About this listing
Experience authentic, Balinese life. The Payogan Homestay Villa is located within our traditional, Balinese family compound, a 20 minute walk away from Ubud. The villa is spacious, in the traditional Balinese style. Situated at the back of the compound, overlooking a rice field and tropical plantation, the villa offers more privacy and space. However, you will still wake up to the traditional sounds of Bali and experience the essence of staying in a Balinese village.
The space includes a full kitchen and dining room, three bedrooms, an indoor living space, and a large terrace. The open-air bathroom includes a tub and shower with hot water only a turn-of-a-tap away.
Living in a Balinese family compound means that you will have many friendly, neighbors. The compound is home to a large extended family, all of whom are very involved in traditional Balinese life, and committed to our village ceremonies, many of which take place in our family temple. We welcome you to participate if you choose. In fact, we encourage our guests to join us to get the true feeling of Balinese culture. We can always help you through the experience and provide the traditional wear.

Ketut is very kind. The breakfast is very delicious, and we all enjoy it.
Our family of 5, including 3 primary school age children, had a wonderful time at the Payogan home stay. Ketut and his family were most welcoming and kind, collecting us from the airport late at night and driving us into town. Ketut's advice as to places to visit and eat was invaluable and the home cooked breakfasts were delicious. We enjoyed the atmosphere of the compound with its beautiful gardens and explored the adjoining rice fields and neighbouring farm. It is a pleasant walk through the rice fields to the main road into Ubud, close to restaurants, spas and the Neka Museum. A wonderful experience.
The house is really good, especially the temperature is pretty cool in the evening,we can even sleep without turning on the AC.There is such a amiable host as well as his sons. One of his sons became our driver for three days and gave up actually valuable price, hope everybody who comes to Ubud choose Payogan Homestay because it is a really nice option for you.
An unusual travelling experience! Different from my family's usual travel accomodation option, staying with Ketut brings a personal touch to our trip! If you are looking for a Balinese experience that makes you feel welcomed and belonged, one that allows you to be culturally enlightened, ketuts place is the right house for you! Try their banana pancakes, 24 hour house smoked duck and nasi goreng, delicacies that taste better than lots of restaurants out there! Ask for their recommendations on where to eat and visit! An advice from the locals can't go wrong! Lastly, a big thank you to his family, especially wayan and Krishna who brought us around, his wife who cooked and cleaned for us! We enjoyed the trip very much! The best host indeed!
Ketut's place is located in the mountains of Ubud with open space to relax. We had a great time in Ubud and Bali with Ketut and his family's support - hikes, transportation, cellphone, lost and found -- Ketut was there to help. A wonderful and high recommended place to be welcomed into Bali :)
Ketut was extremely accommodating and welcoming. I could see why he has so many raving reviews about how excellent a host he was. He always emphasized on making us feel like family and at home and it was very reassuring and comfortable.
However, i felt that there were a few hiccups and Ketut was busy throughout the 2 days we were there and asked his nephew, Wayang to bring us around instead and.. it wasn't as interesting and informing as we expected. The homestay wasn't too shabby but it will not be a luxurious villa with aircon and beautiful hotel-like rooms.
