Elegant home, built in 1875, with stunning hardwood floors, vintage details and tasteful, modern furnishings, located near downtown Brunswick and Bowdoin College. 3 bedrooms, 2 full baths (one with claw foot tub and overhead shower and the second recently remodeled and featuring a spacious step-in tiled shower). Queen in one room, full in another and a twin with trundle in the third bedroom (ideal for children). Formal living room as well as family room -- a family of 6 could stay here easily without getting in each other's way. Large country kitchen with dishwasher, sunny breakfast bar and way too much gourmet equipment. A full dining room with a table that seats 8 comfortably.
Available for long weekends in July and week long rentals in August. Ask about other dates, including Bowdoin Commencement and Parents' weekends.
Just off Rte 1 and close to beaches and the islands of Casco Bay.
Walk to downtown Brunswick in 5 minutes to enjoy wonderful restaurants, cute shops, supermarket, library, farmer's market, an antique mart and local movie theater, as well as the Maine State Music Theater.
A 5 minute walk to Amtrak's Downeaster or the Concord Coach (we're close enough to hear the train's whistle).
Relax on the deck, enjoy the blooming flower beds and vegetable gardens (which will be bountiful in July and August) or read in the peaceful wooded back yard. The perfect base for a family or group of friends who want to experience summer in Maine.
Sheets and bedding will be provided and the beds will be made up when you arrive--I ask that you strip the beds and put the sheets in the laundry room when you are leaving. The kitchen is not glamorous, but I have gorgeous pots and pans, Kitchen Aide, ice cream maker, Cusinart, everything a gourmet cook needs (well, the stove is basic) and you are welcome to use although damage will be deducted from a security deposit. To hold the place you'll need a security deposit of half the rent. I do have a cat and a hypoallergenic dog, but neither will be here during any time you are renting.
The reservation was canceled 67 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
I would like to strongly recommend staying at Mary's home. The house is beautiful with eclectic, worldly decor and spacious rooms. Mary is a fantastic host that provides excellent suggestions of things to do and see in the town of Brunswick that unfolds right outside her door. She truly went the extra mile for us- down to leaving an infant bath set for our newborn son. Her home provides a great "home base" to launch excursions to Freeport and Popham beach. What a great way to experience the hospitality of Maine.
Our family stayed in Mary's lovely country home during Bowdoin graduation weekend. Extremely convenient walk to downtime and to campus. The living spaces are very spacious & open, the kitchen fully equipped (very cool country kitchen with gas stove) and the beds / linens very comfortable. Highly recommend Mary's house.
Lovely & very spacious house. Cooly and charmingly decorated. Mary was a great host.
The house is great and Mary is so helpful. Everyone in our group hope to spend more days here in the future.
Writer with flexible schedule looking to rent her big beautiful Maine house for a few weeks in the summer while I am away at writing retreats and on vacation. Also will consider house swaps (do you live in LA? The Bay Area? Let's talk!) I can't do without great movies, good books (there are so many in my house; don't worry if you forget to pack your Kindle) and wonderful food. I wish I had an updated, gorgeous kitchen, but I promise you, my utilitarian country kitchen contains every little thing you need, from lemon zester to cookbooks to muffin pans and Le Creuset Dutch Ovens...
