The Space

Doug's Mountain Getaway is a friendly and cosy place where you set the pace – whether you lie back on a comfy sofa watching a film on our 100" cinema, enjoy a workout followed by a sauna session, challenge your friends at pool or table tennis, or jump into the hot tub with a bottle of bubbly – we invite you to make yourself at home at The Getaway (all 400 sq. m. of it!)

It's much more personal than checking into a hotel... our staff can help you arrange travel, tell you who gives the best deals, do airport pick-ups, drive you places, and teach you to ski/snowboard/climb. We take the hassle out of everything because we're nice like that, and to be frank, we're just good at it!

We also have the best knowledge of the local area, and there are so many cool activities to get stuck into that you won't want to leave. We have a minimum stay here because two or three days isn't nearly enough!

The chalet sleeps 10 people in total. We're flexible - tell us what your group dynamic is and we can configure the sleeping arrangement as you wish, for example: 1 x Quad room, 2 x Twin  rooms, 1 x Double room.

Guest Access

We believe in value for money... that's why we offer many completely free facilities:

Interaction with Guests

I'm often around to show you where to find all the fun activities (if not I'm out there doing them with you!). We have cool staff who help out / hang out too - they live with me in a separate apartment in the same building.

The Neighborhood

The location is hard to beat. It's nestled within one of Austria's most spectacular valleys, Stubaital, and surrounded by some of the country's highest peaks. It's a 10 minute drive from Innsbruck (dubbed 'the heart of the Alps'), and is abundant with adventure activities of all kinds from Olympic bobsleigh to paragliding right over the village.

The slopes in the valley's four main resorts are impeccably maintained: Schlick 2000 (accessible via a 10 minute walk from the chalet), the Stubai Glacier, Elfer, and Serlesbahnen (accessible by a free shuttlebus next to the chalet).

100% snow guarantee! You can ski and snowboard at the Stubai Glacier every month of the year except July & August.

The summer activities are equally bountiful – hiking, biking, lakes, mountain carting, and rock climbing to name but a few. I've compiled a guidebook of all my favourite activities – it'll keep you busy for two weeks straight whatever the weather.

In the village (1 mile):
Ski Resort (Schlick 2000), Paragliding, Indoor climbing wall, Outdoor rock climbing, 8km extreme day & night sledging, Apres Ski, Ice skating, Ice hockey, Snowshoe walking, Cross country skiing, Curling, Shooting, Mountain biking, Hiking, Mountain lakes, Leisure park, Adventure highwire park, Rafting, Beach volleyball, Mountain-boarding, BBQ, Scenic tram ride, Tennis, Sports Hall, Indoor waterworld & spa.

Cyclable (10 miles):
Golf, Olympic bobsleigh & skeleton, Innsbruck, Klettersteig, Ritterkuchl, Bungee, Rafting, Canyoning, Breweries, Summer toboggan, Mountain Carting, Paintballing, Mountain lakes, Beach volleyball.

Drivable (> 10 miles):
Stubai Glacier, Area 47 Extreme Waterpark, Aquadome Sauna & Spa, Neuschwannstein Castle, Indoor Surfing, Frozen Waterfall Climbing, Alpine zoo.

Getting Around

In winter there's a free shuttle to take you to the resorts in the valley. In summer there's also a bus to take you around (but you have to pay a little).

I have bikes for rent (5 euro a day) to cruise down to the mountain lake to sunbathe, or play beach volleyball / frisbee / football / cards / boules.

Innsbruck is 10 mins drive away in a car, 30 mins by bus, or a stunning 1 hour tram ride winding through beautiful mountain villages.
