About this listing
Experience authentic, Balinese life. The Payogan Homestay Villa is located within our traditional, Balinese family compound, a 20 minute walk away from Ubud. The villa is spacious, in the traditional Balinese style. Situated at the back of the compound, overlooking a rice field and tropical plantation, the villa offers more privacy and space. However, you will still wake up to the traditional sounds of Bali and experience the essence of staying in a Balinese village.
The space includes a full kitchen and dining room, three bedrooms, an indoor living space, and a large terrace. The open-air bathroom includes a tub and shower with hot water only a turn-of-a-tap away.
Living in a Balinese family compound means that you will have many friendly, neighbors. The compound is home to a large extended family, all of whom are very involved in traditional Balinese life, and committed to our village ceremonies, many of which take place in our family temple. We welcome you to participate if you choose. In fact, we encourage our guests to join us to get the true feeling of Balinese culture. We can always help you through the experience and provide the traditional wear.

Ketut is very kind and gentle, always smiling and ready to help you. He also prepares a very good welcome breakfast with pancakes and tea.
We were 4 staying in the villa and the house is good too, with 3 rooms, a kitchen, an outdoor toilet and a common space.
Actually the place is not in the center so if you want to go to Ubud you will have to spend 100.000 irp (6,6 euro) to go and return back.
Another thing to say, if you wake up with noise, bring your earplugs because the place is full of chickens and they start singing early in the morning!
A part from that, I will recommend you the place if you go to Ubud.
Ketut is a very kind and friendly host. The breakfast was super. It is nice to feel and see the life in a large family of Balinese. The place, as the part of Balinese compound, needs a major update in the western eye.

My friends and I had a lovely stay at Ketuts villa. The villa was spacious, clean and cool. We loved the atmosphere and how far away it was from the hustle and bustle in ubud. Ketut and his family were extremely helpful with everything from transport, food and activities! A big thankyou to Wayan, Ketuts nephew :) for driving us crazy ladies around. He was such a beautiful, knowledgeable person. Would recommend this stay to all my friends and family. Thanks again Ketut and family :)
Our stay at Ketut's homestay had been such a wonderful time. Ketut, the charismatic and generous owner and his entire family ( his lovely wife, his adorable two sons Wayan and Made, his smilling brother, his sisters, his nieces) and without forgetting to mention Indra, Coco and Wyang, were extremely friendly and welcoming.
We enjoyed our holiday within an authentic Balinese family, that values the sense of welcome.
Our stay will be unforgettable and we already miss all of them.
Ketut drove us into the countryside to visit splendid artists, painters and carvers. He is a fantastic host, willing his guests to find out the best of Bali culture.
We were extremely lucky as, thanks to Ketut, we took part to the Kuningan celebrations and shared the ceremonies at the temples and processions in the street.
We will miss the daily trip to the night market with its warungs, the early morning babi guling, the delicious and famous pancakes, and , most of all, the numerous conversations with Ketut, a man curious and interested in arts and philosophy. We are glad that AirBnB favours such meetings.
We would love to return one day!
