The space

Experience authentic, Balinese life. The Payogan Homestay Villa is located within our traditional, Balinese family compound, a 20 minute walk away from Ubud. The villa is spacious, in the traditional Balinese style. Situated at the back of the compound, overlooking a rice field and tropical plantation, the villa offers more privacy and space. However, you will still wake up to the traditional sounds of Bali and experience the essence of staying in a Balinese village.

The space includes a full kitchen and dining room, three bedrooms, an indoor living space, and a large terrace. The open-air bathroom includes a tub and shower with hot water only a turn-of-a-tap away.

Living in a Balinese family compound means that you will have many friendly, neighbors. The compound is home to a large extended family, all of whom are very involved in traditional Balinese life, and committed to our village ceremonies, many of which take place in our family temple. We welcome you to participate if you choose. In fact, we encourage our guests to join us to get the true feeling of Balinese culture. We can always help you through the experience and provide the traditional wear.

As a licensed tour guide by profession, I can provide custom guided tours according to your interests and needs. We also provide airport transfer and local transportation at a very reasonable rate - we are only a call away.

Other highlights:
- Longer stays enjoy a significantly reduced room rate.
- Breakfast and/or other meals can be provided on request for minimal cost.
- We can arrange laundry pick-up and delivery at very reasonable rates.

If there is anything else you need, just let us know. We want your stay with our family to be memorable.

If you're looking to experience a real and authentic Balinese Ubud community, then Ketut's homestay is the place for you! From day one of our initial contact Ketut was engaged and consistently in communication with us as we confirmed and finalized our trip. He was great about recommending the appropriate rental space for us on his property based on our needs; we wound up upgrading from a studio to the 3 bedroom villa when my mom decided to join us. Ketut and his family are some of the warmest and inviting folks. They are a brilliant manifestation of Balinese culture! We felt at home during our month plus stay! The banana pancakes are everything and more... well worth the rave reviews! The villa was lovely! The master bedroom and gigantic bed upstairs were amazing and allowed my partner, six month old and I to rest comfortably. The outdoor shower was fantastic - water pressure and temp were consistently good. If WiFi is a must, then you'll be happy. We were able to stream movies, make calls and work online without a problem. The villa grounds and views were spectacular. The space is great for a family or a few friends who desire more space and a kitchen. Payogan is situated about 10 minutes from Ubud centre by car or scooter. The village offers a great opportunity to take in the rural and traditional Balinese life WITH added ammenties such as hot water, WiFi, etc. You get the country experience of waking up to roosters crowing alongside technology staples. If you're a foodie, there a number of tasty restaurants in Payogan or neighboring villages (Fuzion, Ubud Warung, Naughty Nuri's, Leave Room for Dessert, and Warung Tapi Tebing), so you don't need to get into the city center to enjoy a delicious meal. We were so happy with our experience at Payogan Homestay that we extended our time, albeit in one of the studio apartments, for a few more weeks. Ketut and his family (shout out to Wayan, our comedian /driver) have become people we feel we can or will call friends and will know for a long time to come! heart feels!

Our stay in Ubud in Ketuts House was amazing! Its in the middle of the jungle and with our scooter we needed 10-15 minutes to the center of ubud. Ketut is one of the friendliest hosts i had on Airbnb. He is looking for you every day, asking if he can help you with anything and he helped us with all our problems, brought us papaya and coconuts and was really kind. And they came to clean the house every day :) The house was an typical balinese Style House...open everywhere so you can hear the jungle around you. Also in the evening there had been some music sounds of the temple ceremonies...i love that! The kitchen was big and we had a big table to work at. the 3 bedrooms where perfect for us and even on the terasse there was a sofa where you could take a nap, chill at the sun and enjoy the jungle. Because the house was on the property of Ketuts Family we felt really safe...i mean balinese people are so friendly that you will feel safe eatherway in Ubud! There were some pets around which sad hallo to us often and the people of Ketuts family as well. We enjoyed the stay really much and we really love that we came even closer to the balinese culture in living in between all these balinese families, but had our own house far away from the town in this wonderful nature. So if you want to stay at Ketuts House, than rent a scooter (we always rent it in DE DE Shop) and than discover Ubud. Supermarket Bintang is 5 minutes away. A yoga studio "Intuitive Flow" 10 minutes. A nice restaurant called "The Elephant" also 5 minutes and the rest you can reach in 10-15 minutes in the center of ubud. Because Ketuts House don't have a pool, we loved to go to "the Jungle Fish" which is 5-10 minutes in the north for enjoying one day in this wonderful pool club. For more recommendations just ask Ketut and he will care for you. Thank you Ketut. We will see you again for sure!

Although I'm a seasoned traveler, I rarely leave a review and I only do the basi review. In this case it would be very unfair if I wouldn't leave a review of Ketut place, it is perfect if you're looking for the real Bali. About the host, Ketut, no words to describe how welcoming and helpful he was, thank you for everything.

We stayed 4 nights at Ketut's homestay and enjoyed the time there. It's located on his family property with other tourist accomodation. The villa is right next to a field so be prepared for the natural sound of the local animals. It's a bit out of Ubud centre so away from the tourist mainstream, there are a few nice restaurants down the street who serve local and western food. The breakfast is delicious and Ketut is a welcoming host...

Ketut is a great host, always available if you have questions. The banana pancakes for breakfast were delicious and we enjoyed talking to Ketut about balinese culture. The villa was not quite as we expected from the fotos but it was just fine as we only stayed two nights.
