Looking for an epic mountain holiday with friends / family? Our cosy chalet has a cinema, hot tub, chillout lounge, poker, sauna & fitness rooms & is nestled in the Alps..! Spend weeks doing awesome nearby activities & games & fun @ the Getaway!
It is a friendly, cosy place, where you can choose whether to lie back on a fat sofa playing games with your mates, or watching a film on our 100" cinema… or, if you've just grabbed a red bull from the fridge, how about a workout followed by a sauna sesh? Maybe jumping into the hot-tub with a bottle of bubbly? Settle in, make yourself feel at home - you're free to do and use the whole of The Getaway's massive 400 sq. m.
It's so much more personal than checking into a hotel... our in-house staff are there to help you sort your flights out or tell you who gives the best deals - if you want; do airport pick-ups and drive you places - if you'd like that; teach you to ski/snowboard/climb/swim - if you need it. What we're trying to say is that we take the hassle out of everything, because we're nice like that - and to be frank, we're just simply good at it!
1x Quad room
2 x Twins
1 x Double
Chalet Experiences believes in value for money.
...that's why we offer so many completely free facilities in our chalets, like the:
Chill-out lounge with cinema
4 x Bathrooms
Fully equipped kitchen (with free breakfast)
Boot & ski room
Mountain boards etc etc.
We also have killer local knowledge of the area, so simply put, you won't want to leave. We have a minimum stay here because one or two days here simply aren't enough!!
It's awesome value (starting from just 30 Euro per person per night)!
... & we offer seriously good day trips
Interaction with Guests
I'm usually around to either show you where & when to go everywhere to do all the best stuff (if I'm not out there doing it with you!). We've normally got a couple of cool live-in staff helping out / playing too!
The facilities that the area offers are fairly unrivalled - the slopes are impeccably maintained, you can snowboard at the Stubai Glacier every month except July & August (!!!), hiking / biking paths are stunning, well sigend & easy to follow etc etc ...in fact I've compiled a summer & a winter book of 2 or 3 different activities to do every day for 2 straight weeks (ie 4 weeks) - for if the weather's good or bad!
Doug's Mountain Getaway is close to the main gondola for the fantastic Schlick 2000 ski resort in winter, and the downhill mountain bike trails, hikes, lakes and climbing in summer.
The location really is hard to beat: Nestled within one of Austria's most spectacular valleys - Stubaital, it is surrounded by impressive mountains, it's a mere 10 minute drive from the mountain city of Innsbruck (dubbed, for good reason, the heart of the Alps), and literally surrounded by activities of all kinds - ranging from doing the Olympic bobsleigh-run to paragliding right over the village.
In the village ( 1 mile)
Ski Resort (Schlick 2000), Paragliding, Indoor climbing wall, Outdoor rock climbing, Day & Night-Sledging, Apres Ski, Ice Skating, Ice Hockey, Snowshoe walking, Mountain biking, Hiking, Mountain lakes, Leisure park, Adventure highwire park, Beach volleyball, Mountainboarding, BBQ, Scenic tram ride, Tennis, Sports Hall.
Cyclable ( 10 miles)
Golf, Olymbic bobsleigh & skeleton, Innsbruck, Klettersteig, Ritterkuchl, Bungee, Rafting, Canyoning, Breweries.
Drivable (> 10 miles)
Stubai Glacier, Hintertux Glacier, Area 47, Salzburg, Neuschwannstein Castle, Indoor Surfing, Frozen Waterfall Climbing, Alpine zoo.
Then there's the random stuff: they've regularly got random trumpeters playing in the middle of a forest as you're hiking, free cakes at a mountain hut as you hike by, climbing parks set up on top of a peak, live jazz as you eat breakfast up high with amazing views etc etc
In winter there's a free shuttle to take you to all 4 ski resorts in our valley. In summer there's also a bus to take you around (but you have to pay a little). I have bikes for rent (5 euro a day) to cruise down to the mountain lake and sun bathe and play beach volleyball / frisbee / football / cards / bowls (I have looads of that sort of stuff for you).
Innsbruck is 10 mins drive away (or 30 mins by bus (or a stunning 1 hour windy tram drive past lovely little mountain villages (both variants cost 5 euro))).
No noise outside after 9pm please. That means strictly windows shut if music or loud voices.
Had a fantastic time at the DMG.Perfect for 2 families with teenagers.Loved the hot tub after a day skiing on the glacier.useful tips re nighttime toboggan run and ski bus to glacier from the staff.A great week!,
Doug's place is awesome but unfortunately we had few things in the house not working properly. My main surprise was that you actually dont rent the entire house because "in-house" staff is also living in the house. Doug is mentioning it briefly in the description but it was not clear to me since I booked the entire place in Airbnb's options feature.
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Thanks we had an awesome time and lots of fun. Doug really made has feel welcome and it was a pleasent stay. Def. would recommend staying here. We might come back for a skitrip.
Nice place with a lot of things to do
Anyone going there should keep 2 days to enjoy the house , there is so much to do there
We were a family of 4 adults and 2 kids and we really enjoyed our stay there only disappointed that we could not spend more time to enjoy the house
Hey hey! I'm Doug, 28; thought I'd start up a backpackers / snowboard lodge because I'd been travelling for a few years since uni and this was the plan I finally settled on! I love sillyness, sports, travelling, gadgets, mountains and loads of random stuff. Not entirely sure what I was supposed to write here as the description is in German and my grasp of the language isn't quite fluent yet ;)
