VILLA AGNESE

Villa Agnese is within walking distance from the historical centre of Sarnano, one of the most beautiful medieval villages in Italy. Its privileged location, 530 metres above sea level, in the Sibillini National Park, offers stunning views of the surrounding village and hills.
The centre can be reached in five minutes and a large variety of delicious specialties can be found at the local stores. For those who prefer relaxing in the shade of a luscious garden, there are games such as a ping-pong table, foos-ball, and a barbecue where you can enjoy all kinds of meat or vegetables available at the local market or in the many butcher’s in the village.
In the villa, which has been recently restored in the style of an old country house dating back to the beginning of the nineteenth century, comprises two identical large apartments (170 sq. meters wide), located at ground and first floor. In each flat all modern facilities are available, and the spacious dining room (85 sq. metres wide) from where you have direct access to the garden (ground floor) or a wonderful view of the village, is ideal for big groups or large families (up to 10 people) wanting to experience the beauties of this oasis of quietness.

Sarnano and its close back country are offer a large variety of cultural, artistic, culinary, and sport events. Our favorite ones are:

Caldarola (12 km, medieval castle “Pallotta”)
San Ginesio (14 km, medieval village, tango festival in august)
Lake of di Fiastra (23 km, beaches and trekking)
Urbisaglia (25 km, medieval castle and archeological site -
Abbadia Chiaravalle di Fiastra (28 km)
Pollenza (35 km, medieval castle “La Rancia”)
Macerata (41 km, Opera/Sferisterio)
Ascoli Piceno (50 km, city of art)
Recanati (59 km, Giacomo Leopardi’s home/museum)
Frasassi (76 km, Frasassi caves)
Loreto (79 km, Sanctuary of Loreto)
Sirolo (km 88, Park of del Conero, beaches and trekking)
Assisi (110 km, Basilica of San Francesco)

We live in Como most of the year, but Sarnano is the place where we love to stay. The house is part our family history, restoring it has been a long but rewarding work. Our daughters loved spending time in the garden looking for ladybugs, porcupines and the neighbors hens. Now they enjoy hiking in the Sibillini mountains or gathering with friends in the garden that used to be their playground. For us this is “home”: the smells, the people, and the atmosphere are unique, a beautiful peace of Italy to be proud of. In 2001 we decide to renovate the house, which formerly belonged to my grandfather, because we couldn’t resist the charm of this quite place, full of history. Here you can feel totally laid-back either reading, listening to the birds singing, or sipping a good local wine while eating “ciauscolo”. We can’t ask for more! At Villa Agnese you can either choose to be fully immersed in a medieval setting, spend your time hiking in the mountains, swim in the lake Fiastra, cycle along hilly bike-paths, relax at the local spa, or go sightseeing ancient Roman ruins. Everything is at hand, the information point is a few steps from the villa, besides you will find useful brochures in the house.
