Wow. Far exceeding expectations! Ron, his family, and Marty (lives in other guest house) were welcoming from the beginning. Ron picked us up from the airport and drove us the 1 1/2 to Orosi. It felt more like a guided tour as he stopped at look outs, took is down side streets to see churches, and answered all of our questions about the structure of Costa Rica. The cottage is clean and had all of the amenities we needed. We borrowed his bikes. A tire popped and he went out to get a brand new one. His son was having a go away party with his extended family, and he invited us! He gave us a delicious Costa Rican dinner with his family. We got a glimpse into the REAL Costa Rica (that is lost in much of the other touristy cities we have been to).
If you are looking for a welcoming home stay (who leaves you fresh fruit on your doorstep while you are away) stay here!
Ron was available to for questions and gave great guidance to get a local feel for the culture. It was a nice apartment that met all of our needs and provided a space to us to make snacks. I can recommend this place to anyone with confidence and that Ron is truly a great and available host. Wish we would have had more time to spend there.
Ron was very helpful and accommodating, and the apartment is very tidy, and lovely. I'm so happy I decided to travel to Orosi, it is such a hidden gem in Costa Rica. Ron and Katia are very warm people, he offered to help me remove a very large spider as well :)
Very happy with this airbnb!
Ron, his beautiful wife, Kattia, and their wonderful sons made us feel so welcome as if we were members of their family. Our two night stay was definitely the highlight of our trip and with Ron's help we found the area that we want to live when we relocate to Costa Rica. He helped us navigate the nearby towns, restaurants, and local views and showed us several different areas that he thought we might like. Ron helped me overcome my fear of taking public buses in a foreign country by riding with us to our stop. I cannot say enough kind things about Ron and his family. I really wished we were able to stay there longer. The casita was clean, comfortable and as described. The family cat, Ova, was friendly and loving and made it feel even more like home. Pura Vida personified.
Ron was a great host, couldn't have asked for better. He made sure we had everything we needed and then some. He also had some great recommendations for things to do in the area and even helped us figure out transportation.
The small cabin we stayed in behind the main house was comfortable and secure, conveniently close to a small grocery, cantina, and bus stops. Ron has a sweet cat that loves to come hang out every now and then. It was nice having the company.
We would stay there again :)
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay! This was one of the best values of our trip- the space was very comfortable and clean. Ron was an extremely helpful host. When we got there he took us on a quick tour of Orosi, which was very helpful. The location was great, and we could easily walk or take the bus into town. Orosi is a beautiful little town, and we enjoyed walking around it. There was a bank, several grocery stores, and plenty of cafes and restaurants. While we stayed we went horseback riding through the mountains, and the Orosi valley is truly a beautiful area! Ron also helped us figure out the best way to travel by bus to our next location, and even gave us a lift to the bus stop in Cartago on his way through town. I highly recommend staying here, particularly for backpackers or anyone looking to make the most of your money while you travel!
