Katherin was wonderful! We arrived in the early afternoon, easy instructions and no issues locating her home. It was beautiful and warm.
My husband was ill and she was gracious to help me obtain a Dr's appt which is scary in a foreign country. She made a fabulous breakfast each morning and a wonderful dinner for me without hesitation when he couldn't leave the cottage.
We would go back in a heartbeat and appreciate the kindness she showed us. We are lucky to have met her and been invited to this beautiful home.
Kathrein was a great host in a very comfortable home that had a view of the sea and was only a short walk away from the water's edge. The quiet country area was a great retreat from the city, but it was also very easy to drive into Galway. Kathrein made every effort to make us feel at home and cooked a wonderful breakfast each morning. She also provided great ideas for places to eat and sites to see in the area.
Katherine is much more than I expected. I knew she would be good because of the comments she had, but she goes beyond that. She is the perfect host.
Every morning she helped me plan the excursions for the day, but she had previously checked the weather forecast to see what would be better for me. She prepared the fantastic breakfast every morning, great energy!
The house is beautiful, full of details and very comfortable. There is nothing you could miss. She has thought of everything, you cannot feel better.
The area is beautiful, quiet and peaceful, but of course you always need a car, as the house is 2 km away from the main road. If you have this in mind, I am sure there cannot be a better destination in Ireland.
Where to begin?words seem inadequate to describe my two night stay with Kathrein at her beautiful comfortable home.
I believe she is the perfect host. The room and facilities were clean comfortable and very welcoming. She is kind, considerate polite and down right lovely.
The location is almost fairy tail magical and I was able to have a long walk on the common by the water to wind down after my drive.
Breakfast was very generous and delicious and Kathrein went out of her way to cater to my dietary requirements.
All of her suggested places to visit were a delight and staying with Kathrein was definately a highlight of my visit to Ireland.
Katherine was very gracious and welcoming. She gave great advice in where to eat. We had a wonderful day trip to the Burren on her recommendation. The room was clean and comfortable. Katherine provided many thoughtful amenities. You could see she was prepared for her guests.
About the Host, Kathrein
I grew up in Germany and via a six year stint in London came to the West coast of Ireland. Along the way I was teaching, designing knitwear restoring old buildings and hosting guests in a holiday cottage. I love reading, art & crafts, gardening, travel and entertaining friends around a table of good food and wine.
