location was very convenient to metro. Melissa was pleasant and helpful with directions. There was a great Indian restaurant a few blocks away.

  • I enjoyed staying at Melissa's in Brooklyn. It was a nice, interesting neighborhood, and Melissa helped me find a nice Indian restaurant. She also got me on the right bus to go to the Metro and on to the Airport. I thank her for a good stay and good location.

  • Melissa's place was exactly what I needed; a comfy, clean bed, clean bathroom, and close to the 2 train to Manhattan, but definitely no bells and whistles. If you're looking for a hotel type room I would look elsewhere. Melissa was very kind and even made me breakfast one day while her adorable son showed me his toys. I was happy to give my money to someone who could use it rather than a hotel.

  • Melissa's place it's ok, you pretty much get what you pay for. If you're very particular about cleanliness, used to a very comfortable bed, and having fresh towels everyday this is not your place to stay, but if you're only looking for a place to crash and take a shower then you would be fine. The bedroom was clean enough, she has two army cot like beds with cushioning and clean sheets, she gives you clean towels when you arrive, the bathroom was ok not the cleanest, I'm not sure if it's because of the piping but the whole time smelled like urine so that wasn't pleasant, she has problems with the bathtub so for the first two days we showered in a clogged bathtub until we notified her and then she told us the trick to the tub, wish she would've said it from the beginning so we would've have been taking a shower in a clogged tub, she never changed the hand towel in the bathroom and by the third day we were there the towel smelled pretty bad. Hospitality wise, she hands you the keys and then you're on your own. She did offer us a glass of lemonade when we first got in but that was pretty much it, after that we really didn't see her much. Don't expect any directions from her if you're taking public transportation, wish she would've given us specific directions from JFK rather than vague ones. Don't expect hotel like friendly environment. The experience wasn't the greatest but it wasn't terrible either. Will I stay there again? Probably not as it is not my type of environment. Overall, on a scale 1-10 I give it a 5.
