We had an amazing 2 nights at Ketut's place. His place was beautiful and quiet, we slept really well through the night. We even had a massage by his niece at our room and it was great! Ketut was nice, friendly and helpful, he never fails to greet us cheerily. He helped us with our transportation to and fro the city center in Ubud and even helped us arrange a driver when we wanted to go hiking at Mount Batur. The room was clean and spacious and had a nice outdoor shower with hot/cold water. I will definitely recommend his place!
Ketut's place and Ketut himself are both great! The room is huge, gets lots of natural light and is part of the compound of Ketut's extended family. That means that you're staying in an authentic Balinese house - something other tourists pay to see. The garden is lovely and there's even the family temple as part of the compound. We loved the whole experience.
The walk to the center of Ubud takes a good 45 minutes to an hour, so we rented a scooter for getting around - which also took care of the problem of dogs barking at us on our way home.
Ketut and his son are very nice, very willing to share information about the Balinese way of life and also always there to fix any problems that may appear in the house. I would highly recommend staying here if you want a very good room for a good price and to experience the authentic Balinese way of life.
Ketut has a really lovely and nice house and beautiful yard. The room was really clean and comfortable. The neighborhood is awesome, all by walking distance, tho it's a little long way to walk to/from the market but there are lots of galleries, cafe, restaurants and shops on the way to visit. They served great breakfast, I still remember the taste of their banana pancake :)
We recommend and will visit Payogan homestay for sure.
We had a really enjoyable stay at Ketut's house. It was a refreshing experience to explore Ubud with the kind help of ketut and his son, wayang.
The house was clean and true to the pictures. The pancakes even more so.
Wayang was of great help the entire trip, bringing us around Ubud and showing us his favourite eating joints. Ask him for the spicy fish and Ubud's best pork ribs.
We look forward to visiting again. Thank you for having us:)
Family, secure, BEAUTIFUL, and my third home. So to start with the actual homestay...it is just add the pictures show, very clean, very comfortable and felt like home. It's within a compound so that makes it even better. Very BEAUTIFUL lush green surroundings. My hosts... they are now my family I miss then tremendously. I was treated with care each day. From the best breakfast I've ever tasted to making sure I got where I needed to go, being equipped with the information I needed, immersing me into the culture. They simply supplied everything and always did it with a smile and genuine heart. I was able to experience authentic Balinese culture and traditions. It's within the rural area so that's a great plus because the city is just a few minutes up the street. I think it is an amazing price for all that you are getting. I traveled alone and never once felt unsecured knowing that I was staying with Ketut and the family. Highly recommended! I truly miss them, starting crying days before I left. There is no doubt where my home is in Bali, it's at Payogan Homestay. Go there, you'll see just what I'm talking about, it's an experience like no other. You can't get this from a hotel our from someone who is just trying to make a few bucks.
Ketut was a wonderful host, we felt very welcome and safe during our stay. The compound is beautiful and the room is as pictured. Ketut runs the compound with his family and 2 sons, so it has a lovely feel. We never locked our doors and felt very safe (being 2 female travellers). The place itself is a little walk out of central Ubud (might take roughly half an hour) but we often got lifts into town with Ketut's son, or you can easily borrow a motorbike. Would recommend this place to friends and family.
Staying with Ketut and his family was one of the best parts of my tour of SE Asia. Ketut's entire family was so welcoming and informative. Both of his sons were helpful in taking us places or arranging tours. His wife makes the most delicious breakfast (I miss it), and we also got to have a traditional Balinese BBQ with them that was equally as great. Whenever I am back in Bali there is no question that I will be staying and visiting with Ketut and his family again.
