  • Kathrein house is comfortable, the location is picturesque and she (email hidden). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommended anyone thinking of staying here to do so. For a great meal you must try Morans restaurant, the food and service is fantastic.

  • Katherin (email hidden) who helped show me what life in Ireland was like! She was very kind and knowledgeable about the area and made excellent, healthy food. I felt very much at home the whole time, and was sad to leave this great place!

  • Our experience with Kathrein was just delightful! Her house is exactly as described/pictured, she cooks a wonderful breakfast, and she was a very gracious host. She gave excellent advice for local places to eat and took time to help us map out our plans each day. There is a bay just down the road, the cute village of Kinvarra is nearby, and it (email hidden) to stay in the middle of Galway and Clare. Would recommend Kathrein and her home to anyone!

  • We could not have asked (email hidden) to stay in Ireland. Kathrein is very knowledgeable about the area and how to avoid the tourists traps! The room was more than spacious enough for the two (not to mention to sauna!) of us and the breakfast was great. Just what we needed to get the day going! We had a great time with great conversation. Small word of advice is to rent a car. We decided to at the last minute and it was well worth it for the area. Can't wait to go back!

  • My husband and I are in the midst of an around-the-world trip and our stay with Kathrein was one of our favorites thus far! She is incredibly sweet and has a beautiful home (and cute dog, Harry!). Our journey from Killarney to Kathrein's home took us longer than anticipated and we didn't arrive until close to midnight. We really appreciated how understanding Kathrein was about our delay and were grateful that she waited up for us.

We enjoyed chatting with her each morning over her delicious breakfasts. She is a great cook! She was also very helpful as we planned out each day's itinerary. She had lots of maps and great suggestions of places to visit.

Kathrein's home is clean and full of character. Our bedroom and ensuite bathroom were both very large. The location was ideal. You feel like you're in a remote part of the Irish countryside, but in reality, you're only a 20-30 min drive from Galway. It's also close to the Cliffs of Moher and the beautiful Burren.

We highly recommend this home. In fact, we have already recommended it to a few of our family members :)

    Thanks for everything, Kathrein!

  • I had a lovely stay with Kathrein. Her home is clean and quiret, a bit the road but conveniently located for touring the Cliffs of Mohr. Kathrein made a lovey breakfast and had a fire burning in the living room fireplace which was lovely when we returned from a day of sightseeing.

I grew up in Germany and via a six year stint in London came to the West coast of Ireland. Along the way I was teaching, designing knitwear restoring old buildings and hosting guests in a holiday cottage. I love reading, art & crafts, gardening, travel and entertaining friends around a table of good food and wine.
